Hello, BIC Beauties! If the idea of makeup capsules piques your curiosity, or you're interested in seeing what's in the beauty collection or weekly makeup bag of your fellow BIC beauties, jump right on in - with questions, comments or a capsule of your own to share.

To add a fun take on putting together a makeup capsule, I've included theme(s) for the weekly capsule - some weeks, I have enough products in my stash (eek!) to make a whole capsule based on the prompt; other weeks, I have just one or two items that fit neatly within theme.

Week 49  (December 2 - 😎 - The Beautifully Bold or Delightfully Demure Makeup Capsule and/or The "Savvy Shopper" Makeup Capsule - The "Beautifully Bold or Delightfully Demure" Makeup Capsule prompt was inspired by a comment by the mom of our marvelous @caitbird. Mama caitbird is a gem - bringing broken mugs back to life, making delicious meals and treat. She's a superwoman and it just made me laugh heartily when caitbird shared about an occasion when her mom gave her major side-eye over one of caitbird's stunningly vibrant and beautiful makeup looks of the day.

Curate a capsule with the one or more products you use for a beautifully bold or delightfully demure look. Or, a capsule with a mix of these two looks. Also, for this theme, you may want to consider a tie-in with Cheek Challenge Winter 2024/25, The Frost, The Glitz and The Wardrobe for a princess / prince - like flush of color.

Discover a loved product from the Sephora sales event? Or, did a holiday savings event item just find its way to your front door? What is a capsule makeup collection?  

A capsule makeup collection is a selection of makeup products that can be used to put together different looks for a variety of occasions. For some of us, that may mean a group of essential products for your everyday look plus a few extra items for a more glam or dramatic look; and, for others of us, that may mean, a lineup of our holy grail product(s) in each makeup category. My ideal capsule makeup collection probably falls somewhere in between - we'll (hopefully) find out at the end of the year! I don't see myself as a minimalist, but I don't have an extensive collection of makeup either. I appreciate the collections of people who fall within both camps but I float somewhere in between - on the one hand, my brow product collection would earn a gold star if we were using a minimalist approach to makeup; my lip product lineup, on the other hand, would not. 🤣 It would most definitely not.  

Why have a capsule makeup collection?  

Everyone will have their own reasons for having (or not having) a more streamlined makeup collection. Over the years, I've just become more interested in having less beauty products on hand (well, except for lip products, lol) - a handful of items I use or reach for more frequently with maybe a few additional products that are go-to's for me for special events or occasions.  Don't get me wrong, I love trying new products and I don't see that changing. I just like the idea of having a simpler collection (I appreciate that "simpler" can be relative), curated to my needs and lifestyle.

Why weekly? 
A few years ago, beauty & lifestyle blogger Serein Wu, did a weekly series (on her blog and YouTube channel), Makeup Bag Monday, where she rotated her makeup bag each week with new product launches and makeup already in her collection. Every Monday, she shared the products she selected for the upcoming week and provided detailed makeup reviews on the makeup she used for the previous week. I may not post detailed reviews, but will at least try to include a weekly recap (probably at the end of the week) of what products I like and which ones didn't work for me.  If weekly works for you, great. If not, feel free to join in based on what works best for you.

What if I don't have enough products to fit the theme for a full face?

No need for your entire makeup capsule to fit the weekly theme(s). Just one will do. And, even if you don't have one that fits squarely within a theme, feel free to post your makeup capsule. We'd love to see what you're using and hear your feedback on the products as you put them to use.

Week 44 - I love the "face on face off" caption! And I love that Fenty bag - kudos for making it all fiiiiit. I know you've posted about it before but I'm super impressed with how you are using up all, and I mean, aaaaalll of that Becca skin tint. Go, girl!! 

Week 45 - Ahhhhh!! Becca skin tint - DONE!!! Awesome work, @danielledanielle with the Becca and also getting caught up! Gotta add fragrance to a sweater weather capsule. Do you wear By The Fireplace and Fall Cashmere separately or do you layer them?

I'm super proud to have finished two complexion products, the other is the Hourglass Mini Ambient® Lighting Powder Radiant Light ,  Hourglass Mini Ambient® Lighting Powder Luminous Lightwhich is showing godet.  I feel like I should get another, but I know I don't need it because that took years to get to do, and it's a mini.  What to do? What to do?

The face off was fun, I ended up pairing those palettes together and getting some decent looks.  The ABH golds are losing some oomph, but everything else still performed well.

