Hello, BIC Beauties! If the idea of makeup capsules piques your curiosity, or you're interested in seeing what's in the beauty collection or weekly makeup bag of your fellow BIC beauties, jump right on in - with questions, comments or a capsule of your own to share.

To add a fun take on putting together a makeup capsule, I've included theme(s) for the weekly capsule - some weeks, I have enough products in my stash (eek!) to make a whole capsule based on the prompt; other weeks, I have just one or two items that fit neatly within theme.

Week 49 (December 2 -8) - The Beautifully Bold or Delightfully Demure Makeup Capsule and/or The "Savvy Shopper" Makeup Capsule  

🌺  The "Beautifully Bold or Delightfully Demure" Makeup Capsule prompt was inspired by a comment by the mom of our marvelous @caitbird. Mama caitbird is a gem - bringing broken mugs back to life, making delicious meals and treat. She's a superwoman and it just made me laugh heartily when caitbird shared about an occasion when her mom gave her major side-eye over one of caitbird's stunningly vibrant and beautiful makeup looks of the day

Curate a capsule with the one or more products you use for a beautifully bold or delightfully demure look. Or, a capsule with a mix of these two looks. Also, for this theme, you may want to consider a tie-in with Cheek Challenge Winter 2024/25, The Frost, The Glitz and The Wardrobe for a princess / prince - like flush of color.

What is a capsule makeup collection?  

A capsule makeup collection is a selection of makeup products that can be used to put together different looks for a variety of occasions. For some of us, that may mean a group of essential products for your everyday look plus a few extra items for a more glam or dramatic look; and, for others of us, that may mean, a lineup of our holy grail product(s) in each makeup category. My ideal capsule makeup collection probably falls somewhere in between - we'll (hopefully) find out at the end of the year! I don't see myself as a minimalist, but I don't have an extensive collection of makeup either. I appreciate the collections of people who fall within both camps but I float somewhere in between - on the one hand, my brow product collection would earn a gold star if we were using a minimalist approach to makeup; my lip product lineup, on the other hand, would not. 🤣 It would most definitely not.  

Why have a capsule makeup collection?  

Everyone will have their own reasons for having (or not having) a more streamlined makeup collection. Over the years, I've just become more interested in having less beauty products on hand (well, except for lip products, lol) - a handful of items I use or reach for more frequently with maybe a few additional products that are go-to's for me for special events or occasions.  Don't get me wrong, I love trying new products and I don't see that changing. I just like the idea of having a simpler collection (I appreciate that "simpler" can be relative), curated to my needs and lifestyle.

Why weekly? 
A few years ago, beauty & lifestyle blogger Serein Wu, did a weekly series (on her blog and YouTube channel), Makeup Bag Monday, where she rotated her makeup bag each week with new product launches and makeup already in her collection. Every Monday, she shared the products she selected for the upcoming week and provided detailed makeup reviews on the makeup she used for the previous week. I may not post detailed reviews, but will at least try to include a weekly recap (probably at the end of the week) of what products I like and which ones didn't work for me.  If weekly works for you, great. If not, feel free to join in based on what works best for you.

What if I don't have enough products to fit the theme for a full face?

No need for your entire makeup capsule to fit the weekly theme(s). Just one will do. And, even if you don't have one that fits squarely within a theme, feel free to post your makeup capsule. We'd love to see what you're using and hear your feedback on the products as you put them to use.

Week 38 - The LatinX Founded / Owned Beauty Brands Makeup Capsule

These weekly capsules definitely put into perspective just how much … stuff, I have. 😬 When the idea of a capsule in celebration of LatinX Heritage Month came to mind, I thought I’d have a few items from Rare Beauty and a few other indie brands, enough to check the larger product categories for a full face, if that's the route I wanted to go at any time during the week. Put another way, I thought I would have my fair share of products for the prompt. I didn’t, however, imagine I’d have all of thiiiiis. 😳 

Going to try to put everything to use this week, or as much of it as I can to give the new-to-me items a fair shake. Will try to post swatches as I work through products this week (or when I recap this capsule at the end of the week), but, if there are specific products you'd like to see, let me know.

