Empties - September 2019

Lady Speed Stick

Fine. Nothing special. Can leave white marks but does its job.

Bare Minerals Original Foundation

I've liked Bare Minerals for a while. My roommate in college was a super fan. I bought way more than I needed and then had a bunch of shade changes when I moved to Florida and became pale person "tan." I've finally managed to use all of the foundation I bought and recently purchased a new one with Ulta points. Is it a holy grail? Probably not. But I've worked with it enough that I can use it easily and it looks natural. I may need to try some other mineral foundations and compare post October when I can buy makeup again. But not buy so many that I have a stash like what happened to me before. Now if I could only get through all the Warmth that came in the Bare Minerals kits. 🤦

Bare Pro Foundation

Got a couple samples from the Bare Minerals store in the mall. I think maybe in the spring. I was focusing on using the foundations I bought a million years ago and unfortunately the 02 dried out. It did seem quite yellow though. The 01 was light and if overapplied even made me look a little ghostly. I'm fair but not the fairest of them all. Warmth helped with this but I wouldn't want to intentionally buy a wrong shade to use both products. Anyway, it was fine but I have a harder time applying liquid foundation because I don't have much experience with it. Most likely user error than product but still felt just okay about it.

Roc eye cream

I bought a two pack of this at BJ's a while ago. I was dedicated and wore the first tube every night. I do think it helped with my fine lines. This (2nd tube) one was used frequently but not as consistently. I also have done more research and although this has retinol, the concentration isn't high. I did get many uses out of it. ~165 and ~180 respectively. I would use this again but I am interested in trying other eye creams. Right now I'm using The INKEY List Caffeine Eye Cream. So far it is okay. I don't see it helping as much in the fine lines department. I think maybe it is geared more toward helping darkness and puffiness. But I've still got a lot of testing to do.

Australian Gold Tinted SPF 50

I keep going back to this. My latest tube is more creamy than others I've had so my impressions have become more favorable. It has blended to match my skin better but I can get some stuck on my neck lines and then you can tell it doesn't truly match. I can't wear it as a daily sunscreen because of the match and also because it is such a pain to remove. But I love it for my sports weekends. It really does hold tough vs. the sun. It does stain clothes if rubbed off on them which is my biggest con. For now, protection from the sun > stains on athletic clothes that are already kinda dirty. I still need to find a daily sunscreen.

La Roche Posay Anthelios Clear Skin SPF 60

I received this sample in August so it isn't old. Yet this is how it looked..
Can you see the separation? It looks exactly like when oil separates but this is supposed to be oil free. On my face it was even worse. There would be white cast and then it would pill and ball up when rubbing it in. It also got caught in my hair and eyebrows.

I'm hoping this was just a bad sample but I'm not planning to try it again.

CeraVe AM

It's fine. It didn't leave a white cast on me which was a pleasant surprise. I think I just prefer a dedicated sunscreen and then a dedicated lotion based on my skin's needs. I would use it again if it crossed my path but I don't plan to purchase. I prefer CeraVe PM which also has niacinamide.

I already have a handful of products I should finish in the next week or so. October should provide another nice batch of empties. Yay! I can't wait to do a total for the end of the year.

ooooo yeah! that wouldn't be very appealing @ShortErica you are a good sport for trying it

Re: ooooo yeah! that wouldn't be very appealing @ShortErica y...

I have a different sample of a mineral one from them @lmaster. The formula looks like sunscreen. It also has a white cast but at least it blends into the skin and then I can cover it without pilling or balls of gunk. I'm working my way through products so it makes me proud.

Re: Empties - 2019

The BareMinerals foundation is the best for a natural, no makeup look. People always ask me what I have on my skin when I wear it. <333

Re: Empties - 2019

That's awesome @PenelopeBT! Do you have a difficult time deciding a shade? I feel like I'm able to make a few different ones work so I never know what to go with!

Re: Empties - 2019

I go between a couple of shades. What I like about the shade range is that they have a wide shade range and often times a few shades can work for one person. I switch between golden beige and golden nude. <333

Hi @Lazybeautybeast,

That is amazing! I need to be better about saving my empties!

RE: Empties - 2019

This month’s empties. I tried to switch to clean beauty but I may go back to the dark side. Lol. Honest Beauty Eye Shadow and PUR primer. 3 of the shades which are panned we’re decently usable. The mauve is unusable as it didn’t show up on my skin tone and the other shades although dark were not tan skin friendly. The dark brown, black and plum were showed up all black. I don’t think it’s a reflection on the brand I just think it’s my skin tone. I did try to use it as much as possible. PUR was great but prefer MILK Hydro primer.

great job!! @thatjedininja 🙌❤️

Pretty trash here @lmaster

Re: Empties - 2019

@itsfi thank you so much! 💐

Re: Empties - 2019

@lmaster oh...the facial radial pads are one of my faves.  I've actually stopped buying exfoliating masks and use those instead.  I feel its a gentler way to exfoliate.

Re: Empties - 2019

They are wonderful @thatjedininja already have my full size opened 😉

Re: Empties - 2019

Hi @lmaster ,

I love the Facial Radiance Pads! They really keep my skin nice and clear!

They are the best @JaneanBT 👍😊

Re: Empties - 2019

LOVED these!LOVED these!

