100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

Pat McGrath LiquiLust in Nightshade

This was the only shade left on their site when I placed my order a few days ago, and while I probably would have gone for the red first had it been an option, I really like this one nonetheless. 

I was intrigued by @WinglessOne saying she liked these even better than NARS Powermatte...since Powermatte is the only liquid matte I'll tolerate, I simply HAD to give these a shot. 😊 And there's no surprise...she's right. It's extremely comfy for a matte, and never feels dry or tight or cakey. It's almost more like a matte latex or rubber...soft and almost stretchy. It's hard to describe, but totally worth it, and I wish I had discovered these before they vanished.

I am also impressed with a dark purple that applies smoothly the first time with no patchiness or streaks or any other troubles. 💜

I do have one small issue that I've never really encountered in a lippie before. Normally if I'm going to have pigment sliding around, it winds up pooling in my lip lines. This one seems to do the opposite; the pigment gets pulled out of my middle lip line on my lower lip; you can see a bit of that here (that line is quite deep in my normal RBF state 😅). I wore this for an hour or so last night and found that a little balm will smooth it back out though. (I also played with lip gloss over it later, but that made it bleed big time, so I wound up removing it. Pretty sure that was just the gloss itself though.)

It's already pitch black here, so this is perhaps-too-bright-for-pics fluorescent lighting...it's brightening the lip pretty significantly (and washing out my eyeshadow as well). IRL this is so dark it could almost pass for black.

@RGbrown  I’m so glad Nightshade works for you! Of the 3 LiquiLUST shades I own (Nightshade, Deceit, and Revelation Red), this one’s my favorite. 🖤💜 The red shade exposes some vertical lip lines like that on me if I don’t use my lip primer beneath it. I hope Pat releases more shades of this liquid matte in the near future.

I'd like to see her come out with more as well. Of course, now that I've paid $8 for one, I'm not sure I'd ever go full price lolol ❤️

I'm definitely gonna have to play a little more. While it never felt dry or stiff, it cracked more on me. Some balm on top helped, but it started going a bit weird maybe an hour or so later. You know how some liquid lips get gummy in the corners of your mouth after a few hours, and start to ball/pill up? It never ever actually felt like that at all, but I happened to look in the mirror, and had quite a few of those tiny gummy balls around the outer edges of my lips, mostly the bottom lip, like a connect the dots drawing. I need to try different balms...I used a not-my-fave one over this today, and I suspect it may be the cause. But (assuming I get the kinks worked out lol), I'd still be interested in picking up more of these if she ever releases them!

Lipstick 245: Becca Ultimate Lipstick Love in Orchid. This shade is a true nude for me: it’s almost exactly the color of my bottom lip—just a tad cooler toned. 

Becca Orchid. I finally remembered to take a photo during decent daylight hours.

I’m looking through my hoard for a shade that matches my top lip’s natural color, and I don’t think I have anything close enough (not counting lip liners). It’s been a fun hunt, though.

Such a pretty nude, sheer but very even @WinglessOne 🥰 you have the best lipsticks and love that you have so many different shades from nude to glosses, to brights, dark.  Everything a lipstick lover could want.  👍

Aw, thanks @2manyperfumes ! Orchid’s not really sheer. 🙂 It’s quite opaque. It’s just that my top lip is naturally deeper pigmented than my bottom lip. Opaque shades of light pink and mauve often don’t fully cover all my top lip’s natural coloring.
