100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

Your swatch comment reminded me of this photo I took a while back for a friend who wanted a dupe of a Lime Crime liquid matte. For London Calling to read light lilac, you’d need a deep skin tone—deeper than mine, apparently, and even then it’s not a very light shade. It’s one of my favorites.

Yup, even Wild Night swatched ok and when I put it on my lips, it was waay to dark. I had to return i.t 😞  Wild Night looks so tame when swatched on the skin, lol @WinglessOne Wish they had more accurate swatches online too. Its funny how paint it black looks like a dark brown on the fair skin swatch  🙂

@Buootiful Right? I laughed at the Paint It Black swatches: “Um excuse me, I have that one and the word ‘black’ is in the name for a reason!” 😂 It has a purple tinge so it’s not a true jet black, but it’s a far cry from that dark brown swatch. 

I think you could easily pull off Wild Night. 🙂 But I understand very dark shades being outside your comfort zone. I’m the same way with very light pastel shades. London Calling is a very nice dark shade on you.

Sunday - Shiseido VisionAiry Gel - Shizuka Red 223 - I think I wore this early on in the challenge, but I didn't take a picture...so maybe it still counts? Browner and more muted IRL, my favorite color from the new line.

Monday - Shiseido ModernMatte - Semi-Nude 508 - Also more terracotta in IRL, giving me a slightly browner NARS Dolce Vita vibe, very comfy formula, wears a touch drier than the VisionAiry Gel. Satin to matte finish.

These are beautiful on you @MissPuff!  I've really been liking the VisionAiry Gel lippies. They glide on so smoothly and are so rich and pigmented. 🙂

@Kim888 The new formulas that just came out are definitely worth a look and a swatch! Sephora carries all the ModernMatte shades and roughly half the VisionAiry Gel shades. There's also Lacquers, but I'm too in love with Lancome L'Absolu Lacquers right now to try any more out.

@MissPuff Pretty! I've been curious about that gel formula--what are your thoughts? I saw a mostly empty, but brand new Shiseido counter at Nordstrom a couple weeks ago and may now have to go back and see what they have.

@txcatx The VisionAiry Gel formula is quite unique to me, I don't think I have anything like it in my collection! Goes on very smooth and slick, almost like a balm, but is quite pigmented with almost immediate full coverage in one swipe. It actually dries down after a minute or so and on me, doesn't transfer after the first sip of coffee and has a slight tackiness (not sticky, but not powder/matte for sure) and a satin/flat finish over time. Moderately hydrating, wears away evenly (no pilling), lasts most of my day as long as I'm not eating. It doesn't make it through a messy meal, but none of my lipsticks really do (apparently, I eat greasy foods 😏). The only con is that it's TINY. Not a lot of product for the price tag, but it's okay since I'm in L.O.V.E 🙂

Thanks a lot, @MissPuff! Sephora stores in my city don't seem to carry Shiseido makeup, but Nordstrom does. And all Shiseido was 15% off today, so headed to the mall and got myself two lipsticks--one on the gel formula and one matte one that Pony the YouTube makeup artist sold me that's been in my cart for a week or two!

@txcatx I looooove Pony! Most of the time I feel too american to pull off her looks, but darn if I haven't spent a whole day researching colored circle lenses...Her skin makes me weep in its perfection 🙂 Which colors did you get!?

@MissPuff Pony is the best. She and Tina Yong are the only beauty people I follow on YouTube. But then again, as a make up  artist for K-pop stars, Pony is on a whole other level than your typical influencer!

Anyway, I got the matte in Disrobed because of Pony. Then I got the gel in Vortex, but Nordstrom had a limited number of shades available, and now I have to place a Sephora order...
