Any tips for super chapped lips?

The winter weather has killed my lips, they’re chapped, cracked, and bleeding. I’m open to any and all suggestions/recommended products. I drink a ton of water and usually stick to things like coconut oil, castor oil, or Burt’s bees for my lips but none of those things are cutting it any more. Scrubs help temporarily but not in the long run for me :(. I’ll try diy or high end! Any help is super appreciated ❤️

I agree with using a good lip scrub at night then I use the LaNeige sleeping lip mask which o saw was also suggested a little goes a long way plus I swear by the gold spun lip balm by Tatcha it is honestly the beat thing I have ever used. Most things will actually dry your lips but this doesn’t

Have you tried the Laneige lip sleeping mask?  I've used it and I like it pretty well.  It's a little pricey but some people absolutely LOVE the stuff.

Hi @Ceder,

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but exfoliating your lips helps get rid of dryness and flakiness. My current favorite lip scrub is the Dior Addict Lip Sugar Scrub. Use a lip scrub under your lip mask for better results. I hope this helps!

I don't know if you have found something that helps, but I would like to recommend Lancome's absolute precious cells lip balm. don't let the name fool you, it is more than a lip balm and I am a living testimony of this miracle in a tube.

I used to have Ridiculously with a capital R dry lips that I don't wear lipsticks and had no future plans to. I had almost 20 tubes of lip balm stashed every and anywhere and if I left home without my lip balm, I would panic.

well, I went to the mall without my lip balm, and of course, my lips went from dry to chapped so I walked in Hudson's bay just to try a tester lip gloss and walk to the Lancome counter I wasn't planning on buying anything just to use some lipgloss or something. the land at the counter came and we started charting, I pretending I wanting to buy some moisturizing lippie just to get my hand on a sample and she gave me this miracle to try while telling me how amazing this product is. so to test it I did not use any lip balm after I got home and I did not need to, the following morning no chapped or dried lips, after work slightly dry, after work the nest, definitely dry. 2.5 days!!!! well, I went back and got myself a tube.

now this lip balm is expensive and you kinda need to have very very very dry lips to appreciate it, if you don't it would seem like a can$50 ordinary lip balm. I still use vaseline at night because its 50 bucks and I want it to last as long as possible and I use it twice a day during the day. when I first got it I was using it 3 times including night. 1 tube lasts me about 3 months now.

Although this does not make your lips dry you would still have some dead skin cells on your lips and will need to scrub your lips about twice a week

sorry for the long post, I just get excited when I talk about this balm.

I used to  have the same problem and what helped me was a cheap, but VERY emollient drugstore lip balm WITH SUNSCREEN. I learned the hard way that sun exposure contributes a lot to lip trouble. so I use Alba Botanica lip balm with SPF 25. It is not expensive and has a  little greasy feel  (which is a pro, rather than a con for me). Another thing that I learned the hard way is to always REAPPLY the lip product as frequently as needed -- after meals, after coffee, after washing your face -- your lips should never go bare. I keep the  balm in my bag and use it on average every 4 hours. My lips became healthy again after years of being a cracked bloody mess.

1. At night, before bed, use a high lanolin product; I use 100% lanolin. The most inexpensive options can be found as mommy nipple cream in the baby department of any department store. This will help with dry, cracked lips. 2. Exfoliate lips with good, alcohol free lip scrub no more than 3 times a week and just before special occasions. Try to exfoliate lips right after getting out of the shower or bath. If you have to exfoliate at any other time, place warm, moist cloth over lips for a few minutes prior to exfoliation. For a quick exfoliant mix 1 tablespoon EXTRA FINE sugar or salt, 1 teaspoon oil or emollient butter, 1/4 teaspoon fresh lemon juice with a pinch finely grated lemon rind and 1 teaspoon honey. Keeps about a week refrigerated. 3. Be careful with matte lip products, they are extremely drying. Use a very emollient lip color, blot and reapply 3 times. Afterwards lightly apply Laura Mercier or GOOD quality setting powder for great matte finish. 4. For fuller lips without using irritants, double overline lips. For outer line, use clear or white lip liner high with smear proof wax product favored by persons with lip creases/wrinkles. For inner line, use high wax smear proof lip or eye liner of your choice. Apply lip product as outlined in 3. This will make your lips look fuller. I hope this helps. Good luck!!!

That's an awful problem to have.  I personally like Tatcha's lip balm.  I also recently discovered MAC's Tendertalk Lip Balm, which comes in 5 shades, I believe. It is really moisturizing and the effects last a long time.

I really like Bite Agave Lip Balm or mask.  They have lanolin.

Bag balm has always been a huge go to for me until I started making my own soap and balms. The mini tin fits perfect in your purse and the lid is nice and tight! Great choice!

@Ceder  Another tip is to try something with Lanolin, if you're not allergic or sensistive to it.  My favorite Lip remedy is Dr. Lipp's Miracle Balm.  Good luck! ❤️

@Ceder I have this exact problem. 

I'd recommend using a lip mask at night before you sleep (Bite lip masks are great. So is plain vaseline if you're okay with things slipping and sliding) 

On the go, I adore Hurraw lip balms (these are hands down the best best lip balm I've ever tried. Lots of cute flavors and keeps my lips non-chapped. I prefer this over Burt's Bees, Paw Paw, Uriage etc). Rosebud Salve is also good. Both are in the $6~8 range. Cheaper if you buy bulk at iHerb. 

Before applying makeup (liners, lipstick, liquid lip etc), I like applying Dior's lip plumper, or any sort of plumper as a primer. Let it sit for a bit and wipe off the excess.
