100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

Day 35 maybe? Sephora Melting Lip Clicks in Creme Brulee. Didn't think I'd like this because the color in the tube is brown, but it's a pretty nice. Doesn't have the same sickly smell as the Cotton Candy shade.

Weird that different shades would have such different smells, but it's good to hear this one isn't horrible. I find it hard to get the right brown for my skintone, but I do like them in general on people. I'm glad it isn't too brown for you @sprocketta.

@snoflakefaerie  Yeah, the smell difference is odd.  But I really like this one.  I just can't picture myself buying a brown lipstick intentionally, but maybe I need to go outside my comfort zone.

The more we experiment, the better! It wouldn't hurt to look into those browns, this is a great, shiny brown color on you! @sprocketta 🙂

Hellooooooo!!! I am pretty sure I will never finish this challenge haha. I was on vacation for 10 days and am way behind! So here's the two days I did before I left that I didn't post. 

Day 12: Plummy Rose from tarte. Love this one it goes on smoothly and leaves my lips feeling moisturized. It's my go-to one, especially when I'm out working in the apple orchard and am unable to check on it or do more than a quick swipe between customers. 

Day 13 is one from L'Oreal called Pink Flamingo. The color is nice but the formula has this gross smell to it, it's nearly unbearable. What if I wanted to kiss someone or whisper to them? Would they smell the weirdness? I can't wear this but will find a similar color elsewhere. I have not had any luck with L'Oreal lippies. Also thought I'd switch up my pose but I just look silly upon reflection lol.

LOL!! @Anonymous 🙂 In England, this means the opposite of peace but you dont look silly at all, you look very content. 🙂 And, you look great without eye makeup ❤️ It's great to find a lipstick you can just swipe and forget, Plummy Rose looks great on you!

Bummer about the Pink Flamingo @Anonymous, I think the color is really pretty, but definitely no reason to put up with something that smells so horrible. I actually thought you were giving it a "peace out" goodbye in your photo, so I don't think your pose is too silly. I also feel weird taking pictures of my face with roughly the same pose time after time, but I also just feel ridiculous trying to come up with anything different.

Good to see you back @Anonymous  I can why the Tarte is your go to.  It looks great on you!  I went to Ulta with my mom Monday and she bought the new Clinique lipstick in a really similar shade.  I think it's Romanticize but I will check with her.  Maybe you can replace it with that.  It's always nice to put on a favorite.  It's a little like getting home after a long day.  A swipe or two and all is well.

Welcome back, @Anonymous! Hope you enjoyed your vacation! 

Plummy Rose looks like a custom made pink nude on you. I can see why it’s your go-to.  Too bad about Pink Flamingo’s smell... bad-smelling lipsticks should be illegal. Smelly makeup in general is annoying, but it’s criminal when it’s literally right under your nose all day. Hope you can find a good dupe. ColourPop had a limited edition Lippie Stix in a very similar shade (a friend has it; I think it’s called Sweet Thing or something like that) but I don’t think CP added it to their permanent rotation. They might have another similar color, though. 

And “apple orchard” brought back a flood of happy memories. I live in Chicago but I was born and raised in Michigan. Apple orchards and cider mills are 2 of my favorite places on Earth—even if I have to dodge yellow jackets and aggressive Canada geese to pick my own apples. Which makes me appreciate folks like you who work in orchards. 🙂 

Now I have a serious craving for a slightly underripe Macintosh apple (I like them a bit on the sour side), a cup of hot cider, and a warm cider mill donut.

I didn't realize that lipsticks could be so bad smelling until I tried this one! I was so shocked, who was like "yes, this is great, no one will notice this" when they approved it? I'll take a look at the ColourPop stuff, I've seen others wearing their lippies and they have piqued my interest. 

I'm glad to hear about your happy orchard memories! We have a lot of people from near Chicago come out to the orchard to pick apples, and our hard cider is bottled in Michigan! We don't have the capability to do the hard cider on site yet, but that is something they are preparing for the future. The normal ciders we do on site, my favorite is the apple cider slushie. 

I try a lot of the apples in the orchard and I've found I also prefer the sour/tart apples.

I was inspired by @mermadelove. I really do love this color, I don't know why I don't wear it more often.

Day 37: Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Famous

This color is pretty close to my natural lip color, maybe even a little lighter, but it's nice to use when I want something subtle.

Day 38: Sephora Collection Rouge Infusion Lip Stain in Peony

Originally I thought this color was super boring, but I might be coming around to it. This challenge is definitely helping me appreciate mauve-y, neutral lipstick colors.
