100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

@sprocketta That's a great deal for the 7 mini lipsticks! I did find that the mini Dwarves lipsticks from Besame had a different feel than the full-sized lipsticks I have from Besame (especially their reds).

It was a great deal @lachaton  I couldn't resist.  The texture is weird.  I wish I could try one of their regular lipsticks as I've always thought their reds looked lovely.  But no place to do that.

Is this your first Besame experience, @sprocketta? Some of their lipsticks are very waxy and take a while to get used to. I kinda like that pink on you! It looks more cool toned on your lips than it does in the bullet. If I was a seasonal lipstick person, I’d call it a fun winter pink. 

And now that song’s stuck in my head, too. 😂 It’ll make my afternoon meetings more interesting.

I think it’s pretty 🙂 Never thought it would’ve come out bubble gum pink like that from the picture of the bullet, it looks darker! I think the dark shirt helps a bit as if you were wearing some light I think that the pink would probably wash you out though 😉 Maybe try it with another shirt like something navy or a darker color but not black and see how it goes!

Lorac Pro Satin Lip Crayon in Currant. I adore this color and I don't think I have anything else like it, but in the hour or so I've had it on, it has worn down noticeably and irregularly, leaving heavy stripes in my lip lines. Might be a declutter candidate, but will give it the rest of the day as a test. (edit: after 2ish hours, it started feathering everywhere. Declutter...I don't appreciate having to work for a lipstick 😛 )

Aw, that’s really too bad @RGbrown. It looks like a blue-based red pushed right to the edge of almost-berry. It’s a fantastic color, especially with that beautiful dark eye look. But decluttering is the right thing to do. 🙂

I'm not sure I've really seen anything like it (ok, I'm sure there's a dupe out there somewhere lol)...it's somewhere between a deep berry and a softened burgundy. It's really quite a lovely color...I may have to hang on to it just to take it with me on a swatch journey. I'd love to find a better formula in a similar shade.

@RGbrown I’ve been trying to think of dupes, but each one is either too red or too berry. Chasing shades is partly how folks wind up with hundreds of lipsticks 😂 but hopefully you can find testers to swatch in person and compare to this shade.

I’m honestly surprised I can’t think of a dupe in my collection... and if there’s one in my declutters, I probably wouldn’t recommend it anyway. But if I think of one, or find one, I’ll let you know!

I've been curious about Glossier's Generation G lipsticks since they came out, but when I saw that they reformulated the product and fixed packaging issues this year, I finally picked one up during their Black Friday sale. The formula is unlike anything I have. It's definitely a sheer matte as described by the brand, but it's like a very slightly tacky and slightly dry tinted lip balm with color that somehow manages to last way longer then a tinted balm. This is about three swipes of the shade Jam.

@txcatx I’ve also been curious about Generation G (I still love Glossier’s Cloud Paints) but, for some reason, didn’t buy one during the sale. Your description of the formula sounds... interesting. I like the idea of a sheer matte, but I can imagine how a slightly dry balm would feel. I wonder if wearing this over my usual liquid matte base (balm + primer) would help. Hmm. Anyway, it’s very pretty on you!

@WinglessOne Some of the reviews I had read compared the texture to a dried up lipstick, like when you've left the cap off of a lipstick. I thought it felt a little more like a somewhat dry balm, and it definitely takes several swipes for the color to show.  It doesn't feel as dry once it's on your lips. I was expecting it to feel like Dior Lip Glow in the matte shades, but the Glossier surprisingly has a better texture than the Dior, in my opinion. The only other lipstick I have in a somewhat similar texture is the Shu Uemura matte lipstick, but that one feels more cushiony, if I recall correctly. 

I don't get to check BIC every single day, but I'm honestly surprised that Glossier doesn't show up more often in lipstick challenges. I know there's a Glossier brand thread around here, but it stays mostly quiet--probably because not a lot of new products are released regularly.

@lmaster No, I just went with the color I would wear most often, and I'm not sure I like the formula or the other colors enough to buy another one. I ended up getting the set that has a lipstick, brow gel, and concealer at a discounted price, plus the extra 20% off Black Friday deal.
