Hi BIC!
A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.
Ahhh Ontario you’re definitely frosty up there, would love to see pics of your doggies awwww. I’m mentally on vacation but have an all day workshop tomorrow I have to get through! Bite is def. not joining me on vacation, ha. @2manyperfumes
Yup Canadians know dry frozen skin lol 😂
By request! Lancôme L’Absolu Lacquer in Rose Rouge. Also took this opportunity to play with my new ColourPop yellow eyeliner, which throws a quirk into the PMG Eye Ecstasy smoky eye I had goin’ on. 😄 I like quirky.
I’ll also share a photo taken with the higher res back camera of my phone, for the heck of it. I took both photos to show someone else how much difference lighting can make—even something as simple as the overheads in different rooms of your home, when they’re not the exact same type of bulbs. See how yellow-red that lipstick looks in my bathroom lighting? Kitchen lighting is much more accurate.
@WinglessOne All you ladies on this thread have sold me on trying one of these! Now which color.....
@lnum I hope you love whichever color you pick! 🙂 Lancôme’s put lots of pinks, corals, and reds—pretty much all the rosy colors—into this gloss line, so there are plenty of those to choose from. 🌹🌷
@WinglessOne My problem is limiting myself to just one! They all look so pretty, but I think I might go with a classic red. Any recommendations? Be brilliant seemed like a classic red based on swatches.
@lnum Yep, Be Brilliant is a classic red. Brave Lips is a warmer toned red. Be Happy is red orange. Be Brilliant is a good first choice!
One of my favorite shades (aside from those 3 reds) is Energy Shot, a coral pink. I’m not normally a fan of corals on me, but I love that one.
Woohoo! Of course this looks gorgeous on you!!!! ❤️ @WinglessOne Ugh, Colourpop but those colors!!! It looks great on you and this look gave me the urge to copy it and wear a spring dress! But I cant do Colourpop eye makeup and I need to shave my legs, lol. This is an outstanding combo! 🙂
Thanks @Buootiful ! Have you had bad reactions to ColourPop eyeshadows (palettes and/or Super Shock singles) and eyeliners, or just the mascara? I remember hearing you had a bad reaction to one of the colored mascaras. 😞 I wanted to try their blue mascara, but I worried it’d kill my eyeballs like 95% of all mascaras on the market. I hope you’re feeling better now!
Yellow eyeliners—good ones, anyway—are hard to find. This CP liner didn’t hurt my eyes or make my skin itch. I love the pigmentation of the Glossier Play yellow liner but the texture’s so dry, it’s very hard to work with. I’m still surprised MUFE doesn’t have a yellow Artist Color Pencil. Now I’m on a mission to find you a yellow liner so you can copy my look, with or without a spring dress! 🙂
I have Yes, Please and Chasing Rainbows palettes with no issues except for dryness in my eyes during the day. Havent used them since the reaction.
I have had NYX blue mascara and didnt have any issues when I used it but it didnt have cyclopentasiloxane top of the ingredient list either. 😞 Man, too bad MUFE doesnt. I was going to get the yellow CP but it was sold out and thats why I got the red. @WinglessOne
Thanks @Weetart ! I love eyeshadow, but most days I let eyeliner do the heavy color lifting. 🙂
@WinglessOne I love that color on your skin tone! It's so beautiful and I love the glossy finish. <333
Thanks @PenelopeBT ! My favorite thing about the L’Absolu Lacquers, aside from the non-sticky feel, is how incredibly glossy they are. 🙂
You look stunning today @WinglessOne - love that yellow liner from colorpop 👍 love the whole look and that lip colour on you is ❤️. Lighting is everything and you start noticing it after awhile. There are settings to get that brightness so you can see true colours and it removes shadows. You are looking fresh and pretty today.
Thanks so much, @2manyperfumes ! The ColourPop eyeliner is definitely better than the Glossier Play yellow liner. It’s creamy, soft, and much easier to work with. 2 thumbs up!
I pull some of my selfies into Photoshop for color/temperature correction, but only so my photos show colors as accurately as possible—or as accurately as I’m willing to get them that day, because some days I just don’t wanna fuss with much correcting. 😄 I like to appear in photos the same way I’d appear if you stood right in front of me. So I don’t use any “beautification” settings or filters, or intentionally amp up the brightness (which alters my skin tones too much anyway). In fact, I often lower the black point on my kitchen selfies because those overheads are bright enough to cause some washout.
All my bathroom-lit selfies pull too warm, and/or sometimes have a green tint, and it drives me nuts. I keep saying I need to find other LEDs and perhaps rig a filter over the vanity lights. My countertop beauty mirror gets a lot more use than the big vanity mirror. 😄
I was always screwing up photos and my daughters would get mad at me because I ruined pics of them or me and them and they sat me down and gave me some lessons re taking good pics. Lol I guess I’ve improved and it’s only taken me years. I play around with settings and filters but try not to go too crazy. I have an old phone so it doesn’t take good photos unless I adjust settings to face, scenery, hi def, scenery etc. Very hard to find a good yellow liner that is bright. I’ve heard good things about Colorpop and Linda Halberg’s mood pencils.
Either way it looks fantastic on you @WinglessOne