An asterisk *️⃣ next to a product’s name indicates that this week will be the first time I will be wearing the product. 

COMPLEXION: 

• Ere Perez Lychee Creme Corrector *️⃣ - I was drawn to this because of it containing lychee. It claims to "help neutralise redness, plus disguise imperfections like breakouts and dark circles" and since I can have any one or all of three of those things to deal with, it sounds like it might be an ideal product for me. We shall see.
  
• Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer - My skin is experiencing some redness around my nose and on my cheeks, sun spots, and PIH (post-infllammatory hyperpigmentation) dark spots from a couple of months ago that are sloooowly healing. This tinted moisturizer on its own may not be enought but that's where I'll rely on: 
• Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer 
• Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Mini Always an Optimist 4-in-1 Mist 1.18 fl oz / 35 mL - I may swap this out on various days during the week with either the Dior Forever Perfect Mist Setting (it has performed phenomenally for me at various times over the couple of weeks) or the Charlotte Tilbury Setting Spray (as I'm debating which to incude in the following week's SEPHORiA brands makeup capsule - I know, I know, we just started week 38 and I'm already thinking about week 39. No worries, I'm focused on this week's products.)

EYES: 

• Besame Ella Fitzgerald Eyeshadow Quad has been a great purple hued palette to work with.
• Reina Rebelde Wet Dry Eyeshadow Palette - Azteca  *️⃣ - this quad will be basic, possiibly boring, for many (and I get that) but for me, this is beautifully basic & "boring" in the best way. The shade in the top right quadrant reminds me a little of MAC Club
• Ere Perez Almond Oil Mascara - Mauve - goes on more purple than mauve and should complement both eyeshadow quads nicely. I may pull out a lash primer during the week to see whether that helps the color show up more vibrantly and noticeably on my lashes. 
• Melt Cosmetics Slick Waterline Pencil - Apricot Cream *️⃣ for the waterline - let's see how this compares to my trusty Makeup by Mario favorite.

• Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Kind Words Matte Lipstick Worthy 
• Dominique Cosmetics Creamy Fill & Define Lip Liner - Crush - this is a Top Shelf lip iner for me.
• Dominique Cosmetics Lip Gloss - not sure of the shade name on this gloss; it was, along with the Crush lip liner, part of a holiday set. It's a clear base filled with silver shimmers.
• Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Lip Soufflé Matte Cream Lipstick Kindness *️⃣ 
• Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil Stain Delight is a favorite; I know it's not a popular formula and while there may be more hydrating lip oils on the market, this one leaves a beautiful stain on my lips. 
• Rare Beauty Kind Words Lip Liner - Admired (limited edition) was part of a 2-piece set (Everyday Rose) that, if my memory is correct, was released around the holidays last year or the year before.

@ather, thank you. She really has some great products in her collection. I was happy to see the full line of blush shades available in the mini version - still so much product in that mini size, but it seems a little more manageable to work through; well, it seems that way. Not sure how long it would take to get through one that size. Hmmm... maybe I'll consider it for next year's pan it! challenge. We shall see.

That is quite the collection of Latin founded brands @itsfi  👏🎉 that's a pretty fantastic assortment! I think I first saw this RB bag when @danielledanielle posted about it in the monthly hauls thread. It's so plush!! 😻 The colour scheme feels so zen to me, that's RB all over. It's such a relaxed vibe imo.

I think beautiful basic is an eyeshadow palette we all need. Sometimes it's just the simplest things that we really love and enjoy. 🙂 And just fit the day.

@itsfi Ohh yes I have heard you speak positively about the aroma pen. I did get a mini of the Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Find Comfort Niacinamide Hydrating Hand Cream 1.6 oz / 50 mL that would fit well. I also have a mini blush, highlighter and lip oil that would fit well I am sure. I thought it would be cute to clip the mini tote on my large tote 😆.

I bet it looks so good clipped to a larger tote @Mellmars1185! I have it clipped to a mini backpack.🎒 But I rarely go out with it because I don’t want to get it dirty. So irrational, I know. I thought of getting a back up, to keep one, which is not something I would normally do, but ….
