100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

I have the makings of a hoarder, I totally understand. But sometimes when I get of something I feel kind of free... the struggle is real. 

I think it's a nice color on you though. I also wanted to say that your photos always perfectly frame your face, it's impressive.

@Anonymous I am kidding about the hoarding ( well maybe I might hoard a little 😁). But I do toss things. I just recently did some decluttering and reorganizing and it does feel so good to take stock and use things again!

And thank you about the pictures. I confess I take several before I’m willing to post. I’m really not terribly photogenic and it takes some effort to find a good shot. For real. 😉

After yesterday’s meh and the fact I struggled to get out off bed this morning (does Tuesday seem harder than Monday to anyone else?) I needed something I know I love and I know will brighten up my face and my mood. This is Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer in Cherry Pop. I can’t help it. Bright blue based reds are my jam.

@alexasteph This looks great on you!  That exact formula and color is my holy grail lipstick.  I adore it.  I agree Clinique is underrated.  I swatched a few of the new lipsticks and they were great as well.

Day 40: Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in Rose

This feels a little more orange/brown than rose on me, but whatever. You can maybe see from the photo but this does show lip lines pretty intensely. It felt ok to wear though, not too dry, but I also only had it on for 4-5 hours.

I can't believe I made it to day 40! There was a small part of me that thought I would give up or get really sidetracked, but aside from skipping a few days here and there, I've been pretty consistent. I am finding that I look forward to picking a lipstick on the days I wear makeup. It's fun to look at my collection each day and be deliberate about which one I'm going to wear since I won't "be able" to wear it again for a couple months. I am less likely to want to put on lipstick if I'm not going out because I don't want to "waste" the choice.

Anyway, I went through my (open) collection and have decided that I'm going to use up my one-off brands to make it to day 50. My problem though is that I only have 9. So what am I going to do on day 50? I'm toying with the idea of picking up a fancy lipstick (of a brand I don't have) that I have liked seeing on others during this challenge (cough, Pat McGrath), but that seems to sort of defeat the point of trying to use my stash. I thought I could maybe celebrate by using my absolute favorite color, but I don't think I can narrow it down. I'll have to see if any other fun ideas come to me over the next 9 days. Regardless, I'm so happy to be almost half way there and that you all have joined along for the ride. Thanks for making this even more fun that I expected!

Congrats on being halfway though that was a couple days ago now! I agree with the others about you deserving a new lippie. A reward for your dedication to the cause 😉 and for showing people like myself it is possible to progress in this challenge (I'm a bit behind lol).

Joining the PMG chorus... 🙂 

I understand wanting to stick to using your stash instead of adding to it, @snoflakefaerie. I was originally going to do the same thing, but Lancôme and PMG did me in. Some of my new lipsticks have outperformed and replaced several others of similar shades and finishes, so they’re actually helping me declutter. That’s my rationale, anyway. So I say treat yourself on day # 50! 

And I’m very glad I found this thread when I did. I may have started 28 days late, but it was right on time for my lipstick purge. It’s been very helpful and, more importantly, lots of fun. Thanks for starting this!

I can't believe it's already halfway thru the challenge for you. Time goes by fast. Thanks for setting up this challenge, it is fun and I highly suggest to get  a Pat Mcgrath lipstick. You deserve it for this Mid-mark Milestone!!! 🙂 ❤️

@snoflakefaerie  I don't see your lip lines at all in that photo, but to be fair it's not close.  That's one of the things I dislike about mattes.  It's a nice color on you.

I'm thrilled you started this challenge and I'm sure others are as well.  Sharing it with others also creates accountability with others.  Glad to hear you're enjoying it.  Looking forward to seeing more of your picks.

ETA: You totally deserve a PMG lippie.  They're worth it and the colors are divine.
