Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023/2024
The Fit, The Fab and The Face: Outfit and Inspo Thread What are you wearing today Pt2

Week 48 (November 18-24): Let's get "Pop"ular - Wicked movie/musical week.
Create a look with anything from a collab with the movie/musical Wicked, use anything from any Wicked Collaboration (One/Size, R.E.M., Opi, etc) " or anything that inspires you, particularly accenting pink, gold or green.

Week 49 (November 25-Dec 1): Fairytale makeup - Part 1 -  Cast of Characters.  This is any fairytale makeup magic your heart desires from your favorite sidekick/supporting character.  Doesn't need be a cosplay level look, whether it's using a cool color shifting liner or working a full fairy godmother look, let your makeup be inspired by the ones who always had the hero/heroine's back.

Week 50 (December 2-8th): Part 2 -The Princess Edit - give me your best Disney Princess/Prince blush look.  Are we going snow white rouge, or snatched Cinderella??

Week 51 (December 9-Dec 15): Part 3 - Very Villainous. Not at all demure.
Let's be honest, Ursula, Maleficent, the evil queen....all slayed the makeup game, and then subsequently slained.  Well, what are heroics without the calamity of a counterpart? Bring out your inner baddie this week.

Week 52 (Dec 16-22): Wickedly Wintry: If it's in the title (the lion, the witch and the wardrobe), why not pay homage to it?  Using elements of ice and frost, give me your best Ice Queen look aka white witch from Narnia.  Silvery, sparkly highlights welcome.  If that's too frosty forward, any element of silver or white within your look can play to this theme.

Week 52 (again) (Dec 23-29): Belle of the Ball - Give me Glitz! Glam! All the glitter!  Feel free to use any holiday release, like the Dior or Nars collections.

2025 Week 1 (Dec 30-Jan 5) Pixie Power!  I want to see spritely cheeks, there needs to be a gold or glow involved.  Tinkerbell time!

Week 2 (Jan 6-12): Frosty Foliage: Give me that sunset blush look, but make it frosty...plum, berries, holographic shimmer.  (Not quite foliage, but I was going for the callback and alliteration.)

Completed 2024 Weekly Challenges:

Jan 21-27: Hot Toddy Week. Think bright and sultry, go for golds and honey or amber colors.
Jan 28-Feb 3: Espresso Martini\Martini Week.  This is the martini look - green and shimmer, but you could also add a deep lip to it or go for brown or plum version.

Feb 3-10: Maiden's Blush or Cosmopolitan Week This is the one that started it - Maiden's Blush, by RMS beautyIt's coral, shimmery and warm.

Feb 11-17: Red Wine & Hot Chocolate - If you do partake in alcohol, try this it's delicious.  The look speaks to red and brown, but again, you choose.

Feb 18-24: Pink Blush /Blush Wine - Essentially, this is a pink look, but pinks have all sorts of tones, so have fun playing with this, whether it's all pink or a pop of pink.Week 10 (Feb 24- March 2): Lunar/ Chinese New Year Looks - This is a little late but the 24th was the lantern festival, so I think we can still celebrate this week!

Week 17&18 (April 13-27): Sale Haul Newness + Shop Your Stash! Don’t let your new items gather dust, try them out and post your thoughts! If you’re on a low/no buy, please shop your stash and share what you love about the items you chose!

Week 21 (May 21-27): Barbiecore! I was actually never a fan of dolls or Barbies as a kid, and the flood of Barbie on Instagram recently was kind of annoying to me, but I also have a soft spot for pink and Barbie, so I thought I’d add to the challenge. Can be anything from subtle to all out Barbie.
Week 22 (May 28-June 3): Social Media Inspired! Recreate a look and/or create your own look inspired by an influencer you love, or use makeup to recreate a filter. Post a side by side to share with us.

Week 23 (June 4- 10): Festival! Go all out with Glitter / Color / Braids / Hair Accessories or go easy and fresh!

Week 24 (June 11-17): Earth Week! Highlight more sustainable or green makeup brands. Or even just a play on blue, green, or even earthy tones to celebrate the earth. This is a little out of order but summer is a great time to connect with and celebrate the earth! (Suggested by @josometimes)

Week 39 (Sept 15-21): It’s never too early for PUMPKIN SPICE!

Week 40 (Sept 22-28): SEPHORiA!!! I know not everyone can attend AND there’s no virtual component this year, but share what you would wear or if you’d plan to feature any artist/line specifically in your actual or theoretical SEPHORiA looks.

Week 41 (Sept 29-Oct 5): CINNAMON APPLE SPICE sounds so nice!

Week 42 (Oct 6-12): Technique Focus - Setting your makeup! Setting powder, setting spray, baking, what works for you? I'm notoriously lazy and routinely skip any type of setting whatsoever. Share your tips and tricks and results.

So, I could definitely (still) use some makeup inspiration these days and maybe you could too! Several years ago, we used to have some weekly makeup challenge threads, so I’m bringing one back. It’s a great way to spark some creativity and maybe most importantly, a great way to shop your stash!

I started with a list of some challenges below, but also happy to edit/rearrange/consider other ideas along the way. I hope you will join me!  Feel free to post as many or as few times you’d like each week with photos of your looks. If you don’t like to post your face, feel free to do a flatlay of the products you used to do your look. Also, if you get behind or ahead, feel free to post pics whenever you have time.

