You guys, I just died a little. A lot. I just found a lovely package from Sephora on my doorstep and I was incredibly excited to open it. I had no idea what would be inside but as soon as I pulled out the enclosed paper and looked at the spoilers, I was in shock. Everything was beautifully packaged and I literally squealed as I started to unwrap everything. Inside I found the BKR Paris Water Bomb lip treatment, the Jouer Blush Bouquet Duo in "Adore" (the perfect shade for my light skin tone) the Jouer lip topper in Rose Gold", a Kilian Kissing Rollerball, the Moon Juice Beauty 'Shroom serum (which I had strongly been considering purchasing) and the Sephora Collection magnetic foundation brush AND stand (ironically I had actually gone into my local store the other day just specifically to look at the new brush set but they didn't have it yet)! Thank you so much to Sephora and all of the brands for the absolutely lovely gifts. I'm so overwhelmed and so grateful and I truly appreciate the thought and effort that went into this gift; I will most definitely enjoy it.
Today, I tried out the second colour in the Jouer blush duo called Hold Me, which is a nude shade. It gives a nice, subtle hint of colour to the cheeks. I'd wear this on my light makeup days similar to how I did in this pic. On my lips, I am wearing the BKR Water Balm as a lip primer with the Jouer Lip Topper in Rose Gold just on the center of my lips. I only applied on the center since I didn't want the result to be too glittery. The topper ended up highlighting my lips with a nice shimmer, which I think suited the look I was going for 😉
I've been using the BKR Water Balm every night before bed and it seems to sit on my lips till morning. I don't think it hydrated my lips significantly, but I think it works well as a lip primer just to smooth out the lips and so that the lipstick has something to latch onto. I wouldn't say it's a necessity, but it's nice to have.
I have used the Sephora Magnetic Foundation Brush for my makeup the last few days and I really like it. For reference, I morphed into a brush girl this past year and have been using a big kabuki brush for my foundation (I've been lazy and want my foundation on in a flash haha). So this brush was definitely right up my alley! The brush can hold quite a bit of foundation, but can also be sheered out with a light touch of the brush.
I sprayed the Coola Makeup Setting Spray after my makeup application and it kept my makeup on throughout the day. I did notice the alcohol scent mixed with another scent that I couldn't put my finger on (I later saw that it was Green Tea scented from the box), but the scents go away very quickly so I didn't mind it. I also tried the other method of spraying it into my hands, then patting it onto my face. This method worked fine too and my makeup stayed in place; it does leave my hands with a tacky feeling though.
For the Moon Juice Beauty Shroom, I gave this one to my mom since I do not yet need to worry about fine lines and wrinkles. She did mention that it smells quite different from other serums. I assume this is due to the mushrooms. Will need to update back about its effectiveness after she's tried it for a while. Once again, thank you to the Sephora team! Really glad I got to try such cool products and I hope my reviews were helpful for those considering these products 🙂
@MissPuff You’re right! It does have similar colours to the Natasha Denona one! I’ve never tried that one, but it would be interesting to compare! I think I might try to swatch it in store.
For the Jouer blush, I find that it’s really buildable. At first glance, I thought these would be a muted colour on me, but Adore Me (the darker shade) turned out to be more of a subtle coral pink. I usually am heavy handed with blush so it took me about 3-4 swipes to get it to this intensity, but I can see this looking nice toned down as well for those who don’t like blush being front and center.
I applied the blush at 11am and it was still looking good at 6pm (my mom commented the blush gave me a very wide awake look at this time). So I’d say it was going strong for about 7 hours. When I got home from dinner around 10pm, it had faded quite a bit and was nearly gone on my right cheek. That said, I’m actually pretty happy with the 7hr wear time, especially bc it was super hot today. It’s also a good size so I can easily slip it into my purse if I really need to touch up after the 7ish hour mark 😊
