100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

I’m one of the folks who decided to keep going after my 100th day. 🙂 Since I sometimes wear more than one lipstick a day (sometimes I do 2 or 3 wear tests a day to decide what to declutter; other times, I layer or ombré 2 or more shades; some days I just impulsively switch lipsticks once or twice), I’d worn 118 lipsticks by the time I reached my day 100. I don’t know what number day I’m on now, but I’m on lipstick number 219 with plenty more to go, so I’ll be around this thread quite a bit longer. 🤣

Today I decided to be a makeup chemist and do some creative mixing.  I call the shade Beach Dust.  It’s not too dry, too glossy, wore well and reminded me of the beach.  It was too breezy to actually go in the water but I did end up at the beach.  Basecoat Bite lipstick pen, then Queen Supreme JS, NYX butter lipstick followed by a bit of Acid Fairy Diamond Crusher by LimeCrime.

Lina Choo The Great Artist Velvet Matte Lipstick in Van Gogh. It’s my first Lina Choo lipstick. It arrived last night and I’m wear-testing it today. I’ve been sick most of the day, so I haven’t done makeup or even taken a shower. I did manage to wash my face, at least. 

No makeup except lipstick. Wearing yesterday’s shirt. Kinda wanna crawl back into bed, honestly.

This formula is a demi-matte, not a true matte finish. Much creamier in feel and finish than a PMG MatteTrance, but not as creamy as a LuxeTrance. Stays comfy on my lips longer than a Givenchy Rouge Interdit, with no drying. It mostly survives multiple cups of coffee and water, but that also makes it gather in my lip lines. Luckily, the stripes aren’t very noticeable with this shade unless you’re very close to me (or looking in a 10x mirror), and I can rub my lips together to redistribute color without much coverage loss. Oh, and it has a vanilla scent, almost like a sugar cookie. The scent is very light during application and doesn’t last long at all. I need to wear it a few hours longer to give better feedback on its longevity and weardown. 

Meanwhile, look at this packaging. I didn’t expect to feel like I was opening a special gift, but here we are. The case has a magnetic closure, for those of us who like to play with magnetic bullet cases. 🙂
