100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

Curiosity made me swatch some red bullets against NARS Rita today. I’ve been avoiding an all-reds swatch—or what I like to call The Reckoning of Reds 😂—because I’ve been in denial about how similar some of these shades are. But it’s time I decide which of these are the best performers for their finish type, and which ones I need to let go along with Rita. I realize many of these swatches will look identical to some of you. In some cases, you need to have an eye trained/able to see slight color variations, and/or a well tuned monitor/screen. To be fair, there are a couple of straight-up dupes here.

I ran out of arm space, so I couldn’t swatch more reds. I should’ve done half-length swatches instead, so I’d have room for 28 swatches. I did include a couple of orange reds for the heck of it. I... might have too many reds. 😂

I can I definitely see the variations on each one, that's so crazy how one color can literally be made into 30+ different versions @WinglessOne

@lmaster  Right? When people ask how many reds I have, well... it depends on which kind of red we’re talking about. 😄 Warm reds? Cool reds? Ruby, tomato, brick, “classic,” cherry, orange red...? And that’s without delving deep into the burgundy, vampy, blood red shades. There’s a red for everyone. 🙂

Ban one really have too many reds lol I think not 😂 I can see that the PMG has a depth and intensity that some very similar shades don’t.  9 and 12 have such depth.  2,3 and 6 are similar but 3 looks creamier and muted compared to 6.  The Reckoning of the Reds sounds like a Game of Thrones episode lol.  So which ones are you not thrilled with.  They all look good.

@2manyperfumes  I’m probably going to ditch UD Bad Blood. It’s been one of my favorite shades for a long time, but I’ve got more comfy reds. (Bad Blood doesn’t feel terrible on my lips, especially for a matte bullet, but I’ve got better replacements now.) And we already know Rita’s gone. 

As for the rest, I still need to sort that out. Gonna have to do a quick wear marathon one night to decide which of the most similar-looking reds feel the best. And I have other non-liquid reds to consider. 

This process is harder with reds than it was with my purples and oxbloods. I need to do this with all my berries... that might be even harder. Sigh.

That’s going to be hard lol.  I feel that way with my Hourglass liquid lip.  It has no colour and a grey undertone even though it’s orange yuck.  I had high hopes but was disappointed

Sorry to hear about Rita @WinglessOne Firecracker looks great though and I can see why it's a repeat.  You've worn what, like 170 lipsticks for this challenge?  You're allowed a repeat.

Firecracker looks to be a great dupe. I can’t deal with drying lipsticks either. It’s just not worth it! @WinglessOne

Thanks @katkapivarci ! I own 7 Audacious bullets, excluding Rita, and they’re all creamy comfy. A couple are almost too creamy for their own good (looking at you, Madura). 😄 I’m honestly surprised that Rita’s so problematic. Oh well.

So rushed today with dentist appointment for my daughter then rush to work then rush home and make dinner lol just to get up and do it all over again tomorrow.  Haaa I think I dropped more mini lashes than I glued on haaaa.  Love the minis (no knots). So much easier if I wasn’t rushed.  Today I tried on the new shade I bought on the weekend by Too Faced called Too Too Hot.  A metallic berry colour but not red like the case so that was disappointing.  I’m going to end up buying either Poinsetta by Jeffree Star or Armageddon by Black Moon.  So far I haven’t come across any as intense red and metallic like either of these.  The lipstick wore really long and well all day.  Very pigmented and silky.  Does transfer but it lasts.  Pretty shade but not the red I hoped for.  

Doesn’t this look red ?High score for good formula though
