Hi BIC!
A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.
While I certainly take it as a compliment, I'm not sure the oh so lovely @NotCrocker will appreciate being confused with me. Besides, there's no Sun Chip dust on my shoulders, so I'm not sure how you got us mixed up in the first place? Tee hee 😛 😛 😛
Cherries In The Snow has been a surprise hit for me...it stayed comfy, barely wore down, even with eating, and has been an all around pleasure to wear!
@heartsmyface Haha oh yes, this definitely not me! But @RGbrown is really rocking the magentas! Cherries in the Snow is really lovely, what a nice sheen to it!
And truly @RGbrown, happy to be confused for you, you always rock some great looks! And sometimes I like to imagine what my hair could be sans SunChips. The crunch gets unruly sometimes!
@RGbrownHaha I'm wearing the Cherries in the Snow nail polish right now. Both colors look great on you!
Thanks so much!
I had to do a little digging...I remembered the shade from my childhood, so I knew it had been around a good long while, but dang...1952! 😮
@RGbrownI decided to look up the history of the nail polish. Here's a copy of what I read, talking about red nail polish:
The first commercial incarnation was created in 1932. In the midst of America's Great Depression the only shades of nail enamel available were pale and transparent. Brothers Charles and Joseph Revson paired up with a chemist named Charles Lachman (the 'L' in Revlon) to create the first opaque nail enamel. They did this by introducing a pigmented formula, which they sold door-to-door, starting with "Cherries in the Snow", a red that remains a bestseller.
Oh, that old? Wow! I saw so many conflicting dates, but '52/'53 seemed like the general consensus...I wonder if they meant that's when it started moving from door-to-door or low-scale production into a more mass market item? In any case, it's definitely a classic, and a lovely one at that!
@RGbrown That would sound about right, here is the article I read. independent dot co dot uk/life-style/fashion/features/how-revlon-created-the-scarlet-woman-7606558.html
Today we've I've got Nyx Slip Tease Lip Lacquer in the shade Karma Suit Ya on the lips.
First time I'm wearing it, we'll see how it ends up.
Great berry shade on you, @adnamac. Looks beautiful with your skin tone😊
@adnamac ahh yes killllllin it! You’re actually the queen of lip to look coordination haha. nyx has always been hit or miss for me, so I’d be curious to find out how this one performs for you!
I don't know about being the master of coordination, but I do try! lol
As for how it wore...wellll...it feathered like crazy after only two or so hours. I don't usually wear lipliner - but I might give it another try with an anti-feathering liner I have rolling around in my makeup drawer and see what happens.
Photo of the feathering in the spoiler tag.
@adnamac Ahh no that sucks about the feathering! But aside from that it seems to have done ok, especially in the middle. Maybe liner can save this one! Thanks for the update 😍
Wow! That is a gorgeous color on you @adnamac! So lush!
Love, love this color!!
Got a bit of a slow start this morning, but I’m feeling presentable today 😂 this is the Bite amuse bouche lipstick in Nori (as seen on the lovely @jozkid earlier in this challenge). I find my traditional lipstick bullet application is always a mess versus a liquid or crayon, so I tried to mitigate that with the Bite lip pencil in 046. I think it made it marginally better... will be working on that haha
@cianni Omg you are so pretty! Love this lip colour on you.
I’m just going to sound like a broken record but this is a great color on you, @cianni!
@eshoe thank you!! I’m trying to break out of my comfort zone a bit haha 😂
