Suggestions on Colours/Shades to Try

Hey everyone! I absolutely love a nice red lipstick, but I want to shake things up and try something different in the new year. I’d love to hear your suggestions on colours or shades to try that would look on me.  Thank you in advance!

I highly recommend Nars “Cruella”…I am a red lip girl & this is my go to shade when I want to change it up a bit.

Thank you @sister13, @SportyGirly125, and @maaaddiii for your suggestions. I popped into a Sephora today, swatched as many suggestions as a could find, and picked out a few that I liked. I couldn’t justify the price tags for them, so found the closest shades from Sephora collection. I’ve added a pink, burgundy, nude, and an orange-red to my collection. I REALLY loved MAC Cosmetics Matte Lipstick Diva, so I may splurge on the real deal some day. Thank you all again!

@JoSometimes I peeked at my lipsticks for some that I think you might want to try. I’m going to look at my Sephora collection and my other drawer and can make some other recommendations then. 

Here are a few options in so,e different colors. I tend to lean towards pinks and plums and berries. I think you said you might prefer some budget options but I forgot that until after I had swatched these. 

I tried to pick ones I think would be pretty universally flattering. Do you have a Sephora close  y that you can go in?

This MAKEUP BY MARIO MoistureGlow™ Plumping Lip Serum Plum Glow  is so awesome. The texture is thick and glossy. It is a bit minty, I guess that’s the plumping. It’s so pretty and works with a range of eye colors, too.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color Uncuffed  - I didn’t try this one on but swatched it here. It’s one of the few liquid lipsticks I can wear, since it’s not too drying. Love this deep, pinky neutral. It’s one I reach for if I’ve done a bold eye, or I can’t figure out what tone I need, it seems to go with everything.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick Spanked  This looks better on others than on me, but worth checking out. Great long wearing formula.

There is a Sephora in the mall across the street from me and another that’s on my home from work. It’s hard not to stop by once in a while just to browse. I will look up some of these when I pop in again.

Hi @JoSometimes ! I keep meaning to peruse my stash, and will make some recommendations of ones I think will work, I have some ideas.

Can you let me know when you think of it - are there brands or formulas you prefer (matte/glossy/shimmer, etc)?

And, do you have any concerns (like, my lips get super dry so I avoid certain formulas that are very dry). That’ll help me with some recommendations.

Hey @sister13! I have eczema and sometimes it flares up in the corners of my mouth, so I’d like to avoid anything overly drying.

I only have one red matte in my collection. Everything’s else is glossy. I haven’t played around with shimmer. I’m not sure I would use something shimmery much outside of just experimenting with looks at home, unless someone can show me how to incorporate it into an everyday look.

@JoSometimes @What colors are you drawn to or are comfortable in wearing? Do you only like lipsticks? Or are you willing to try lip oils or glosses?

I’m all about going outside your comfort zone but only if it makes you comfortable and happy.

Honestly, I’m feeling adventurous and open to any suggestions. I want to get into pinks and nudes. I’m not sure what darker shades would look good on me. 
As for types of products, you’re the first to introduce me to lip oils. Do you have any recommendations? I’ve only played around with clear glosses. I tend to stay on the budget side of makeup. If I’m unhappy with it, I can always wipe it off and at least I didn’t spend a lot of money on it.

DIOR Lip Glow Oil  are the best. I think the shade Rosewood is real flattering.
