100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

Oh, and Iced out will look awesome on you @divaknits. I have to use that one again without using Halloween as an excuse to wear it.

I’ve stopped using Halloween as an excuse for any of my makeup choices @Buootiful. The louder the better. I threw out some that I knew didn’t look good on me, but i’m back in all my wild and weirdness.

Well, my 2019 didn't start quite the right way and began with a series of bad makeup days. So here is the parade of the worst duds from my lipstick collection.

Day 85

Bare Minerals liquid lippie in Swag from the reward set. A way too light and cool-toned pink for my face, plus it can't boast the staying power of a good liquid formula. 

Day 86

 NARS Audacious in Vera. Not a bad colour in itself, but the picture leaves much to be desired. Also, staying power is not the best.  

Day 87

 NARS Audacious in Olivia. I wouldn't call it a dud for colour, actually I quite like the shade and it's rather emollient. However, this thing feathers like crazy and moves around everywhere, giving you the "undone" lip even if you hate the trend (like I do). I am glad I bought it at a discount and not full price. 

Day 88

 This is the only thing out of my last week's trials that I really like. NARS lip crayon in Walkyrie. The colour is the right mix between nude and bold and the application is easy. Cannot survive lunch,  but without food it can hold its own.

Day 89

 Bite Beauty crayon in Cava. This is probably the worst lip colour I wore in my life. My face looks like I died of exposure three days ago. I am actually thankful it's lasting power is very poor. Hope my bad makeup days are over 🙂

Most of these look lovely on you and I love every day of your eye makeup. True, the last one is horrible, lol. Maybe save it for Halloween makeup? The 1st pink looks great with the dark eye makeup. Too bad the best color in Olivia feathers too much. It looks fantastic on you ! @Krysa13

@Krysa13 if these are your worst duds then you have an impressive collection!! I liked all the Nars ones! I also feel you with the cool-toned pinky colors. They always pull SO grey on me... somehow it pulls all the color out of the rest of my face with it 😒

Day 4 is brought to you the people at Drunk Elephant. Their Lippe Balm keeps my lips moisturized whether or not i’m wearing lipstick. I liked it so much that I bought my daughter one and I had vowed I would never buy her anything from Sephora, especially since she doesn’t love makeup like I do. She’ll have to buy her own. I can’t even keep up with my own habit.

Smashbox Be Legendary Long Wear Lip Laquer (whew, that's a mouthful 😂) in Ultra Violet

This is another ancient piece in my collection, and I think they've been long discontinued...I got it at Nordstrom Rack for $1 way early in my makeup collecting days (so 2-2.5 years ago?)...to make it all the way down to a buck at the Rack, it had to be ancient when I bought it 😯

In any case, I dunno about the "long wear" part of the name...I do recall it lasting longer than the typical gloss, but it's no Lancome Lacquer either. I also really like this as a topper for darker pinks and purples...it gives just a touch of light and bright that I appreciate (when I actually remember to use it that way, that is). All in all, it's a keeper, though I'm not sure how much longer it has left before going bad. I've got a MAC lip glass in a similar shade that I may keep as a backup just in case.

@RGbrown I’m always so torn about discontinued items. The panner in me wants to finish and forget before it goes bad, but the hoarder in me takes issue with the fact that once it’s gone I’ll never be able to get it again 😂 the struggle
