100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

@jozkid it was actually part of the mystery free gwp from ulta! I feel like estee lauder is underrated but their quality is really nice

I don’t think it’s underrated @kim88, but I think it tends to have an older clientele. Younger women seem to feel like it’s your grandmother’s makeup, but with colors like that, clearly it’s not!  😁

NARS Velvet Matte lip crayon in Wild Ways. The colour is not exactly what I supposed when I bought the set (NARS x Man Ray). I expected it to be bright copper, but it was a way more muted natural colour and I think I can actually put it to good use.

Another PMG beauty, inspired by @jozkid , it's a touch darker IRL and a bit more of true blue red (no pink at all!), and one of my favorite reds. The MatteTrance formula really stays put on my lips (made it through a workout!), this was swiped on straight from the mini bullet with a little Bite Beauty Lip Primer underneath. PAT McGRATH LABS Mini MatteTrance™ Lipstick Trio Colour Blitz , Elson is a keeper 🙂

@jozkid Not defective, just pinker 🙂 I had a thought last night as I was reapplying 35mm with a lip brush. With just the brush, even with several layers, the color wasn't quite saturated, giving me a berry/magenta stain. But then I went over with a swipe of the bullet and the color deepened dramatically. I know you're a fan of lip brushes, but I bet a quick layer direct from bullet would give you that depth and opaqueness. 

But I sort of love the pink tint on you!

I know what you mean @MissPuff. I did apply the first coat with my lip brush, but the second I applied directly from the bullet to try and get a deeper red. It really must just be my natural lip color (or lack thereof)

Here’s one I haven’t worn in quite some time. Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope in Brat Pack.

Overhead kitchen tracklights aren’t the best portrait lighting.

It has a velvety matte finish that doesn’t feel dry (it’s quite comfy, as most LQ bullets are; not as balm-emollient as Frog Prince, but definitely comfy), good pigmentation, and very minimal feathering. It smudges at the corners when I drink from a cup. That might be the reason I’ve never worn it often, though it doesn’t smudge anywhere else. Hmm. It contains peppermint oil, so it smells minty (but not while I wear it) and has a slight mint tingle on the lips.

These were originally $50 a tube, but I think you can get them direct from LQ for around $35, which is honestly a fairer price. I like it, but I don’t think it’s worth $50.
