Anybody know how long you can keep eye shadows for before they expire?

I've kept eyeshadows for YEARS if they are powder. I make a point to clean my brushes with a daily brush cleanser or micellar water after each use thoiugh. I think if they have built up skin oils, etc they can go bad but loose pigments and pressed powder I use until/unless the texture has changed.
