100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

Guerlain Rouge G in 111, worn over a full base coat of Bite pencil in 052 (which is basically Bite Amuse Bouche Kale in pencil form) because today I wanted something greener than Kale but not quite as green as 111 is alone. 

Why no, I didn’t sleep last night, thanks for asking! 😄 Hope I don’t crash this afternoon while wearing mascara.

Endearing story behind this lipstick:

One day I visited my local Nordstrom looking for this shade, having talked myself out of buying it many times before. The friendly young SA—let’s just call him J—opened the Rouge G drawer at the Guerlain counter but couldn’t find 111. He looked in another drawer. Then another. Then he went online via his phone to see if this shade was still available via the Nordy app; it wasn’t. 😞 I missed my chance to buy it! Tragedy! 

While J had the app open, he searched for other green lipsticks Nordstrom carries. There weren’t any. He recommended some brands not sold by Nordstrom on a “you didn’t hear this from me” basis. 😄 Then he apologized and rang up my other purchases, and that was that. Or was it? 

The next day, I got voicemail and a text from J. He’d gone into Nordy inventory online that morning to search for my green Guerlain, and he found a handful of them at 2 different Nordstrom locations! He offered to place an order for me and of course I didn’t turn him down. I hadn’t asked him the day before to keep looking, and he hadn’t indicated he would. I thought I’d missed out and didn’t think he’d even remember me, let alone continue the hunt for me. What kind of SA does this for a customer he just met? A Nordstrom SA, that’s who. J is a prime example of one of many reasons why I shop at Nordstrom. 💚

Great story, @WinglessOne . I had one SA that that gave me a makeover after other counters told her not to do me. I told her that although her line was very expensive, I'd buy from her because of her service.

You can't beat customer service.

@Girly2Shoes  I’m glad you found a great SA to help you! Customer service is still the number one purchase driver for many folks, and it really doesn’t take much to make a customer feel appreciated. Something as simple but hugely meaningful as ignoring other rude SAs to do for a customer what other SAs should be willing to do for ANY customer—that’s the kind of service that deserves more of our business. ❤️

Thank you @ather ❤️ This is the worst longterm bout of insomnia I’ve had since my college days. I’ve been so stressed out and overwhelmed by a string of bad events, and my body’s paying the price. But I’m trying everything within reason (for me) to break this sleepless cycle. Hoping for consistent sleep soon!

I’m sure things will get better soon!  I have had my struggles and when I would say things couldn’t get worse some how they always did. And after that I always said things will get better and after awhile they did. I really hope things get better for you! You always look like you are so put together and happy I would have never thought anything of it. I deal with insomnia when I am stressed as well and I’m sure you have heard every piece of advice out there. I use lush sleepy lotion before bed and it always helped me get a good nights sleep. Not sure if it’s a placebo effect but it worked.  Really hope things start to turn around for you!!
