Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

Lots of places are doing their "year in review" (usually with music, but I've seen some others too!), so I thought it would be fun if we did a BIC Beauty Wrapped 😊

I personally draw a lot of inspiration (and sometimes enabling) from the Community, and would love to see everyone's beauty wrapped! I've come up with a few categories, but feel free to add and skip over ones that don't apply to you!

BIC WRAPPED 2023 CATEGORIES:

  • Your Top 3 Brands This Year (this can be divided into categories, like skincare, makeup, haircare and fragrance, or you can do an overall ranking!)
  • Top 3 Most Used Product Types (mascara, fragrance, liquid blush, hair masks, etc)
  • Top 3 Most Used Products
  • Top 3 Most Repurchased Items
  • Top "BIC Made Me Do It" Product
  • Number of Empties (if you track that sort of thing!)
  • Top New Product of 2023
  • Top 3 Beauty Trends You Participated In
  • Top Re-Entry Product (something you maybe haven't used in a while, but has been rediscovered and re-added to your rotation!)

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@danielledanielle I love the ND concealer, too. It's such a great formula!

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

Indeed @makeitup305 .  I like that it's thick enough to use alone, but not cakey, and that it sets itself.

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@danielledanielle I have never used the Nars eye primer.   I may have to try it

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@CorgiMommy, I ended up trying initially as part of a GWP.  It works best with powdered shadows and when I use Danessa Myricks Beauty Colorfix Eye, Cheek & Lip Cream Pigment - Nudes Collection Nude 8 , it gives me a better wear.

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@danielledanielle so many good products in your wrapped! I love that you included brushes - I feel

Like every year I fixate on a new category, and 2024 is feeling like brushes and tools. I realized that it wasn’t so much my technique that needed improving as much as it was using the right tools for the products I have. Are there any eye/concealer brushes you recommend? I’ve been using a sponge but I find it creases in some areas and I know there must be a better way

Also LOVE that you’ve been under painting. I’ve been interested but a little intimidated. Am I overthinking it??

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@cianni, yeah I feel like brushes have come a long way.  Technique definitely helps, but with the right tools\brushes, it's less required.  For concealer I try to match the concealer's performance to the brush.  The thicker the concealer, the more diffusion I look for, so SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Concealer Brush #57 is for when I use concealer more like foundation and SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Concealer Brush #71 when I need to pat it in or precision.  For a fast dryer like the NATASHA DENONA Hy-Glam Brightening & Hydrating Medium to Full Coverage Crease Proof Serum Concealer ... , that one works best for me with sponge + fingers.  Other concealers I use that are medium-full - PAT McGRATH LABS Sublime Perfection Concealer M18 , DIOR Backstage Concealer 4N and NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer with Medium Coverage - I may use a foundation brush instead, such as Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Full-Bodied Foundation Brush 110 , because it's dense but has that finger like application quality.

Underpainting has been around!  Don't fear it!  You may not need to map your face as intensely.  I have had people contour my nose in a makeover, and I never like it, so I don't bother with doing that.  I focus more on my cheek and forehead.  I also use two brushes vs one because I feel like it's less muddy looking, but if you have a brush that stipples nicely, you could easily just use one.

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@danielledanielle Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! I do have a nice stippling brush that I’ve never used, but i think I’m gonna attempt under painting with it. Based on what I’ve seen in the threads, looks like you inspired at least a few people to try under painting this year, so I’m feeling confident 🙌🏼

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

Fun idea!

  • Your Top 3 Brands This Year (this can be divided into categories, like skincare, makeup, haircare and fragrance, or you can do an overall ranking!)   Tatcha, Natasha Denona, hmm I did buy a few things Gucci so I'll say them.

  • Top 3 Most Used Product Types (mascara, fragrance, liquid blush, hair masks, etc) Eyeshadow, Perfume, lip balm.

  • Number of Empties (if you track that sort of thing!) 126 as of end of November. My best year to date.

  • Top 3 Beauty Trends You Participated In None.

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@Samtian did you like the Gwen Stefani palette,  I was a little disappointed in it?

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@CorgiMommy It's ok. It makes really good crease shades for me to wear to work.

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

That is an impressive amount of empties @Samtian

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@danielledanielle Thank you!!

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@Samtian Oooooh so many products in here I’ve been thinking about for a while! The GXVE palette has been sitting in my loves for a while, but for some reason I haven’t been able to commit to it.

you had an INCREDIBLE panning year, over 100 is already a huge accomplishment. Would you say these are mainly skincare, haircare or makeup? I struggle with the makeup category, so tips are appreciated haha

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@cianni Thank you! Mostly skin, hair and perfumes. Makeup is a struggle for me as well lol.

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@Samtian Perfumes are hard to work through too! I’m with you on makeup though, somehow I tend to accumulate faster than I work through them… except brow products and mascara. I feel like those are two makeup categories I’m consistently panning (although in the case of mascara, sometimes they just dry out or I’ve been using them for a suspiciously long time, so it’s time for to go, even if they’re never truly “finished”)

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@cianni I definitely know that struggle! Same with perfume samples, accumulate before I can get rid of them. I had this plan to use 5 before getting more...that hasn't worked out.

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@Samtian Even the samples take a decent amount of time to go through! I have an absolutely scary amount just sitting in my drawers LOL

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@cianni They do lol! I stopped counting after I got 198 sample vials lol. I think I've done 15 this year.

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

Great idea @cianni! I'll have to think on this and answer later. Can't wait to see what everyone's favorites this year are 🙂

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@AznAngelLiz I need to think on this one also

Re: Wrapped 2023: Your Beauty Year in Review

@AznAngelLiz it was harder than I thought to reflect on the entire year, so many products from earlier in the year that I forgot about till now 😅 also I’m not sure if you remember from Galentines earlier this year, but you gifted me that MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil Creamy Non-Skipping and Non-Dragging Precise Lip Liner Cork !! I’ve since repurchased hahah,

it’s HEAVY rotation for me ❤️
