Hi BIC!
A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.
@divaknits Is Spanish Fly the one with a teal shift? There are 2 MAC Frost shades I always get confused and I think they’re both brown based with a shift. I see some teal in your photo and I like it!
Most of the MAC Frosts I’ve owned or swatched have more of a color shift and slightly metallic sheen than a full blown frost effect. Most of them are still pretty, though.
Thanks @WinglessOne ! There may be a bit of a teal shift. Now that you mention it I see what you’re talking about.
😂 @divaknits you look pretty, love all the bright colors on your top.
Thanks @Weetart! My former boss gave me the top along with some other clothes. Our styles are different, but I actually like the stuff she gave me. So many unique prints.
Lipstick Queen Hot Rose Sinner. Or more accurately, this is the shade Hot Rose from the Sinner line of lipsticks. Or completely accurately, this is yet another vibrant pink shade of lipstick I don’t need more of and should stop buying so much of but can’t resist.
Feels as comfy as my other LQ bullets. Applied easily. Bled a tiny bit at the corners at first, but after a quick cleanup I had no other bleeding/feathering issues. I’m wearing 2 coats in the above photo. Here’s how it all looked 2 hours, 2 cups of coffee, and 1 bottle of water later:
I still haven’t gone through my bold pinks for a focused declutter session. But I need too. Soon. 😂
Great colour!
Hah! @WinglessOne well it sounds like this one will make it through the pink decluttering. This challenge has made me realize I have way more nudes that are slight variations of each other than I care to admit and not nearly as many in the pink and red shades I love more than nudes. It’s madness.
@Weetart Welp, guess that means you’ll have to buy more lipsticks to correct this imbalance! 😄 It’s not addiction, it’s merely an attempt to bring more balance into your life!

Wow what a pretty pink on you @WinglessOne 🥰👍 gorgeous as always love it.
"...this is yet another vibrant pink shade of lipstick I don’t need more of and should stop buying so much of but can’t resist"
That sounds exactly like my collection lololol
I swatched all of my pinks a few days ago, and was surprised not to find more dupes than I did. Granted, I didn't try very hard to match up shades...I went in no particular order, light pink swatched next to dark then next to medium, next to red-pink, next to berry, ok I guess I'll try this other light pink on the other end of my arm...nope, swear it's not similar to that other light pink way up there, ok now a bright one, hmmmm, it kinda looks like that other one over there, lemme swatch those together, oh hey, not a match after all...and so on. It was a mess lol, but a really pretty one by the time I finished.
I actually wound up tossing zero when I got done. I found two dupes of Revlon Cherries in the Snow (a Liptensity and a UD Vice), but I like all three formulas enough to keep 'em (push come to shove, UD would exit first, since Revlon has that classic nostalgia factor, and, well, come on, Liptensity...), and I found one other set of dang near perfect matches but couldn't tell you what they were anymore, though I'm pretty sure once again a Liptensity was involved.
I kinda felt like I was supposed to clear out a few by doing this, or that maybe this would make it easier to have a reason to clear a few more out...but it didn't work that way at all. I can't decide if that's good or bad. I was kinda looking forward to a little extra space to rationalize a few more purchases at some point 😛
I definitely had plenty that were close in shade, but of course as my dad says, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, so I considered all of those different enough to keep 😄
@RGbrown Your dad is a wise man. 😄
Part of your swatch comparison is why I’m nervous about seriously hitting my bolder pinks. If I find dupes—and I know I will (I’ve swatched several pinks a few times; I’ve just never done it with the intent of decluttering any)—I won’t be able to choose between certain formulas. I won’t ditch a Liptensity unless it’s gone rancid or it performs badly. But could I choose between a Liptensity and a PMG, or even a dang good CP Lux? Prooobably not. Sigh... I had so little trouble doing this with my oxbloods, I thought it’d be just as easy with pinks. I thought wrong.
If I buy more pinks (if? Ok, when 😅), I guess I'll have to go through a little more carefully and systematically to decide what goes. But until then, I think I'm just going to try to live with "the containers are full, you have plenty, and you love them all" to try to stave off any assaults on my wallet for now. I know I'm picking up a sparkly red Uoma at some point, but really, nothing else needs to be on my radar.
So are Sinners on their way out? I just noticed Ulta has way fewer than they used to. Dangit, I don't have any and want to try one. 🤦 So much for the empty radar. Maybe I can snag one cheap at SpaceNK during their big Jan clearance. Talk about planning ahead 😅
@RGbrown I honestly don’t know what’s in LQ’s permanent (or even longterm) lineup anymore, aside from maybe the transformers like Frog Prince. I can never quite tell when they’re about to end a line. And now that their own site has practically no product info, it’s even harder to tell when a line’s near the end of its run. 😞 They start and stop so many product lines.
If Space NK still has these in January, they’d be a good buy—and I’m sure cheaper than Dermstore’s current markdown!
Outstanding @WinglessOne! I might have to check into this line.
Thanks @divaknits! I think Ulta still has some of the Sinner bullets. Dermstore has Hot Rose and others. 😉 EDIT: And Dermstore still has them on sale (under $20) right now.
Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Liquid Metallic in 309 Glo-Coral. This liquid lip is much more bold and metallic and beautiful than I was able to capture in this picture. I think the metallic was reflecting too much off the light. It's a really more on the pink side of coral, like way more on the pink side. I think a lip brush might work better than their applicator.
Beautiful
I love this bright pop of color on you. I swear by lip brushes, as they make application so much easier. <333