Can’t wait to see all your looks! Have fun! Please feel free to suggest some other challenge ideas in the thread and we’ll add to the coming weeks!!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

Thanks, @lmaster !  I used it again today and it kept everything in place for the duration of my work day.  I'm so glad @CynthieLu mentioned this; I would never have thought of it!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

It's great hearing that is working out so well for you @Titian06  🙌 🙂 woo.hoo!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

Wonderful! I’m so curious about that Mario powder! Danessa Myricks says she uses that balm powder as a brow base too. Thanks for the review, that’s great you found a timesaver that works! @Titian06

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

@sister13 - The Mario Enhancer is a cream, not a powder, if that matters.  I think this product would be great for you!  Knowing you like to use minimal makeup at times, this is the perfect product for that.  It would also come in handy for a last minute teleconference (and less "messy").  With the sale coming up next month and summer around the corner, now would be a great time to try it! 😁

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

Ooooh, yes, I had the t confused with the MAKEUP BY MARIO SoftSculpt® Transforming Skin Perfector Light which is a powder! But now I’m intrigued by this one too! @Titian06

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

Oooh that's promising results so far @Titian06 I'm still experimenting with it too but I like it alot.  I find it risky going for an all day look with something new when I'm out and about, but how else do you see if it really holds up 😉

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

I used the PAT McGRATH LABS Mothership VI: Midnight Sun Star Wars™ Edition on my face today! Inspired by @Cissy63 ! 💗💗

Not sure all the shade names, but I used the light antique gold shade all over, then the blueish purple on the center of lid, outer corner and lower lash line. I added a light touch of that white silver sparkle thinner corners and center of lid.

Then, I used that brick color for blush/contour and used the very light shimmer (not the sparkle) as a highlight, and it’s perfect! The blush looks not super well blended here, but looked even in person. I was too lazy to put on any additional foundation or concealer, though I had applied some of the Urban Decay Quickie 24HR Full-Coverage Waterproof Concealer a few hours prior, and the light somehow I look sort of tan.

Oh, and I almost, forgot, I also used a nude Chanel lip liner, some chapstick, and added that bronzey sparkle shadow to lips.

It was nice and easy to just use one palette! I did also use the GXVE BY GWEN STEFANI Line It Up Clean 24-Hr Gel Pencil Waterproof Eyeliner Spiderwebs (gifted) in the waterline and Benefit Cosmetics BADgal BANG! Volumizing Mascara Intense Pitch Black .

Kindly ignore my flyaways!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

@sister13 amazing creativity!! ❤️ Beautiful

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

Thank you!! @lmaster

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

That’s really creative and very impressive @sister13! It’s a polished look and I wouldn’t have known you did it with a single palette. Amazing!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

Thanks @JoSometimes ! Pat McGrath would often use the MOTHERSHIPS on cheeks and for highlight. Not sure if she still does now that she’s selling cheek and highlight and bronzers, haha. It is more pigmented, so I should have used a softer brush really, but it turned out okay and I like that shade. I was on the fence about this palette (thought it looked a little boring, tbh) but I’m really enjoying it!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

@sister13 So creative. The palette makes for a beautiful highlighter 😍

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

Thank you! I was a little surprised how it looked so nice! @Mellmars1185

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

I can't belive you got a great full-face look from an eyeshadow palette, @sister13 !  Very inspiring! 🙂

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

Thanks @Titian06 !

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

Wow that's a beautiful look with one Palette.😍 It's less stressful not having to reach for so many different things to do a full face. @sister13

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

It was really simplified routine, to be sure! Might do this more often! @Buootiful

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

Last of my catch up. I used these beauties on a few days during Week 11 (March 12-18): Green week!
Green - St Patty’s Day.jpg

Supergoop! Daily Dose Bioretinol + Mineral SPF 40 with Bakuchiol 1 oz / 30 mL - I'm on the fence with this one - love that it contains a physical sunscreen and bakuchiol 👍 but it can, depending on how my skin is faring that day, give off more of a glow/sheen/shine than I prefer and the packaging is a bit bulky. It's nothing that a setting powder like Charlotte Tilbury Mini Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder (not pictured) can't fix.

OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright+ Vitamin CC Eye Sticks for Dark Circles Apricot - I used both the banana and apricot shades last week - the dark circles were extra dark for me. Sigh.

Glossier Cloud Paint Gel Cream Blush Spark (gratis) - this gel-cream formula is great. The color (bright and vibrant red) scared me but it can be sheered out beautifully for a lovely, natural flushed look. Similarly, it can be built up for a more intense cheek color.

HAUS LABS BY LADY GAGA PhD Hybrid Hydrating Tinted Lip Oil Secondary is one of my favorite lip oils. It looks orange in the tube but shows up as a pretty pink shade on my lips.

Bobbi Brown Jadestone palette (limited edition) is one of the products in my project pan. I was happy for this challenge - it gave me more of an opportunity to use it and I've found some color combinations that I like for an everyday work look that I have continued to put to use.

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

Beautiful palette for green week @itsfi

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

@itsfi Wonderful choices!

Re: Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023

Thank you @Mellmars1185. These really worked well together and I’m pleased to find a couple different pairing and combinations with the eyeshadow palette. 😃
