Zoom Makeup

Hi šŸ™‚ I’m in desperate need of some makeup tips and product guidance for improving my appearance on Zoom video conferences. Little bit about my beauty IQ: I take really, really good care of my skin. I love being outdoors but I’m highly allergic to every single version of sunscreen (except for hats lol) so basically my only option is to take immaculate care of my skin and so far so good, to the point that I can get away with no makeup on a daily basis. But I’ve recently discovered that the virtual world doesn’t do me any favors at all LOL Zoom straight up makes my skin look red and shiny and makes my blonde hair look orange. I.E. I need help with toning down the redness & shininess (I have a hair appt this week for my hairdresser to address the orange hair thing lol) Thanks in advance for all advice!!! šŸ™‚

I highly suggest using Lancome Genifique Youth Activating Serum after using all your skincare products. Then, take any tightly packed powder foundation brush (I like to use Marc Jacobs the Face II Brush) and apply Laura Mercier Translucent Pressed Powder. Follow with a highlighter over your cheekbone, down the nose, and chin. It's a true "no makeup, makeup look" that gives a good texture to your skin on video and the highlighter mimics natural shine. Hope that helps.

Hi @Anonymous!

I've used Zoom everyday for work since quarantine so I've learned a few things.  Zoom has a filter where it makes your skin look nicer.  Wearing a bit of foundation, tinted moisturizer, BB cream or CC cream should help with the redness.  Zoom definitely makes your skin look shiny.  You can try dusting a bit of translucent powder on your face.

Skip the heavy makeup like contouring and concealer since it can look harsh on camera.

It also helps to sit facing natural light or sit next to a window to give your face a nicer glow.  It doesn't have to be direct sunlight.

@RAWRitsRED Wow!  Great tips.  I too have virtual meetings everyday.  Thank you for the info

Re: Zoom Makeup

@Anonymous not sure where you're located but have you tried european/koresn sunscreens? They have different regulations for what ingredients can be counted as sunscreen ingredients so their chemical sunscreens tend to be a lot more elegant in formulation.  The US/Canads haven't updated their available chemical filters since the early 90's.

Otherwise there is actually a zoom filter you can use to level out your skintone and smooth your features šŸ˜‚ I use it every day and it is a noticeable difference lol.
