"Natural" Lip Colors

I just got a "natural" color lip liner in my Sephora Play bag. I also received a red lipstick. Am I supposed to use them together? Does the natural color of the liner soften the outline if my lips or something? I understand from my students that natural lip colors are all the rage right now, but I like my slightly berry real natural color over these brownish naturals with my complexion. So I would be better off just wearing clear lip balm and letting my real natural color through.

@Anonymous With the Play Bag you don't have to use the products together.  It's just there to try out samples of products and see if you will like them or not.
