PLUM LIPSTICK TURNS HOT PINK

HELP - I'm a Spring/Autumn, freckles, hazel eyes, strawberry blonde. EVERY PLUM LIPSTICK TURNS HOT PINK - instantly! Every brand, every lipstick with a rose or plum tone. Maybe the orange tone in my skin (peachy) cancels out the blue in the plum????? What can I do to make plum stay plum ? I've tried a liner with lipstick over it - no luck. Lip primer - no luck. Foundation - ick. Tried 2 different plums over each other - all hot pink.

Hahaha. This happens to me too and I have completely different colouring than you.. Maybe it's because your lips are too pigmented (which is a good thing but can be frustrating). I don't like piling foundation on my lips either, but I find canceling out my lip colour with a super pale lip liner helps. I use Mac Naked lip liner. It is a very pale and pigmented beige that gives me an ugly 90s porn star look on its own, but lipsticks look true to colour when I put them on over it. It's pretty much the only thing I've found that helps.
