Hi BIC!
A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.
Origins Blooming Bold Lipstick in Lush Lotus. First Origins lipstick I’ve tried in years, and I’m glad I took a chance on it!
This formula is supposedly made of flower petals and flower wax (don’t ask me, man, ask Origins). It doesn’t feel like wax on my lips at all, thank goodness. 😄 It’s not super emollient but it is creamy and comfy. As you can see, it’s VERY pigmented, and that pigment is truly long lasting. Here it is 4 hours, 1 coffee, and 1 bottle of water later, with no touch ups:
That color never feathered or bled. It wore down incredibly evenly and didn’t disappear until I wiped it off with a wet paper towel. And by “wore down,” I really mean “it looked like I’d applied it just 2 minutes ago and lightly blotted it on a napkin.” At the 4 hour mark, I rubbed my lips together to test for gritty crumblies. This stuff was still creamy enough to easily redistribute color, had I really needed to do that. (I didn’t. :D)
Are the Blooming Bolds as good as my beloved Liptensities? Nope: Liptensities are creamier. But I’m impressed enough with this shade to try another one. Well done, Origins!
Thanks @Luvstravel !
@WinglessOne Awesome review! Great colour on you!
Thanks so much @PinkEvergreen @PrettyPaint @2manyperfumes @faeriegirl @lmaster !
I’m impressed too @WinglessOne 🥰 beautiful shade and it looks creamy. I didn’t know that Origins created a lipstick.
That's beautiful on you @WinglessOne, and that wear time is impressive!
@WinglessOne Gorgeous!!! Love the shade, love the shade on you, love the creamy shine!!! 💖
Fabulous!!!
I have to ask though, how's the scent? I had a couple of these on my loves list when they first came out at Ulta, but now that some reviews are in, they mention a rose/floral scent, so I immediately deleted them. I'm not a fan of scented makeup in general, and florals are the worst in my eyes (or, well, in my nose 😋).
@RGbrown Heh, I haven’t read any of the reviews on these yet. 😄 I intentionally ignored all reviews because I didn’t want any negative ones rekindling my former bias against Origins’ lipsticks. I wanted to test one myself first.
Can’t speak for the other shades, but Lush Lotus barely has a scent. To me, it smells very faintly of rose and maybe jasmine. I can smell it during application but not strongly, and 5 minutes later I’ve either gotten used to such a faint scent or it’s disappeared. I just swatched it on my hand and I have to get my nose right up on it—actually touch my nose to my hand—to smell any scent. Lancôme’s lipsticks are more scented than this. Hell, MAC’s Powder Kiss lipsticks are more strongly scented. 😄 It’s not YSL overkill rose scented by any stretch of the imagination.
If you were fine with the Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge scent, I doubt these Blooming Bolds will bother you. 🙂
Lancome wasn't awful, the scent dissipated pretty quickly, so dangit, back on the loves list they go. I'm building a 20%/points haul as we speak, so one may arrive at my door sooner rather than later 😋
Was kinda hoping for a talk-me-out-of-it though 😂
@RGbrown “Was kinda hoping for a talk-me-out-of-it though” —😂🤣 Sorry, I haven’t reached that part of lipstick junkie rehab yet.
I’m also compiling a 20% off list so I can use more of my Ulta points. I need to cull the number of lipsticks on it, but other Blooming Bold shades are involved.
Cull the number of lipsticks? Why???? That's all that's on my list so far 🤣
ETA: have you tried a TPSY? Looking at either the marker or an Absoliptly (ok, both lol) now that they're on sale. I've never really noticed the brand before, but sale stuff always gets my attention 😋
@RGbrown Each time I see the TPSY markers, I wonder if they behave the same way a normal felt tip marker would, complete with streaky uneven cover. That’s how I keep talking myself out of buying one. 😄 I don’t think I’ve looked into their Absoliply yet. Gonna do that tomorrow. I’m finally completely tired enough to probably go to bed early tonight. (Heh, “early” = anytime before 1 AM.) If you decide to get one (or both!), I’d love to hear your thoughts on them!
I'll probably have and get both. Sale + 20% + points = my favorite time to splurge 😋
I hope you can finally get some sleep!! 💤
