Hi BIC!
A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.
That shade looks great on you @heartsmyface!
@faeriegirl @Thanks girl! It normally pulls slightly too warm on me but the hair really helps it along:)
Perfect color any time of the year! @heartsmyface
@Buootiful @Thanks. I’m visiting the prairies and figured based on past visits that it would be better to play it safe with the lipstick colors. I’m already I haven’t seen anyone with fun coloured hair or much makeup at all in all my visits here, 😄
@lmaster hehehe, I was watching kids in the backyard yesterday and trying to make a post at the same time. That’s what I got:D
@heartsmyface too bad it doesn't last but the color looks great on you!
Still a pretty color even though it doesn’t last @heartsmyface !
Looks so nice on you, @heartsmyface . Cute little earrings, also.
@Girly2Shoes @Thank you. The earrings were a gift from my hubs before we got married. He was a sweetie and replaced a pair I lost travelling to Italy. They mean a lot to me;)
@heartsmyface Too bad it doesn’t last longer. It works so well with your hair color(s)!
@WinglessOne @I actually don’t mind reapplying as long as when my lipstick fades it either fades evenly or all at once. There’s nothing more bothersome than a lipstick that fades feathered or everywhere but the lip meridian. This one is good in that sense. All at once with no staining.
I really like it. It just needs a lot a reapplying. Not a bad thing at its price point. @Weetart
Continuing my gloss gauntlet with 2 wear tests today.
Lipstick no. 177: Julep Ultra Hydrating Lip Gloss in Boss.
Who knows how long I’ve had this, but it can’t stay in my collection. It has that molasses application feel, and I had to dip in at least 4 times to get a single coat per lip. Good thing it has a large doe foot, otherwise it would’ve taken ages to spread this stuff across my lips. Once applied, I felt like I was wearing 10 coats of Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask topped with candle wax. And the color payoff was really disappointing for such a bold-in-the-tube gloss. And it was goopy between my lips. Nopity nope. I wiped it off immediately after taking this photo. Removal was not easy: it was so heavy and sticky, I had to use a lip scrub to get all that residue (not color, just that yucky feel) off my lips.
178: Kevyn Aucoin The Molten Lip Color in Bronze.
This feels so much better! I’m still wearing it and I can feel it on my lips, but it’s not an obnoxiously heavy feel, more like midweight. It has the same level of stickiness as Fenty Gloss Bomb, which I don’t think is terrible at all. It wears off the innermost side of my bottom lip in graceful ombré fashion; that combined with this particular bronze shade makes it look lovely on me. A cup of coffee made it feather, so it needs a liner or primer barrier to prevent that. I need to compare this to my Lancôme L’Absolu Lacquer bronze before deciding whether or not to keep both.
Really beautiful shade (2 nd) @WinglessOne . Bronze and shinny suits you. Hee hee: the caption of the first photo made me laugh! I hate that feeling some gloss have (and I got to admit I stopped looking for a good one. Here we go: I've thrown the baby with the bathwater! 😝).
Thanks @MlleJuju! There are some great glosses out there, now that brands are starting to create lighter weight formulas. They don’t all feel like thick melted wax anymore. 🙂 So far, no gloss has outperformed my beloved L’Absolu Lacquers, but there are good contenders! Julep ain’t one of ‘em.
@WinglessOne Well, I'm gonna have to look for them then! 😀
