Hi BIC!
A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.
@txcatx You are lucky indeed to grab the original Skin Show trio. It never seems to be in stock anywhere. That’s another of the trios I considered buying as a gift (I already have Flesh 3, and the other 2 shades are too pale for me).
More enabling—err, justification 🙂 - minis are perfect for travel! One of my annual trips is to the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. Anyone who’s ever visited Disney World with a purse or bag knows the importance of bag size: unless you’re lugging extra water bottles, snacks, and windbreakers/fleeces (or carrying a just-in-case knee or ankle brace, like I sometimes do), you wanna carry the smallest bag possible that’ll hold all the essentials you need. And when essentials include a small tube of sunscreen, sunglasses, tissues, etc., space is at a premium. That’s one reason why I have mini-sized backups of some of my favorite MAC shades, and a mini Lipstick Queen Frog Prince. And if the PMG Vicious Venoms trio’s ever back in stock, I’ll probably buy one for myself.
So lucky @txcatx!! The nude set was momentarily in stock and I was going to grab it but couldn’t bite the (lipstick) bullet. And when I decided, hey you can never have too many neutrals! They were gone 🤦🏽♀️
Ugh you have to be so fast, @cianni! I was on the email list but only received a notification once. I kept checking on them whenever I bought of it, @Luvstravelsuggested I add it to my loves list. I finally got it earlier this week and it should arrive today! When you see it in stock, don’t bother with samples or promos-I would barely have it in my cart or even get all the way to checkout and 👻 they were OOS. Good luck, if I catch them in stock I will notify you😊
@eshoe Good tip! And thank you so much!! Which color did you grab?
I ended up getting both sets @cianni, the new one was in stock and I thought well, it’ll have to do😆. Then the Skin showed up early in the morning and I couldn’t checkout fast enough lol!
@cianni Hope you're able to grab a set soon, too, if you're still wanting it!
Yeah! I’ve been wanting to try out the formula, and also find my go-to red. For some reason I have a million berry colors, nudes, mauve, terracotta-type shades, and literally only one red. And it’s the SEPHORA COLLECTION Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick 70 First Datein 01 Always Red. For the price it surprised me with how long it wears, and with a bit of balm underneath it’s not overly drying given that it’s a matte liquid lipstick. But it’s just TOO red to wear on a regular basis, so I never really got into wearing red as an everyday color
@cianni Have you tried a darker red? Among the Sephora Cream Lip Stains, maybe something like Red Velvet, or something even deeper like Red Desert?
Normally I’d suggest visiting the MAC counter of a dept store (or a standalone MAC store, if you’ve got a local one) and trying a few red bullets, because MAC has a fairly wide selection of shades per color family. It’s an easy way to at least narrow down what kind(s) of red you like. But for PMG MatteTrance, Elson is a nice blue-based red that looks good on pretty much everyone. There’s a darker red MatteTrance I always forget the name of (I don’t have that one yet)... looking it up... Vendetta. If you wanna go deeper red, into oxblood/burgundy/vampy territory, there’s PMG McMenamy.
Or, you could take a $7 chance on a ColourPop Lux bullet. I’ve been very impressed by the Lux creams so far: these are an absolute steal at this price point. I have (and love) the shade On Display, which is a bold red. I see they’ve restocked the softer brick red Liquid Courage. I kinda hate ColourPop’s liquid mattes and I’m not fond of their liquid satins, but their new Lux cream bullets are fantastic. 🙂
Oh wow ok thank you @WinglessOne for all the info!! I’ll brave the rouge sale lineups and see if I can swatch some of the SC ones to see. Red Velvet does look veeeery pretty online though! I’m lucky that I have a MAC standalone relatively close. I’ve never actually tried ColourPop... i have to have a order sizeable enough to justify shipping to Canada. Thank you for the suggestions, I have no doubt I’ll find one (maybe two...three.. eight) reds that I like!
My first day of the challenge! I didn’t even know where to start so I kinda just closed my eyes and rummaged for something in my lip drawer. This is th NUDESTIX Magnetic Matte Lip Color Bohoin Greystone. It’s more of a grey-brown. It was so crumbly (and a touch uncomfortable) that I dabbed a bit of my Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer Fenty Glowin Fenty Glow on top. It’s an okay combo together, but not loving the texture of the nudestix. I’m approaching the end of my Fenty gloss and I’ll definitely repurchase, and potentially pick up the new diamond milk one too!
@cianni The Universal Gloss Bomb works wonders for some not-so-great lipsticks. It certainly helped Greystone for you: the combo looks great!
But I know what you mean about still feeling a crumbly texture beneath a gloss. You’re the 10th or 11th person I’ve heard complain about Nudestix textures—and I appreciate the complaints because you’re all helping me make informed decisions. 🙂 I haven’t bought any Nudestix shades yet. Not sure I ever will at this point.
@WinglessOne Thanks! I initially got into nudestix because I liked the concept of the eye/lip/cheek crayons for travel, and one of the shades was a decent dupe for a Buxom product I really liked that had been discontinued. But ahhh the crumbling!! I can’t imagine how it would look or feel for someone who has lips that are slightly on the drier side (aka me in January)🥶
welcome to the challenge @cianni and kudos for making the greystone color work on you haha it looks very fall-y
Ooooh @cianni I really like that combo. Happy accidents! 😄
I have to agree, @Kim888-the hourglass At Night is stunning on you!
Hourglass at night is soooo stunning!
