Hi BIC!
A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.
Thanks @WinglessOne ! I don’t think I could eat enough carrots to help me read that label. I’ll have to go to the website and see what looks purple.
I do this as well @WinglessOne -- glad to see I'm not the only one. 🙂
Another tactic that helps me view small print is using my phone's flashlight widget, as sometimes some more light on the subject will do the trick. Not sure if that works with Lancome labels. I will have to try it out to determine where the cut off is for the flashlight's helpfulness.
edit: I am so peeved nowadays by how shiny a lot of text is. My most recent example, one of my credit cards, and trying to read off the number over the phone. I had a very hard time because the numbers were so unnecessarily shiny!
Ooh I’m glad you tried one of these I’ve been wondering about them as well. This color is really classy on you @divaknits .
Looks great! And sounds comfy, so all in all, it sounds like a nice gloss!
Those micro lancome stickers are simply horrible. If anything, it's probably only got a number on it anyways, and then you'd still have to look up the name somewhere else 🙄
Thanks @RGbrown ! It is a nice gloss. They should be ashamed of how small they make the labels. I don’t think I could’ve read that when my vision was 20/20.
Hmmm, @RGbrown @divaknits makes me wonder if we have some image matching tech in our information retrieval lab at work that could be modified to locate full sized based on samples based on color matching and metadata. Sorta co-op image search algorithms to lipstick matching. Unless there is something already out there with open source code I could tweak just for the lipstick issues we got going on. Could make a good conference paper. Hmmmmmm like the try on thing Sephora and other cosmetics websites have, but more robust for the avid collector. Here I am exposing my geekdom 🤓
@Weetart I’m honestly surprised a lipstick shade search doesn’t exist yet. A friend and I were just walking about this last week—well, actually we talked about Google’s algorithms (neither of us has ever worked for Google but we’ve had to deal with them in our lines of work) and wondered how many people have tried certain types of image searches. That led to makeup searches, specifically lipstick shades. We wondered what it would take to tweak Google’s algorithms such that you could share/upload a photo of a lipstick shade (a swatch, an uncapped tube, someone wearing it, etc.) and get search results of possible matches, complete with brand, lipstick line, shade name, and maybe price.
Of course, Google’s kinda protective of their algorithms—but with all the data at their disposal, you’d think they’d be all over this by now. 😄 It’s definitely a good conference paper topic.
That search capability would be great. I don't know how the algorithm would work. Make a friend at Google and keep planting the thought in their head! As usual, the amount of knowledge you have about makeup always impresses me. You are without a doubt an encyclopedic resource. Glad you're here on BIC @WinglessOne
Aw, thanks so much @sprocketta ! ☺️ Honestly, anyone can know what I know with research and a willingness to self-test things. And okay, maybe also with a crazed obsession with certain kinds of makeup. 😂
I'm not 100% certain what you just said, but it sounds awesome 😂
Colour Pop Disney Villains in Maleficent. I keep wearing this and forgetting to take pictures. It is a fantastic lipstick. Gorgeous color and it lasts all day, even with eating. It's pretty impressive. Well played CP, well played.
Shout out to thank the lovely @Buootiful for gifting me this.
Maleficent is very pretty on you!
That is a beautiful shade on you @sprocketta 🥰👍 colourpop has stepped up their game.
They really have @2manyperfumes I'm so impressed by these.
Niice! Both of the colors suit you really well <3<3<3 @sprocketta
