Hi BIC!
A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.
@WinglessOneUnidentified
Thanks so much!
I committed myself to giving this one a good shot...I'm bad about giving up quickly, especially with glosses. It took about 30 minutes for the color to fully develop and lose the grey tint (this pic was after 10 or so, and I didn't figure it needed more than that, but I was wrong). It turned into a lovely sheer berry that I could actually see myself wearing quite frequently. It left a nice stain, a little heavy around the edges so as to need touching up in the middle from time to time, but I was ok with that.
But...it also feathered pretty badly (and the feathering stained), and the more I reapplied, the more I noticed the scent. I don't know how I didn't smell it when I first put it on, but with every reapplication, it got stronger and stronger. It's a super sweet floral that started to make me a touch queasy at the end, so sadly, this will be decluttered. 😥
Trying it over some other shades was going to be on the agenda...but I don't think I'm going to after all. 😐
@RGbrown Glad to hear you liked the color/effect, even if it took a bit longer than expected to show up. Bummed to hear about all the feathering, though. 😞 I’d say “use a lip liner with it,” but then you’d have to find the right shade of lip liner for this particular color transformer... or you could use a clear liner or primer but, well, that’s extra work.
And the work might not be worthwhile anyway, thanks to the scent. The bullet version’s also scented, though not as heavily (to me) as the gloss version. The bullet does have an annoying smaste effect that takes 30-45 minutes to disappear. Otherwise I’d recommend trying the bullet. I wish I could think of a similar lipstick... Lipstick Queen makes one (I think it’s called Lace Rabbit), but it’s got some glitter, which is kinda odd for a darkening “intensifying” transformer. Anyway, sorry this one didn’t work out.
I've got a transformer from Estee Edit (I think that's the brand) that came in one of the very first Sephora Favorites sets I bought right after I got into makeup. I don't think I've ever actually tried it lol...as much as I love lipstick, I never think about making it a multi-step process. One shade and I'm done 😛
I really wish this one wasn't scented. Seeing the shade it turned into, I might actually be willing to pull out a clear liner for it. I need to compare though...I think it might be a similar shade to my Physicians Formula pH gloss, and if so, I certainly don't need a dupe (I love the PF one...it's the only pH transformer that's ever done much for me).
I like it @RGbrown. I can see it on you and I think the color is flattering on you.
Okay, I need to finish my goal of 50 lipsticks. But, I've been traveling over the holidays and then caught the flu. I finally had to venture out to get more cough medicine today, and since I look like death, I dabbed on a little lipstick with clean fingers so I wouldn't contaminate the lipstick tube. Here's my 45th lipstick, Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick Candy Venom.
Past lipsticks:
oh nooooooooooo! Get well soon @txcatx! I had the flu in college and I legit felt like I was dying, a total of 2 or 3 weeks just flat out delirious. I most definitely would not have had the presence of mind to use my finger to avoid contamination! Brilliant and PLUSH!
Thanks, @MissPuff! Wow, 2-3 weeks of flu sounds awful. I'm on day 5 or 6 and already feeling better--I just feel bad for the people who sat near me on an airplane a few days ago!
Oh no @txcatx I am so sorry you caught the flu; last year I had it for the first time and it was awful. I really hope you recover fully and that your immune system kicks it up so you don’t get sick again😞
Thanks, @eshoe! I've been super cautious because I once ended up with pneumonia after the flu, and that's not something I ever want to experience again!
Remember when swine flu was going around about 8 years ago @txcatx? My whole family got it. I was the last one and got hit worst. Five full days of fever and sweating and listening to my lungs wheeze. And as soon as the fever broke, it started to spike again because I got walking pneumonia. Oy. One of my twins ended up getting hospitalized with pneumonia after it, too. The flu is no joke!
Oh no @txcatx! They’ve been saying on the news that it’s supposed to be a bad flu season. I hope you’re feeling better. Your lips look lovely as always!
The Mattemoiselles look really nice when finger-dabbed (I’ve done that with Freckle Fiesta a few times), and Candy Venom’s no exception. It looks so soft and plush on you, @txcatx. I hope you feel better soon! Boo to the flu!
Thanks, @lmaster and @WinglessOne!
And I don't know why it took me so long to try the Mattemoiselles--I had a mini of this one sitting in a drawer for a good year or so. The formula is pretty nice!
I really like it, @SnugglePuggle94! I'm glad it's comfortable!
@SnugglePuggle94 I’m with @MissPuff. It’s a great color on you and you can wear this anywhere!
I second with @jozkid, you can @SnugglePuggle94!
@SnugglePuggle94 I really love how bright and happy this color is! I think you can rock this lippie anytime!
