Hi BIC!
A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.
You just make them all look so beautiful @WinglessOne
Are the Chinatowns still out? I’m still trying to find my way with Lipstick Queen even though I’ll admit I liked the way Frog Prince felt. Both look good on you @WinglessOne . Then again I haven’t seen you in a bad lipstick. 🙂
@divaknits I got my Chinatown pencil from Space NK, but they’re sold out now. 😞 Not sure if Lipstick Queen direct has them in stock anymore. Some of the LQ transformer lipsticks don’t do much for me; Hello Sailor was my biggest disappointment. A couple others (besides Frog Prince) work well on me, like Blue By You which gives me a sparkly semi-sheer raspberry look.
LQ does also make fully pigmented, non-transforming lipsticks, like their Lipstick Chess line of bullets, and the Sinner bullets. I want to try their Rear View Mirror Lip Lacquer. Ulta has all of those LQ lines. 🙂 I’d order them from Ulta before Space NK, mostly because Ulta’s return policy is better.
I love that colour Mystery on you- it's so pretty!
@WinglessOne Both shades are lovely on you. I think I want to try exercising in lipstick...maybe it will be motivational in some way?
Thanks @PrettyPaint ! And honestly, I can’t exercise in any makeup except brow pencil. 😂 (And even then, it’s gotta be a brow pencil that can survive a lot of sweat.) That’d be a fun lipstick wear-test, though: can it withstand 1 or 2 bottles of water, increased body temp, and buckets of sweat? 😄
@WinglessOne I think I’m up for the challenge! And I do tend to wear brow pencil when working out as well. That’s the number one product I need...brow product!
@PrettyPaint I hear you. I won’t leave home with undone brows unless the building’s on fire or I’m being chased by zombies (the fast moving kind, not the slow lumberers), or some other emergency requiring immediate evac. I don’t know how I manage to wipe my forehead during/after workouts without obliterating my brows. I must subconsciously wipe around them. 😂
Lol I cannot live without my eyebrow pencils so I’m laughing my head off. Yes that sums it up. It’s taken years for them to somewhat grow back. I used pure castor oil on them nightly for over a year and multi vitamins. Don’t know if it works but mine are better now still pretty thin. Plus they are lighter because my real hair colour is auburn. Lol so I have reddish eyebrows and lashes.
@2manyperfumes Sadly, my brow tails—actually, the entire back half of both brows—have always been sparse. At least I can blame that on genetics instead of overplucking, which I was also guilty of for a year. 😞 My brows mostly grew back on their own, except for the tails which have never been full.
I keep saying I’ll have my brows microbladed someday. I know it’s not permanent, but it’d be kinda nice to go a while without having to do my brows at all. The only thing stopping me is fear—not of pain (psh, I have enough tattoos to know microblading won’t hurt), but of the microblade person giving me the wrong brow shape or completely messing one brow up. 😂
Lol @WinglessOne finally a person who thinks the way I do about microblading!! I’m convinced they will do the wrong shade since I’m always changing my hair colour and give me the wrong shape. I already have two different shape eyes grrrr one side is heavy and it became such a nuisance I’ve had to do small Botox injection just under the brow otherwise it interferes with my vision especially if I’m tired. Pushes down and causes bluriness. I have tattoos as well (many) and the needles are fine but I’m not too keen about the crazy brow redness, scabbing part of it. I don’t have enough down time because I work shifts. Mine had bald patches and they are going grey 😢. They are better but still get the odd grey/white hair.
@2manyperfumes Oh yeah, the post-tattoo (and microblading) redness and scabbing... that kinda bugs me, too. My face flushes very easily, so if I ever have my brows microbladed, my forehead’s gonna be VERY red for a while. 😄 It’ll kinda be like a bad reaction to certain skincare/makeup ingredients (for me, anyway), except the outcome will be worth the trouble. My brows are also graying: each month, I find one or two new gray hairs. Took my brows nearly 5 decades to start graying, vs. the 15 years it took my hair. 😄
Sorry to hear about your vision interference. A friend of mine has the same problem and is considering Botox as a solution, vs. cosmetic surgery to lift her extra-hooded lid. Good to hear it’s helped you!
Thanks @WinglessOne yup those darn greys on the brows lol. I go red too and get the yellow banana bruises nothing that a good concealer can’t cover. Yes the Botox is less invasive and affordable. Mine lasts usually 5-6 months. It’s starting to wear off on that lid but I push it till I can’t stand it. It also alleviates my migraines. I have considered the laser treatments for texture and fine lines but I would need a second job. I make sure to exfoliate and drink lots of water for now. I’m too scared to go under the knife to fix that lid. It’s excess skin that drooped after weight loss and the muscles weaken as we age. I was told that by treating it now will help keep those muscles strong and immobilized so that it doesn’t continue to push down which would require surgery. When I’m really tired I can feel the weakness in that muscle pushing down. My hair starting going grey in my 40s now that I’m in my 50s it’s really not too bad but I’m having fun putting in different colours. Here is a photo from last year after I lost over 50 pounds and you can see the pressure of the lid on my eye. I also had lighter hair (still coloured) but my eyebrows are naturally more reddish. I had deep red hair growing up.
@WinglessOne I love how descriptive you are!! If I had slow somber zombies coming at me I would be running regardless what I have on!!
Thanks @ather ! 🙂 Heh, I can easily outrun the slow zombies. “ 4 AM ZOMBIE ATTACK OMG I GOTTA GET OUTTA HERE—oh wait, it’s the slow ones?” *picks up brow pencil, holds up mirror* 🤣
Yep @WinglessOne . My brow liner, pencil or whatever product has basically become a part of me. I think it’s so much so that people might stop and notice if I wasn’t wearing it. If forced to leave without it, I grab a giant pair of sunglasses that I keep near the front door for brow covering purposes. That sounds a little ridiculous now that I’ve typed it out, but it’s true.
Sephora lipstick in 22 and Fenty Kilowatt Foil Palette in Scandal’ice. I really enjoy mixing my lippies with this palette. I can’t believe I ever thought it was “just a highlighter. I’m at school so I just had to do this before class I’m sure my classmates thought I was nuts
@divaknits So pretty! I love the colour of your top!!
