Hi BIC!
A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.
@RGbrown 😂 Luckily, there are about half as many shades (for now) of Bobbi Brown’s than Lancôme, so there aren’t too many to collect when you think about it that way... not to encourage lipstick junkie habits but, I’m just sayin’. 🤣
I’m still hoping Lancôme doesn’t release any more shades this year. Well, except for something completely out of their comfort zone, like a teal or blue or black. A black L’Absolu Lacquer with a pearly pewter shift would be AMAZING, and probably easier to create than a well-performing blue. Other than that, I think Lancôme’s run the gamut of pinks, corals, reds, golds, and berries. I have both of their purples and they could expand that color family a bit. Or they could release no new shades and save some of us a lot of money. 😂
Yes, I am thankful that the BB range is much smaller than Lancome's lol, although since it isn't at Ulta, I don't get as many deal-making opportunities, so it may wind up more costly in the end, even though there aren't as many 😛 I think I've only got 5 or 6 on my wish list anyways, so hopefully it won't be too bad if I decide I need more.
Lancome could definitely use more purples (though I still haven't gotten the darker one to work for me...it's a streaky mess), and more berries/pinks that lean purple...pretty much all of the bright pinks are various shades of pink-pink, or red-pink. They need to take Power Rose and start adding more blue to lean more towards purple...there's whole spectrum of shades missing in there, IMHO. I'd love to see more darker reds as well, deeper and richer than the candy apple ones they have now, all the way to burgundy.
That might even be a black I grab. Love the pewter shift idea, way more than gold which seems to get used more often.
Basically, what I want them to do is take all bazillion UD Vice shades and make them into Lacquers. Is that too much to ask? 😛
That color looks beautiful on you @WinglessOne!❤️
Buxom Shimmer Shock in Thunderbolt
I love these, and have multiple colors. It's a very balm-like formula, comfy and simple, semi-sheer but still nice coverage. Lots of glitter too, but not gritty. This particular shade is "neutral" in my book...enough color to still be bold without being so bright that it takes away from a bold eye look.
@RGbrown So pretty! Will have to check out that lip shade!
Sephora has these in the sale section, but not sure what colors are left (not many, last I checked). I've also seen them at Nordstrom Rack for around $5. They are totally awesome, but I think they're getting hard to find...Ulta cleared them out something like a year ago. If you can find any though, totally snag them up!
@RGbrown Thanks for the details! I looked at Sephora, and only one was left (not the color you wore). I realized that I do own one of these - I think it's called Pyro. 🙂
That color is so pretty @RGbrown! I love the bold eye❤️
Thanks so much! It felt so nice to put a little effort into some makeup today! ❤️
Today I wore Jouer High Pigment Lip Gloss in Shibuya, tamed at the corners by a darker red (Black Up Lipstick in No. 16). I stalked this shade for a long time before finally ordering it. Did not realize exactly how bright it is in person. 😄 This photo doesn’t do it justice. On me, it’s a very bold strawberry red. This particular gloss is quite shiny but also very streaky during application. Takes some real effort to get an even coat. This is one of my “I should return this (to Nordstrom) but I love the color... but it’s so streaky... but THE COLOR omg” lipstick junkie moments. Sigh... I’ll give it one more chance, and if I can’t easily make it behave the second time, then it’s going back.
In other news: this photo confirms that the new concealer shade I tried today is too yellow/gold toned for me. Feh. When your face has 3 different skin tones/undertones, color matching is super fun!
@Weetart Especially when an in-store MUA tries to colormatch foundation or concealer for you. Parts of my face have a neutral undertone. Other parts have an almost olive undertone. Some parts kinda look like a warm undertone. Add some hyperpigmentation and surface redness to the mix, and we’ve got a recipe for bad/wrong foundation matches. 😄 That’s one of the reasons I very rarely wear foundation.
