Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

Pumpkin Everything Week! [UPDATED WITH NEW SEPT AND OCT CHALLENGES!!] 💗💗💗 So, I could definitely (still) use some makeup inspiration these days and maybe you could too! Several years ago, we used to have some weekly makeup challenge threads, so I’m bringing one back. It’s a great way to spark some creativity and maybe most importantly, a great way to shop your stash!

I started with a list of some challenges below, but also happy to edit/rearrange/consider other ideas along the way. I hope you will join me!  Feel free to post as many or as few times you’d like each week with photos of your looks. If you don’t like to post your face, feel free to do a flatlay of the products you used to do your look. Also, if you get behind or ahead, feel free to post pics whenever you have time.

Can’t wait to see all your looks! Have fun!

Updated the challenge (AGAIN) for the next few months!

Week 52.5 (Sep. 1-3): It’s still hot where I am, so we still have local peaches, melons and corn/zucchini, so let’s do a “late summer harvest” inspired look before they’re gone and it starts feeling like fall!

Week 53 (Sep. 4-10): Homecoming! Do a look you think you’d rock for homecoming, or feature your high school colors.

Week 54 and 55 Double Week (Sep. 11-24): Elements - Wood, Metal, Earth, Air, Wind, Water, Fire - Choose one or combine them!

Week 3 (Nov. 21-27): Newness! Show off any new items you picked up during the sale (or anything new-ish that needs some love). Or, if you are on a low buy, just shop your stash! Alternate suggestions try something in a new way, i.e. use shades from a palette that you never use, or in a new combo.

Week 4 (Nov. 28-Dec. 4): Go all-glowy or go all-matte!

Week 5 (Dec. 5-11): Luxe brands or Luxe items. If it feels luxe to you or makes you feel fancy, post it!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@heartsmyface Fabulous look.  Always so spot-on with accessorizing, too.

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@heartsmyface Girl, your makeup is amazing, but in addition, your hair is stunning!  These colors are perfect for you.

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@heartsmyface - I love the color of your hair!  😍  Then I noticed your lovely cheeks!  When I use pink blush, it brings out all the red in my face--yuck.  😝

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@Titian06  Ahhh oh nooo!!! I get a similar effect when I wear neon green.  what about more orange or pink toned blushes?

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@heartsmyface - Peach, coral, orange are all my go-to!  I get lots of compliments when I wear those colors.  I have a neutral undertone, but my skin is ruddy, pinky, red from decades of cystic acne and the resultant scarring and other damage.  Thanks for asking!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@heartsmyface your cheeks look like you’ve just spent the day skiing🎿 Love it!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@eshoe  Thank you!  We were just saying how we have the ski bug now that we see snow on the mountains.  Still another fifteen -twenty days til the slopes open up depending on the mountain but it looks ready to me.

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@heartsmyface  Jealous of this view!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

Sigh, @heartsmyface, I would be counting down the days, too❄️ 🥰

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@heartsmyface  You do look like you took a walk in the snow.  You're so creative!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

Pulled out a MORPHE 35M palette (a bit hard to blend I might add)

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

So pretty!!!! Your eyes are popping!!!!!!! I love the color placement for the shape of your eyes! 😍

Also, when I find pigments to be difficult to blend, it's usually because they're really concentrated. I lighten up my pressure to apply and use light taps or pressing in a specific area first, then keep pressing/tapping lightening up my pressure even more to blend it out.

I first discovered this early on in my career when makeup artist brands were really beginning to emerge (mid 90's). I learned that the more pressure, the more intensity and the pigment will not budge. Haha!

Powders are really great to use first in the areas I don't want as much saturation so when it comes time to blend, the pigments aren't latching on to the primer as intensely. For example: right after you apply your eye shadow primer, apply powder to contour and brow bone but not on the eye lid so the eye lid gets the most intensity of pigment.

Another trick (if you don't want to do the powder trick) is to use a concealer or eye shadow primer to blend out the edges. I use this technique when I get really stuck. Yeah, it'll mute the color, but it'll get it to blend well enough to fix the uneven saturation so I can keep going with the look instead of using makeup remover (been there, done that).

Hope this helped!

Absolutely beautiful! @lmaster

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

Thank you so so much 🤗❤️😘 @idanyd

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@lmaster, what a bummer that the shadows were difficult to blend. You did a great job with all them - I wouldn't have thought they were hard to blend given how well they look here!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

Thank you so very much @itsfi 🤗💗

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@lmaster  Omg. Beautiful look!!! Too bad it was hard to blend!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@ather thank you!! I'm going to try some more looks with this palette and see if other shades are difficult to work with as well 🙄💗

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@lmaster you know I’m a fan. Beautiful as always 🌹

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@blackkitty2014 thank you from my whole heart!!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

I love it, and totally agree, your hair looks amazing! I am trying to resist the Oribe Hair Oil, I am on a hair product low buy until I use up more things I already have, but that’s tempting! @lmaster
