100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

The Huda lip strobe in Shameless is sooo pretty on you! The pink shimmer is gorgeous and you look so happy! Love it 💕

Is that shimmer on the HUda one? I'll keep saying it but anything with shimmer or metal sheen to it looks fantastic on you! @sprocketta Cant wait to see a full lip strobe look on you 🙂

@Buootiful I wasn't sure if it would fit the challenge to wear each separately and then together another day.  I guess I can bend the rules a teensy bit.  The two colors are really gorgeous together.  I think I tucked the matte away with the rest of lipsticks I've already worn but I'll dig it out.  And thanks!  You are too sweet.

Shameless looks great by itself, @sprocketta! 

Nyx Liquid Suede... that’s another line of lipsticks that apparently work for some people, which always surprises me. I’ve tried 2 of them. One is the blue in my current profile photo and it’s one of the worst liquid lipstick formulas I’ve ever worn, in every way except color. Sorry a Liquid Suede didn’t work for you, either.

@WinglessOne I know some people who like NYX and I feel like I've been kind of snobby with drugstore makeup, so I wanted to give it a shot.  I've got another NYX in a different formula to test.  And thank you, shameless rocks my socks.

@sprocketta I hope the other NYX lipstick works out. I seem to have bad luck with NYX in general: nothing I’ve tried (lipstick, lip liner, eyeshadow, etc.) has worked well for me. But many people swear by NYX, so it’s probably just me. 

I still have some Wet N Wild lipsticks in declutter limbo: I need to see if they’re too drying compared to similar shades by other brands. I already know I’m ditching Sugar Plum Fairy simply because I don’t need a MAC Rebel dupe. (It’s a great dupe though—one I always recommend whenever someone wants Rebel but doesn’t wanna pay MAC prices.)

@WinglessOne I don't think I've tried any Wet N Wild products.  I feel like I saw something somewhere online about their highlighters being decent, but I'm not into those.  I'll be curious to see how those tests go.

Day 10! "Pretty Penny" from e.l.f. cosmetics. It sure does have that coppery look to it like a penny would. I think I like the other shade I got from this line better though. Oh well, can't win them all, but since it was on clearance for $2.50 it's also not much of a loss lol.

How are you liking the e.l.f. formulas @Anonymous?  I've just heard that that brand is kind of hit or miss, but they do have some really great things.

The two e.l.f. lippies I used for the challenge are from the same line, so I can only speak to that formula. I like it though, it glides on really nicely and dries quickly. I can tell I have something on my lips but it's not uncomfortable or drying. I think some people might find it shows too much of their lip lines, but that doesn't usually bother me.

Today: MAC Liptensity in Hellebore. One of my favorite shades that I’m definitely keeping. 

As Hellebore wears off, it leaves a raspberry creamy stain behind that I like a lot.

Yesterday I wore ABH Matte in Cobalt for most of the day. This is a blue I rarely wear. Here’s why:

I never care about lipsticks accentuating my lip lines—unless the color cracks when I smile. This happened just 2 minutes after application, and I wound up retouching it all day (also note how patchy it is, ugh): 



I’m done with all ABH lipsticks, whether they’re solid, liquid, cream, matte, or gloss. None of them perform well on me and it’s time to drop ‘em all into the declutter box. Especially the liquid mattes. This Cobalt shade is a solid/bullet matte, not a liquid, but it’s nearly as bad. At least it felt better on my lips than ABH’s liquid matte formula.

Pat McGrath LuxeTrance in Wrecked, with Urban Decay Comfort Matte in Heroine as a base coat on my bottom lip. I won’t repeat Wrecked for this challenge, but will probably wear Heroine again on its own. You can’t see its true blue here, since Wrecked turned it purple.

Mac Liptensity, I must look into that. I love these ones you dont have to retouch if you don't want to. So versatile for a wear off color too. You should try the wear off color with some MAC lip glass on top to give another dimension of color. But you might think the glass is too sticky. Though, it stays put and doesn't slide around like grease.

The ABH gets good reviews but this is horrible it happens so quick after application. If  you didnt specify, I would have thought it was a liquid not  a bullet. I never got into ABH and really don't like that the lipsticks are made in china 😞

I love the gradient lip look here and of course, goes perfectly with your shirt 🙂 @WinglessOne Wreckd's a great color by itself and cant wait to see Heroine as a stand alone ❤️

You know, I still don’t have any MAC Lipglass. Oh wait, yes I do: I got a deluxe sample from MAC. I don’t think I’ve ever worn it... gotta find it for this challenge. It must be in the section of my stash I haven’t gotten to yet. 😄 Meanwhile, I might try the Fenty Gloss Bomb over Hellebore in its worn-off state.

Fenty will work too! @WinglessOneI remember trying it out after a stressful day at work cuz my lips were dry and I didnt retouch after lunch-didnt care at the stress i was in-and put it on. Minutes later I was purchasing something and the Sephora associate commented on how she liked my lip color. I was surprised she liked it, In my stressed mind I just saw a lipstick mess. 🙂

@WinglessOne Hellebore looks great on you.  I love the colors you wear!  I have a couple from that line as well and like them as well.  As for the ABH, this just reminds me why I don't mess with mattes very much.  It's so disappointing to see a color look so pretty and then get patchy and crack.  Good riddance to it!

Thanks @sprocketta! I usually say the Liptensity line doesn’t wear as well as the MAC satin or cream lines, because some Liptensity colors wear away without much color left behind. But I should give this line more credit: they apply very pigmented, and some do leave a nice stain, plus they’re very comfy to wear. I have 4 of these. One is blue (Blue Beat) I haven’t worn for this challenge yet. One’s black, and the other’s red. Hmm, I must be subconsciously saving my black lipsticks for October. 🙂
