Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk

Is it just me? Whenever I see this shade in advertisements or Charlottes instagram itโ€™s this beautiful nude pink lipstick yet on me it doesnโ€™t look that way at all. For reference Im very fair skin so my natural lip color is light to rosy pink. Im also talking about the original Pillow Talk, not the newer shades added recently. I really want this color to work! Ilove the color I see in pictures. Just doesnโ€™t translate that way at all on me.

Re: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk

Yes!!!! I wondered if anyone felt the same way. On me it turns sort of orangish. I am fair to medium skin tone, cool pink undertones. I soooo wanted it to work.

RE: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk

Iโ€™ve had the exact same experience. Pillow Talk is so gorgeous just not on my pink porcelain blue based skin. It looks so terra cotta orange. Not good.

Re: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk

Agreed 100%! I love Pillow Talk in the photos but on me it's more brown. I have a lot of natural color in my lips so I have a very hard time finding a true "nude" color. My nude is not the typical nude.

Re: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk

Just wanted to say that Itโ€™s not you! Pillow Talk AND Walk of Shame look nothing like her IG posts and swatches, but I wish they looked like her posts! I wonโ€™t buy anything from her without trying on. Good luck! @amyrs1

Re: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk

The pillow talk liner and lipstick are favorites of mine. My complexion is Light neutral and my lips are naturally very pink and I think that makes the shade appear more pink on me.

I think on fair cool toned/pink complexions the shade would appear more nude than pink. The Duchess and Between the Sheets might be better bets if you don't think PT was pink enough for you.

RE: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk

I agree. I bought it because it looks so pretty on everyone else. Even the lipliner looks horrible on me.

Re: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk

@amyrs1, hi, I invite you to join us on the Charlotte Tilbury thread named Let's talk about Charlotte Tilbury. Pillow Talk lipstick looks terrible on me; it looks beige over my lip tone. Usually I would experiment with lip liner shades underneath it but I've accepted this shade just doesn't work for me. I'm encouraged that one of the new shades of PT should work better, especially the Intense shade.

Re: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk

@amyrs1 the shade definitely pulls a bit more nude on me than some of the models! Definitely why I am excited for the new pillow talk medium. I love the formula but I've definitely done better with other shades - Liv It Up is a really good pink-y shade on me and bond girl is one of my faves as well! I find the temptalia swatches really helpful!

Re: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk

I have the same problem! It pulls really orange on me. I kind of think that most of the CT products are overrated and I've tried most of them. All of the eye palettes/limited editions look the same to me, very warm, too rosy red toned and very sparkly. The foundations don't seem to last long and all seem to oxidize. I need just a little more variety and some cool tones I guess. Oddly, the superstar lips pillow talk does look good on me. It doesn't look the same shade at all compared to the pillow talk matte lip. The cream eyeshadows and stick eyeshadows are very nice though. Good quality and versatile shades.

Re: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk

@Buckeye815, I'm sorry you've had poor experiences with CT products. I've had the opposite experience. It's one of the few brands whose products are part of my daily routine and many wear really well on me. I agree that in recent years, CT has released eyeshadow shades that are overly warm and palettes that are repetitive. That's irritating! There's a strong interest in CT releasing cool-toned eyeshadow shades and palettes. I've been able to pick and choose regular and LE releases to give me variety without much repetition. Her eyeshadows (powder, cream) work well for me as do her powder blushes, mascaras, complexion products (concealers, foundations, powders), and facial cleansers. For me, the weakest part of her line is her lipsticks. I find some shades don't look the same as they do online, and then don't look good on me.
