Makeup comes off WHILE applying

I apply my makeup with a Beauty Blender usually, but this has happened when I've used my fingers, brushes, etc. I apply my foundation, but the more I blot the Beauty Blender, the less makeup actually stays on my skin. The tool I use (blender or brush) just smears the makeup around and removes it from my skin while I apply. If I try to fix it by adding more, it continues to happen. The makeup doesn't soak into my skin or something. The only way I can get ANY coverage in certain areas (mostly notice this on my nose and cheeks) is by using a heavy coverage powder on the top of everything. I have oily skin, have tried multiple foundations and tools, and have also tried multiple primers. I always wet my Beauty Blender too. My face gets sticky and regardless of what applicator I use, the foundation gets picked back up or moved around without soaking in. I'm wondering if anyone has tips or has experienced this before?

Re: Makeup comes off WHILE applying

Is your skin completely dry and cool temperature, rather than directly after a shower. Also allow moisturizer to soak in completely. May need to blot first before primer, then light product layers and allow to dry down in between.

@lcrx97 how does your skin feel after cleansing? Could be a skincare issue as well, and excess oil.

Re: Makeup comes off WHILE applying

I usually give my moisturizer about 10 minutes to set in, but having cooler skin may help too. I think letting things dry in between would help. I've also thought about the Wayne Goss method (putting some light powder down before foundation to help set it for oily skin). My skin usually feels nice and soft after cleansing! I've tried new skincare regiments over the past few years and this issue seems to happen no matter what I'm doing.

Re: Makeup comes off WHILE applying

Hi there @lcrx97! Are you applying your foundation in a stippling motion or are you dragging the foundation on your face? I have a friend who had the same issue and it was her application technique that was making the foundation come off. Also, what steps are you taking before you apply your foundation? Are you moisturizing, priming and then using foundation? Let me know so I can see how I can help!

Re: Makeup comes off WHILE applying

I stipple with the beauty blender! I’ve tried brushes too and it’s the same problem. And yes, I do all of those things - I use moisturizer and primer first.

Re: Makeup comes off WHILE applying

Hi,

What kind of primer do you use? Maybe a mattifying primer will help. Try Benefit POREfessional Matt Rescue along with a matt foundation. Hope this helps.

Re: Makeup comes off WHILE applying

Hello! Yes I've tried that one. I've used Porefessional, Dr Brandts, Estee Lauder Mattifyer, etc.