Week 41 - yes to lip combos for dynamic duos. Oh, what are your thoughts on the Patrick T Barbie items? I'm crushed the Dior founation stick breaks you out - noooooooo!!! But I think you like the LYS one, yes? That's a good one too. I got a good chuckle with the fits. I mean, there's plenty of bags to choose from but I will fit all of this in heeeerrre!! 🤣

Week 40 was musical artist founded/owned beauty brands. 🎸🎤 I feel like this could also fit that bill - you got your Fenty and I mean, while they may not be musicians by trade, Danessa Myricks and Pat McGrath are rock stars!!

I have fit weeks into a bag, but then I remember a challenge and then I start with options and then I'm like, yeah ok, this is going to need backup.  I stare at my little ipsy bags sometimes like, what am I about to do to you?

Yeah, I'm sad about the stick, it's good otherwise for lightweight coverage and looks so good with star filter.  Going to try to give it to my niece... Even though she doesn't wear complexion products often.

I hope lys one works out, if not I still have my Ami Colé stick.

Week 39 - Awwww, Sephoria. I'm all nostalgic now. You did good with packing lightly with samples. Makes note to self. 🗒  I spy some goodies in your photo - Armani LSF, Dior lip blister packet, SC caffeine eye masks, Summer Fridays SPF.

Ahhhhh, Kevyn Aucoin. Love so much about him and his line. So much about him and his line to love. Including his eye contour palette. His powder face contour was great so yes, it makes sense his eye contour palette would be too! I have a vague recollection I used one in the early days of this capsule ... gonna have to dig through some bins, though maybe easier to go through my pics. 😆

Do you recall what's the product just below the Armani LSF foils, with what looks like the Dior serum (above the Vaseline cocoa lip balm - so good!) to the right of it?

A mini pro filt'r Fenty foundation GWP in a shade that was too light, so I eventually emptied washed it out and use it for foundations that have a pump.  I put in DIOR Forever Glow Star Filter Multi-Use Complexion Enhancing Booster for Sephoria.

Week 45 - The Sweater Weather Makeup Capsule

It's funny how this capsule grew to be so ... option-packed. 😅 I was envisioning something much smaller, but c'est la vie. A mix of well loved beauties and ones I'm trying out again.

• Primer: I'll alternate between Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder🍂 and the Touch in Sol Sherbet Primer - both are products I'd like to get in some more uses of and this seems like as good a time as any.

• Foundation: We have option this week, folks. 😊

          ❤️  Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Perfect Glow Flawless Oil-Free Foundation🍂 - one of my all time favorite foundations and a definite GOAT 🐐. I'm thiiiiisss close to using up the bottle; have been taking off the top to get product out. 

          🌼  Urban Decay Face Bond Self Setting Waterproof Foundation - I love how this one really does self set and is waterproof.

These are the beauties still battling out for a spot in my collection for the next 10 days, give or take. It'll primarily be a battle of these liquid lipsticks this week, with the lip gloss and tinted lip balm coming in to give my lips a little reprieve.

The "Fits":

The bag is from a previous Sephora Favorites set. I chose this one because of the color and slightly cushiony vibe - both remind me of fall and the comfort and coziness of sweater weather. And, like a fall sweater, the beauties all fit snuggly in the bag.

I pulled out more makeup than I needed but it was nice to have options. 😊 I feel like I'm beginning to see what my ultimate makeup collection will look - more variety / options for foundation, lip color, maybe mascara too, and fewer options for products for brows and cheeks.

I definatley think warmer or more neutral tones I really want to try MERIT Flush Balm Cream Blush Mood  I forgot to add it to my sale list I’ll have to pick it up I’ve been seeing a lot of awesome neutral eyeshadow pallete it will be neat to experiment around with different shades 🙂 do you have your eye on anything for this season? @itsfi  ❤️🍁

Mood is a beauty @peculiarzmakeup! At first, I was a little hesitant as I thought it might be too dark but it can be easily sheered out and it goes on very smoothly.

The battle of the red lipsticks has been an interesting one - I feel like I've worn more reds in the last few weeks than I did all year last year and the year before that and the year before that and ... 🤣 I'm excited though about the possibility of having a streamlined collection of reds that I am more inclined to reach for;  and I'll be happy knowing that the ones that don't work for me will go somewhere where they will be used and appreciated.
