Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

So, I could definitely use some makeup inspiration these days and maybe you could too. Several years ago, we used to have some weekly makeup challenge threads, so I’m bringing one back. It’s a great way to spark some creativity and maybe most importantly, a great way to shop your stash!

I started with a list of some challenges below, but also happy to edit/rearrange/consider other ideas along the way. I hope you will join me!  Feel free to post as many or as few times you’d like each week with photos of your looks. If you don’t like to post your face, feel free to do a flatlay of the products you used to do your look. Also, if you get behind or ahead, feel free to post pics whenever you have time.

I figured I’d kick us off with some fall looks, can’t wait to see them all! Have fun!

Week 1 (Nov. 7-13): Fall-inspired look (I’m thinking golds, oranges, browns, wines, plums and greys, but do whatever makes you feel like fall!)

Week 2 (Nov. 14-20): Black owned brands (Show them some love!

Week 3 (Nov. 21-27): Newness! Show off any new items you picked up during the sale (or anything new-ish that needs some love). Or, if you are on a low buy, just shop your stash! Alternate suggestions try something in a new way, i.e. use shades from a palette that you never use, or in a new combo.

Week 4 (Nov. 28-Dec. 4): Go all-glowy or go all-matte!

Week 5 (Dec. 5-11): Luxe brands or Luxe items. If it feels luxe to you or makes you feel fancy, post it!

Week 6 (Dec 12-18): Limited Editions (old or new, pull out your limited edition or discontinued items and actually use them!)

Week 7: (Dec. 19-25) Snow Queen/King

Week 8: (Dec. 26-Jan. 1) Silver and (or) Gold

Week 9: (Jan. 2-Jan. 😎 Glitter/sparkle/glam

Week 10: (Jan. 9-Jan. 15) Throwback/forgotten favorites

Week 11: (Jan. 16-Jan. 23) Palette of the week - Choose an eye (and/or other palette to create different looks during the week

Week 12: Natural brands

Week 13: Budget friendly brands

Week 14: Minis

Please feel free to suggest some other challenge ideas in the thread!

@idanyd, thank you! I’m getting a chance to work through some products with these challenges. 👍🏼

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

Beautiful @itsfi! So many nice makeup items! 💗💕💗

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

Thank you @sister13. I typically just use a few products for my everyday look but have been going all out one or two days per week, for fun and to put my stuff to use. Some things I’ve had pre-pandemic and just haven’t gotten around to using. Am working on using what I have and picking up what I will use.

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

Yeah, I need to try to use all this stuff that I have too! They will have to bury me with it, lol. @itsfi

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@itsfi look at all these gorgeous shimmers!!! 😍

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@lmaster, IKR??!!! Gotta love the shiny, sparkly shimmers!! 💫♥️

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@itsfi how are you liking the Tower 28? I just ordered mine from their website. They didn’t have my shade in story so I couldn’t try a sample but the swatches for the other shades felt really nice.

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@makeitup305, I’ve been really pleased with the Tower 28 foundation. I typically apply it with my fingers but it goes on well with a brush or makeup sponge too. It gives a natural finish and lasts for a good amount of time. I experience a little shine by the end of the day, where I tend to be oiler but not as much as I do with other foundations. I also like that it does a nice job of staying in place even on days when my mask comes on and on throughout the day. There’s some transfer  but for the most part, the color remains on my face and not the mask.

I use this more as a foundation, applying my regular sunscreen underneath, but I like that it is a mineral sunscreen and one that wears and holds up well - some tinted moisturizer foundation types with mineral sunscreen can cast a greige tint on me (not a good look) but this one did not.

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@itsfi my Tower28 order came in unexpectedly today so I got to try out the Tower 28 Beauty SunnyDays SPF 30 Tinted Sunscreen Foundation 20 Mulholland and the Tower 28 Beauty ShineOn Milky Lip Jelly Gloss Coconut . I really liked the foundation, it’s definitely more that than a tinted moisturizer I think. I applied it with my fingers and it spread out great. I didn’t have much chance to check for longevity but it seems like it would do ok. I’m iffy about the gloss. After so much hype idk how I feel about it. The texture is nice but the smell/taste isn’t my favorite. Have you tried it by any chance?

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@makeitup305, I love it when orders arrive earlier than expected (and you're there to pick it up) - it makes for a lovely treat! 💝 Mullholland is my summer shade in the Tower foundation so I have a feeling I will pick that one up during the spring sale. 🛍

Of the Tower 28 lip glosses, my preference is for the Tower 28 Beauty ShineOn Jelly Lip Gloss over the milky lip glosses, at least when it comes to wearing them on their own. Hmmm, for some reason, I don't recall there being a smell/taste with the milky lip jelly glosses; I'll try to remember to look into it in a little bit when it's a more fitting time to start my day. lol. For me personally, I like to use the milky glosses from the line to either tone down or ... what would the right phrase be, tone up? ... basically change the look of other lip products. So adding the Coconut or Oat versions to my more brown lippies or really beige toned nude lipsticks to make them more wearable. Or adding the more brown shades (cashew and almond) to my lippies that may be too plum, purple, dark pink, rose, red for my liking. It's interesting, I've found that the milky version of the Tower 28 glosses have been really good at changing some lip colors that I didn't care for on their own into a shade that I like, which has meant less lipsticks being decluttered or re-homed.

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@itsfi Thanks for the review! I’m really excited about trying it. I probably will still use a sunscreen underneath but I know what you mean about the greige issue with other tinted moisturizers. Glad you’re enjoying it!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

Trying out the Vanity Cosmetics Signature palette which just came in the mail yesterday. The look is also “new” because I rarely use black shadow , it’s super intimidating. The black in this palette is super pigmented and needs to be used carefully but it would probably make amazing liner. The silver taupe shade is stunning and has a bit on translucency when you just pat it on. Also used the PAT McGRATH LABS Skin Fetish: Divine Powder Blush Divine Rose  which just came in today and the SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Concealer Brush #57 and SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Foundation Brush #56 . LAWLESS Mini Forget The Filler Lip Plumper Trio on my lips with an old Nyx lipliner. #Also new to me Kérastase Mini Elixir Ultime Hair Oil Serum for Frizzy Hair 1.7 oz/ 50 mL and the KAYALI VANILLA | 28 & MUSK | 12 Doublesided Travel Rollerball 2 x 5 mL Eau de Parfum Rollerball .E4E71922-E8AB-4E31-B68B-CB39043275F3.jpeg

@makeitup305 you created an unbelievably gorgeous look!!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

Thanks so much @lmaster !

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

Very very beautiful! Curious about that Huda fragrance! @makeitup305

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@sister13 I quite like it. I don’t know if I like it enough for a full size of either scent but the Vanilla is a nice creamy scent and the musk is true to name and makes it almost a little smoky? I’m not very good at describing scents tbh.

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@makeitup305  So pretty. Which lawless mini did you use?

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022

@ather Swatches of the Lawless Lip Oil set. The first shade looks kind of weird because it’s so shiny it’s reflecting my wall lol it’s completely clear. The second shade looks bright but it just enhances the pink on your lips and the last shade just makes them look deeper in color.
