Where do I start?

I want to expand my lipstick horizons a bit, but I'm feeling overwhelmed. I've been in the tinted balm camp for quite some time. I don't even know what I'm looking for. What is your ideal lipstick? How should it feel, perform, etc? Have you found any that live up to your ideal?

Re: Where do I start?

@Amee3 I love a good satin and matte lipstick. I find that I can make them comfortable to wear with a great lip balm or gloss on top. MAC, Patrick Ta, Charlotte Tilbury and Pat McGrath make some great ones. It is personal preference.

I would definitely check out Pat McGrath lipsticks. They are really popular on here.

Re: Where do I start?

Oh wow! You can put a balm on top of a liquid lip? I will try. Thanks.

Re: Where do I start?

@Amee3 I don't use liquid listicks but wear a lip balm under my lipsticks and glosses.

Re: Where do I start?

@Amee3 lipstick is always so fun!

My favorite balm-y one is Gucci Sheer Lipstick ! It's super comfortable, glides on easily, and has the prettiest packaging.

My favorite stain is the SEPHORA COLLECTION Jelly Melt Glossy Lip Tint Salsa ! These are the perfect stain. Super flattering, non drying, easy to apply, and long lasting! Plus you really can't beat the price. Also, I really love the Bite Beauty Outburst Longwear Lip Stain - sadly there are only 3 shades, but this is the kind of stain you actually need makeup remover to take off. It lasts forever, and the shades are perfect for summer!

My favorite more traditional lipstick is the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Hydrating Lipstick ! Non drying, evenly applies, long wearing for a bullet. I do not like liquid mattes because they dry out my lips so this is a great compromise.

I'm not a big gloss girl, but the DIOR Lip Glow Oil is pretty fab!

Re: Where do I start?

Thank you for these recommendations! I tried a matte liquid recently and that was a big fat no! I liked the idea of being able to "set it and forget it" but how can you forget about something that feels so tight and strangely tacky?
