100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

If you hadn't started this challenge, I would not have gone out of my comfort zone or would have a hard time choosing what lipstick to wear for the day these past few months, lol. I think we all got new lipsticks and it was fun seeing the same shades on many different people!! Cant wait for Round 2! 🙂

@snoflakefaerie congratulations on finishing the challenge!! Those are great observations, and it seems to have been a great learning experience! You did pretty well for a low buy during the entire time - especially because most came in that bite set of minis. I love how you were able to use a bunch of the GWP/samples etc - I find those are usually the toughest to use. I can’t believe you have 150 more!! Round two up next 🎉🎉

That's amazing @snoflakefaerie ! I love seeing them all assembled together and thank you for both starting the challenge and that very thoughtful reflection. I agree, when you start testing your collection as a whole, you start to realize patterns and preferences that perhaps weren't obvious and it also serves as a great side by side comparison of formulas. I briefly got caught up in the liquid lipstick hype before realizing that the formula (with just a few exceptions) is just not for me, no matter how much love it gets on insta or youtube or everywhere else 🙂

Today I haven’t worn any lipstick yet, and yesterday I repeated a shade. But here’s a bonus photo from Tuesday night (the day I wore the Sulwhasoo lipstick): this is Clove + Hallow Lip Creme in Damsel.

I’d never tried anything by Clove + Hallow before. I bought this (and a 2nd lipstick I might test later today) as part of my “what to gift to my all-natural-makeup loving friend” search: I don’t want to give her something I can’t vouch for. It’s a comfy satin with great pigmentation. It feathered a bit all along my bottom lip, though. I need to test it again with a liner, since my friend almost always wears liners with lipsticks anyway. If it still bleeds, then I won’t buy a tube for her—and I won’t keep this one for myself, either. And that’ll be a bummer because it’s a very nice red.

Bummer that this festered since it’s a pretty shade. I’ve nevwr heard of this brand before, but hopefully it wears better with a liner.

Its a good red but you definitely have a dupe in that shade @WinglessOne. I havent tried this one either, but how about Elate Cosmetics? I signed up for their email because of their natural ingredients but cant seem to pull the trigger and order from them. They have great bamboo packaging. 🙂

Hmm, I haven’t looked into Elate Cosmetics. Thanks for the suggestion, @Buootiful! I’ll check them out. Meanwhile, the Clove + Hallow lipstick I tried has been spoken for: another friend wants it if I don’t, despite the feathering issue. Hooray! 

My declutter effort isn’t done yet. In addition to wear-testing the rest of my “declutter limbo” candidates, I need to swatch all my dupes and decide which ones to keep. I recently did this with all my oxbloods. It’ll be more painful when I get to my purples and reds.
