Hi BIC!
A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.
Welcome to the challenge @scott1201 I started without enough lipsticks to get through and some BIC members were kind enough to share samples with me to give me more options. There's a lot of love on this thread and I think you'll enjoy it. I really like the velvet lip glides as well.
Thank you for the warm welcome, @sprocketta 🙂 For me I love mindfully buying lippes that i would 100% wear, but for whatever reason i typically skip the lip step while getting ready. I think it may be because i'm still drinking coffee while doing hair/makeup and i always forget to take a lippie with me. I'm hoping this thread reminds me to push myself and use my stuff!
Hey girl hey! @scott1201 welcome to the challenge 💕💕 You shoukd wear colors like this more often - looks so good on you! This thread willl definitely get you out of your zone 😂 I went from 50 shades of mauve nude to fuschia metallic at work in no time LOL
Thank you for the encouragement, @cianni! Hah 🙂 I can't wait to push myself a bit! I don't have 100 lip colors but i FOR SURE have some that i just admire and never wear 😉
Yesterday's lipstick - and the first time in about a week that I had put any kind of anything makeup on my face. Thanks to all who had commented a week ago about the boyfriend's surgery - everything was a-ok and honky-dory. He had his gallbladder removed - funnily enough (bit not really funny, as a medical procedure rarely is - lol) I had had the same exact surgery done just after this past Thanksgiving.
BUT ANYWAY...yesterday's lipstick was Fenty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick in the shade 'Freckle Fiesta'. I'm...not to sure about this one. Color is great a pigmented, had good staying power, wasn't to dry...but it felt heavy to me and, even being busy at work all day I was almost constantly aware that I had it on.
So...I don't know. I'm on a fence on this one. I'll have to wear it a time or two more to really make a solid decision on it...
I think it’s a keeper. Looks great. Glad all is well after the surgery. @adnamac
@adnamac glad to hear it all went well!! I love this color on you. The Fenty Mattemoiselles do have great pigment and staying power! I don’t recall it feeling heavy last time I wore one, but I always layer with a bit of balm underneath now (dab off the excess), which is a trick I picked up on this thread, to make formulas more comfortable. If it still doesn’t work but you like the color, I think Smashbox Always On Matte - Out Loud is a pretty good dupe for the color, and that’s a really nice formula too
Continuing my Liptensity roll: MAC Liptensity in Stallion. In another thread, I recently called this my second favorite black bullet (and my third favorite black lipstick in my collection). But I don’t wear it nearly as often as I should. So whenever I do wear it, I think “oh yeah, this is definitely a much better performer than [UD Perversion, MAC In The Spirit, etc.]”—as if it’s the first time I’ve ever said that. 😂 Like I need reconfirmation every time I wear Stallion. Weird.
Thanks @lmaster! 🙂
I love this lipstick on you! I’ll hve to look for Stallion to add to my collection. I must shove it in my train case. There’s not a lot of room left. 🤣
Thanks @divaknits! You’re in luck: I think Stallion is a permanent color in the Liptensity line. (I’ve had my bullet for a long time.) So you should be able to find it. Hooray! To make this shade work best, don’t wear lip balm under it. Or if you use balm, let it sit for a couple minutes and then dab off any excess, especially along the inside of your bottom lip. Stallion doesn’t play nice with emollient balms.
Sadly, Blue Beat (one of my favorite blues) wasn’t a permanent Liptensity shade and MAC no longer sells it. This is why lipstick junkies hoard backups 😂 and that’s a habit I’m trying very hard to break this year.
Thanks @Anonymous!
@WinglessOne I can see why this is in your top 3! That shine is incredible. Unrelated but your lashes look SO good!
Thanks @cianni! ☺️ This was my 4th time wearing this mascara: Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Volume 2 Mascara Black Vinyl Vol 2. It was part of a birthday/Christmas gift from a friend: she gave me this plus 3 other mascaras to try. This one’s the winner of the bunch, hands down. In fact, it’s quickly become my new favorite mascara—and that’s saying a lot because I looooove PERRICONE MD - No Mascara Mascara and never thought I’d find a better performer. But man, this CT mascara kicks butt. It doesn’t smudge, clump, or flake, and it doesn’t irritate my eyes at all. It doesn’t leave my lashes feeling as soft as the PMD mascara does, but it also doesn’t make them feel hard and crusty like most other mascaras do. The brush is big, but it gets EVERY lash. The only thing that would make this mascara better for me would be a gooseneck wand. Otherwise, this stuff’s perfect for me. I swear my lashes have never looked better than they do when I wear this. 😄 I mean, it even curls them a bit! I’m beyond impressed.
Okay, I’ll stop gushing about this mascara now. 😂 It’s just so rare that I find one this good that doesn’t hurt my eyes at all.
LOL @WinglessOne no no I appreciate all the in-depth analysis! Haha. I’ve been using BTS forever, with the occasional benefit, tarte and now Milk because I’m trying to go through my minis. I think by doing that, I’ve realized that there is something in the BTS that occasionally irritates my eyes. Sometimes they burn and just don’t stop watering, and I couldn’t figure out the culprit, as I had been wearing the same forever and the problem was only occasional. I think if I rub my eyes while wearing the BTS, I get that reaction, but if it’s on my lashes and not actually IN my eyes it’s fine. All this to say... currently taking applications for new mascaras LOL. @lmaster has also been giving me MAJOR inspiration, so I look forward to trying all these new (and clearly effective) mascaras! 😂
@cianni Oh man, BTS kills my eyeballs. Even if it doesn’t flake into my eyes, something about it makes my eyes burn if I wear it longer than an hour. Sometimes the reaction happens within the first 30 minutes of wear. 😞 It’s a bummer because BTS really does give me a falsies look. But I cannot handle that stuff. The Milk Kush mascara also makes my eyes burn, plus it flakes a lot on me. So does Estée Lauder Double Wear mascara—and I get an immediate bad reaction to that one. Hourglass Caution doesn’t burn, but it does flake a bit, and I lost the tips of a few lashes while removing it 😡—they broke right off. (Glad I had the mini instead of the full size!)
Other mascaras I can wear with no irritation that actually enhance my lashes (though they’re not as good as this CT one): NARS Climax Mascara Explicit Black, LANCôME - GRANDIÔSE - Wide-Angle Fan Effect Mascara (I still like this one a lot for volume, and I love the gooseneck wand), and tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes™ 4-in-1 Mascara Black which is nice but flakes more than I expected. A few others don’t hurt my eyes but also do next to nothing for my lashes, including GUERLAIN Maxilash Volumizing and Curling Mascara 01 Noir which doesn’t work as well as Lancôme Grandiose, plus it’s scented which is kinda dumb. I mean, who wants scented lashes? And I can smell it when I wear it. Ugh. Anyway, I hope you find a new pain-free mascara that works wonders for you!
