100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

Definitely not feeling the too faced peach puff diffused matte lip color in velvet rope.   It’s not that it isn’t any of those things.  It’s exactly that it is all of those things.   I can see wanting to wear them under other lipsticks as an insurance policy but I can’t help but feel like this just looks like I need to reapply. Maybe the four I bought will grow on me.

@heartsmyface  It takes a while to get used to those soft diffused finishes. (I’m going through the same thing with a different diffused finish lipstick.) I do like this one on you, though, as a lip stain look. 

I played with a couple of the Peach Puffs in store. I didn’t buy one mostly because I knew the applicator would frustrate me. But now I wonder how they sit under gloss. I bet a clear or pink/peach tinted gloss would make Velvet Rope pop. 🙂

@WinglessOne These work best if you apply them haphazardly with the applicator and then pat the edges with your finger.  

Which lippy are you working with?  I swear I have or tried and decluttered (I have to check) something similar to these by NYX.  Ha, I normally like clean crisp edges and moisture so I don’t know what I was thinking when I bought these🤣

@heartsmyface  Mine is a ColourPop Blur Lux, which is the soft fuzzy diffused finish version of CP’s Lux bullets. I also have 2 ColourPop Ultra Blotted Lip shades; those are liquid mattes that have the same finish as the Peach Puffs. I’m not sold on the Ultra Blotted Lips, but I’m trying to warm up to the Blur Lux. I like it better partly because it’s not as faintly pigmented as the liquid mattes. But it’s still diffused with very soft edges and it confuses me. 😂 

Good to know about the application. In the store, I wondered “how would I apply this without a lip brush (I don’t like lip brushes), and also without a complete toddler popsicle mouth effect?” See, I keep forgetting these diffused finishes aren’t meant to create a crisp lip line. They confuse me!

Haha, if I’m gonna walk around with toddler popsicle mouth it had better be cause I just enjoyed a popsicle!  

I wonder if we’re supoosed to be bringing the color all the way out to the edges of our lips...like are they meant to create rosebud lips? (A Korean trend). @WinglessOne

I think this looks good on you @heartsmyface .  It's kind of a "I just threw this on" look? "Dashing mom on the go"? "I'm not spending every minute trying to look this good, I just do"? It goes great with a more natural look!

@missjeanie I think where my frustration lies with them is that I can’t do anything with them but a diffused look, but with conventional bullet lipsticks I can make them opague or softer if I wish.  I bet they’ll be more welcomed in the summer.  They do stain well.

I could see how that’s the case @heartsmyface . I always find the staining effect nice since I’m horrible at remembering to reapply in a timely or precise manner, but I’m thinking these will be a pass until I hear some better reviews. Thanks for the honesty!

I think it looks really nice on you - never heard of this one.  I have an Hourglass one similar and I don’t get it.  Diffused mattes??

@2manyperfumes  Yeah, they’re new.  I think they dropped maybe last week or the week before?  They have the classic peachy scent which is nice.   I need to give them some more time.

My first of several packages arrived yesterday and I played with them this morning.  First Jeffree Star liquid lips I’ve ever bought and 🥳🤩🙀😻 they are unbelievably gorgeous and soooo good.  Dang it! Jeffree why .... now I’ll want more and his palettes (I need help). Lol.  I did use the last custom Bite Beauty lipstick in a deep merlot shade but it was smudging on my upper lip and I had used primer and a lipliner.  I still like it though but I put on my gold sweatshirt and i wanted to try on the new liquid lips.  I ordered 4 shades from JS and 2 shades from Sugarpill.  I’m waiting for Dose of Color and Melt and I think Notoriously Morbid, Menagerie okay I went on a mini haul after redoing my makeup space in my bedroom and bought some cool boho clothing for spring summer.  I’ve been busy 🤭 the first look is the Bite Beauty lippie in a merlot berry tone.  Then I just fell head over heals in love with Karma by Jeffree Star and I put a bit of gloss over top.  Excellent formula feels like soft whipped butter and isn’t patchydries be.It slides a lot grrrrI just love this shade (it’s olive green with gold flecks)Bottom is Karma without gloss

@2manyperfumes ahh so good! I feel like I don’t hear a lot about the JS products because as a person he’s polarizing, but the highlighters have always caught me eye 😍😍 aaaaand now the lips too. Happy to hear they’re not super drying! We finally have morphe stand alone stores in Canada, so I’ll be able to swatch and check out the line! I was always put off by the idea of paying in USD and having it shipped over the border 🤦🏽‍♀️

Thanks @cianni I love the colour range of liquid lips and I use balm or gloss daily just to keep my lips from drying up.  Even if I’m not wearing anything on my lips I use balm or my lips will sting.  A YouTube buddy said she really liked his collections and makeup.  She wore Karma shade and I asked her about it.  I went online to Beautylish which prices everything in a Canadian dollars and they deliver so quickly it’s crazy.  I’m in the middle of cottage country and it arrived in a few days.  They carry many brands.  I’m looking forward to the Morphe shops ❤️ Lately I’ve been on an indie kick for the unusual.

Thank you @JaneanBT  it took me months to decide which ones to buy.  So hard online because you can’t swatch and taking a chance on the shade being far from the pic.  Thanks re the gold velvet sweater (over 70% off sale at Forever 21 last season so I bought a pink velvet hoodie too).
