๐Ÿ’” Glossier Balm Dotcomโ€™s oil separation.

So uh.. my balm dotcom turned to straight oil. Itโ€™s just liquid. It doesnโ€™t feel hydrating it just feels gritty and oily and disgusting on my lips. Itโ€™s basicslly useless now ๐Ÿ˜ญ! Iโ€™ve tried to fix it and iโ€™ve looked up and used as many remedies as I can but nothing seems to work. What should I do with it?

Glossier Balm Dotcom Lip Balm and Skin Salve Original

Glossier, please bring your OG formula back. I beg of you!!!

Re: ๐Ÿ’” Glossier Balm Dotcomโ€™s oil separation.

As a not-so-proud owner of ALL the new formula balm dotcoms I can say for certainty: there's no real fix. What I can recommend is putting the balm in front of a hairdryer, space heater, or any direct/strong force of heat. Use it on the balm for 5-minute increments and then mix in the packaging with your hands. I recommend doing this 2-4 times and then the balm will have melted without melting the packaging. This will keep the balm in good shape for an hour or so, depending on the conditions the balm is kept in. This is not a you issue and its a big issue with all the Glossier Balm Dotcom Lip Balm and Skin Salve Original. In certain months (november-january) Glossier will bring back the original formula directly on their website in festive flavors. During this time I buy and hoard these like a madman to ensure that they'll last me through the year.

I'm thrilled its not just me! I bought the Lavender lip balm and after a couple uses, it was starting to leak a lot of oil. I though I should just wipe it on a tissue when I wanted to use it. But that wasted like half the tube. It was also my favorite lip balm, but what can I do now? ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Glad iโ€™m not the only one with this problem ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’” I also bought the hot cocoa and cookie butter one, never realized how amazing the old formula is.

Re: ๐Ÿ’” Glossier Balm Dotcomโ€™s oil separation.

When did you grab this item/is it continuously stored say standing up in a vanity? If so the product and oils inside could simply be settling and layering atop each other, and just needs to be mixed (give it a good shake, or squish around the tube to mix with the lid closed, it is super normal and totally fine for products with oils inside of them to separate over time!!)

However if there is grit or anything inside the product continuously and not something (say dead skin or spreading debris) on your lip, i would take the product back if you can (you have 60 days, 30 days for refund after so store credit) , check your beauty insider for when you bought it, if you still have the box - absolutely notify the brand with the batch number on the box! If not, still wouldn't hurt to let their support staff know if there is something inside the product that shouldn't be in there! Hope this helps!

Tysm for this!! I bought it a while ago, but after all it was good while it lasted. Learned a lesson to probably store them in cooler areas.
