Hi BIC!
A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.
It definitely pulls a bit more grey on me too IRL. I'm not sure whether to curse or thank my camera some days lol 😛
Hahahaha, definitely a teeny tiny baby, even for us. It's so cute, I know 😛
@RGbrown you're not junking it are you?? it's too beautiful to die 🙂

I think I'll hang in to it, more for novelty than anything. I don't think I'll wear it much, but it was well behaved throughout the day, and quite comfy, so maybe I'll need a light blue someday 😊
Ahoy Matey looks better on you than it did on me, @RGbrown!
I’m one of those weirdos who like snow (eh, I was born on the winter solstice and raised in Michigan), so I love the first real snowfall we get here. Few simple pleasures are better than crunching footprints into a thick blanket of untouched snow. 🙂 Fall’s still my favorite season, and I’m kinda bummed at how short it’s gotten over the years... we had temps in the 70s until about the 10th day of October, then someone decided to flip the off switch on summer and it was suddenly in the 40s ands 50s—but those fall temps didn’t last long, and now it’s in the 30s.
Anyway, Chicago doesn’t get as much snow as I’m used to getting in Michigan. I’ve lived in this city for 25 years and honestly, the wind off the lake and subzero Januarys are far more common than lots of snow. I mean we do get a good amount of snow, and we’ve had a couple of snowpocalypse storms I can remember. But sometimes I miss seeing 12+ inches of snow without lake effect wind. I saw snow in the weather forecast yesterday and thought “oh great, so it’ll be a 2” dusting at most, big deal.” I was in Atlanta one year for a business trip when an inch of snow literally shut the city down. 😄 I’ll never let my ATL coworkers live that down.

I like one good snow a year, for a day or two. And living in the south, it really only happens once every 3-4 years. We'll get a flurry here and there, but never ever this early...any snow we get usually comes Jan-Mar. Not that I'd really even consider this a real flurry...it wasn't really anything more than a smattering of a hint of snow. But still...way too early for us to hit freezing, much less have anything frozen falling yet.
And yup, snow shuts us down completely. Since it's so rare, no one has the equipment to deal with it. Cities send out garbage trucks with makeshift scrapers attached to the front (and just fark the roads up more than anything) and there'll be a few sand trucks for the interstates and major roads, but other than that, we're a bit helpless. I can't even get off my road (uphill) if it ices over; a few years ago, someone had to abandon their car for three days after sliding down the hill and into our mailbox (cast iron post...solid as a rock, but messed up the back end of the car pretty good🤭). The tow truck that came to get them wound up needing two more tow trucks to pull it back up once it became obvious it was stuck too 🤣
More than anything though, I hate the cold. I love a little snow, but wish there was a way to enjoy it in warmer temps 😂
@RGbrown Yeah, ice is bad no matter where you live, especially when hills, or even a slight incline, are involved. Aside from icy conditions, I keep telling the Atlanta crew they should start a driving school to teach folks how to drive on snow (and ice, while they’re at it) and in the rain. Seems like a missed business opportunity! I’m sure plenty of us northerners would happily trade several pounds of road salt for various southern goodies. 🙂
To experience snow without the cold, visit Denver! A friend from Denver once visited me in January. He was shocked by the cold as we walked around downtown. Apparently Denver doesn’t get very cold—at least not what I’d call cold. My friend had to buy a “real winter coat” while he was here. 😄 He tried to guess the temperature: “it must be, what 20 degrees? No? 10 degrees? NO? Is it ZERO degrees right now?!” I just laughed and said “you don’t wanna know how cold it is. You’re better off believing it’s zero.” Poor guy. Made him better appreciate the weather back home. I’m told it’s really pretty there when it snows, and quite a bit warmer.
By warmer, I meant 80+ (my true comfort zone) 😛 😛 😛
Oh man not me @RGbrown. I’d much rather deal with zero degrees than 90s. When we first got engaged, my hubs and I were in a rowing competition in Atlanta in August (ugh!). It was the first time I heard of the heat index. Sort of like wind chill in reverse. 😁. I remember it being about 112 degrees with the heat index. It was during that competition my fiancé had to go to the ER for heat exhaustion. I don’t have warm fuzzies about that trip. Give me the cold ANY day! 😉

"It's not the heat, it's the humidity" 😋 The older I get, the more I hate the full blown sticky, sweaty heat, but I still prefer it over being cold any day. I'm also extremely cold natured...somewhere around 50-60, my feet get cold and I'm just plain miserable.
Heat exhaustion is no joke though...glad your sweetie came through ok 😊
I really like the unexpected drama of the bare face with the blue lips. Your weather is like STL weather - we had a pretty big snow last night! Fall was like a week..maybe!
@Jbird1999Unidentified
Thanks so much!
Yes, I think this has been a weird fall almost everywhere! We had cooler than normal temps for a couple of weeks, but no real fall season. Leaves didn't even get a chance to turn and drop...they're still on the trees down here. Normally I've swept up or blown off at least one big pile, if not two, off the driveway by now, but nope. I imagine that'll happen soon now that we've had a solid freeze. It's so weird.
Called it @RGbrown! Two hour delay on school today! 👍
@RGbrown you’re too funny! I live on the dividing line getting between 2-4 inches and 4-7 inches tonight. My husband and I are trying to figure out if they’ll cancel school tomorrow or just delay it a couple hours. We’re leaning toward delay. It was in the 30s today and two of my kids would only wear hoodies to school. New Englanders are a hardy (and weird) bunch. 😜
@jozkidUnidentified
2-4 inches here, and we'd be shut down for a week 😋
Being born and raised in the south, I'm definitely not hardy at all. Weird though...yup, but I think everyone has their own special version of weird anyways 😁
Lol @RGbrown! My husband (a northerner) went to law school in NOLA. He said when it hit the 50s the older ladies would break out the furs while the folks from up north would still be in shorts.