Bath & Body Works Mineral Co Moonstone Fragrance Mist - Love the scent. Hate the non-existent lasting power.

Beauty Blender Solid Pro - The easiest way to get my brushes and sponges squeaky clean without much effort, and it last for months.

Biobelle #AfterParty - I love the scent, and I love how my face felt after using this.

DearPacker Lily Honey Sheet Mask - SO MUCH SERUM! Even after 20 minutes, the mask was still soaking with serum. This is definitely going to be a staple in my mask collection.

Huda Beauty Kayali Vanilla - Vanilla is my favorite scent, and this is one of the most amazing vanilla fragrances. I am definitely going to purchase a full size version.

Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate - A staple in my morning skincare routine that I just can’t quit.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner - A staple in my daily skincare. I like using this as an essence, and a little goes a long way, so this lasts FOREVER.

Morphe Continuous Setting Mist - Love this! I keep trying different setting sprays, but I keep coming back to this one. It sprays evenly, has no off putting scent, and makes my makeup look great.

Neutrogena Hydrating Hydrogel Mask - I don’t like that this mask comes in 2 parts, but I can’t deny how nourished and hydrated my skin feels after using it. Plus, they are always on sale at Ulta.

Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Mask - This was part of my Sephora gratis and became an instant favorite. I would definitely purchase a full size version.

Shiseido Facial Cotton - I have been converted, and I’m never turning back.

TonyMoly I’m Honey Mask Sheet - This is one of my go-to sheet masks.

Vitabath Lavender Chamomile Body Wash - The scent is natural and perfect for helping me relax during my nighttime shower. I would definitely purchase this again.

BECCA Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme - A very full coverage foundation that used to be my go to foundation. I can’t repurchase since this version has been discontinued. Not sure if I want to try the Ultimate Coverage 24 Hour Foundation that replaced it.

CK One Lipstick - This was a lipstick that I got during an Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale years ago. Nothing spectacular, but I do like how creamy it felt on the lips.

ELF Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths - These are heavily fragranced, so I only used them to clean makeup off my hands.

Essano Rosehip Micellar Water - This was a random find at TJ Maxx, and it worked well as the second step in the makeup removal process. It is not at the top of my must purchase list, but I might pick it up again if come across it during TJ Maxx run.

Formula 10.0.6 Almond + Vanilla Cleansing Oil - Pretty good drugstore cleansing oil. It was very light and washed off easily. There is a slight sweet scent, but it didn’t linger and it wasn’t irritating to my sensitive skin.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream - This is a decent moisturizer, but it is not enough for my dry skin.

L’Occitane Ultra Thirst Quenching Gel - Lightweight moisturizer that will probably work well with someone with oily skin.

Peter Thomas Roth Hungarian Thermal Mask - Another tube from the Sephora gratis. I am currently using a full size of this that I got during the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty. I like that this mask works for my sensitive skin. I would repurchase the full size if it’s on sale.

Pretty Animals Narwhal Clarifying Sheet Mask - I received this as a gift, and I liked this enough to want to try other masks from the brand.

Sephora Pearl Eye Mask - Sephora makes some of the best eye masks I’ve tried. I keep trying different eye masks, but these are still my favorite.

Stila Shimmer and Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Twig - The color is beautiful, but I have to be careful when applying this to make sure there isn’t a lot of creasing and transfer.

Ulta Gel Eyeliner in Black/Brown - These are a good dupe for the Urban Decay eyeliners. I picked up a bunch more during the most recent 21 Days of Beauty.

Nothing but MEH ...Nothing but MEH ...

Clinique Clarifying Lotion 1.0 - This is my second bottle, and I’m just not impressed. I miss the Mild Clarifying Lotion, and I wish Clinique would bring it back.

Donna Karan Cashmere Mist - I used to absolutely LOVE this fragrance, which was why I was so excited to find it at TJ Maxx for such a great price. The scent is still nice, but it is not something I would purchase again.

Dove Powder Invisible Solid - This has been the deodorant I use most often for years. I love the scent, but there is nothing invisible about this. So many of my shirts have been stained and ruined. I started using the Dove Dry Spray, so it’s time to chuck a deuce to this one.

L’Occitane Divine Eyes - Nothing spectacular to share after using the sample.

NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam - It’s not brown skin friendly alone, so I would either wear it under my foundation for a lit from within glow or mixed it in the foundation for an all over radiance. It’s a decent liquid highlighter, but I prefer the Away We Glow.

Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask - A lackluster mask from the Sephora gratis. This might need multiple uses to get the full effect, but it doesn’t seem worth it for me.

Sephora Coconut Water Moisturizing Cream - I used this after washing off my makeup before working out. It’s good for those sporadic uses, but definitely wouldn’t work as an everyday moisturizer for my dry skin.

Sun Bum Mineral Sunscreen Lip Balm - An okay lip balm that I hope has been protecting my lips from sun damage. It had a tropical flavor, but it also had a tingling sensation that I didn’t enjoy.

Andalou 1000 Roses Sheet Mask - This was an instant fail. My face started burning as soon as I put it on. I kept it on for the usual 20 minutes with the hopes that the burning sensation would dissipate. It never did.

Re: Empties - 2019

These are some fabulous empties @sephoraaddict918! 👍🏼 Thanks for the heads up on the Andalou mask - I’ve wondered about it but will keep walkin’ on by!
