Hi BIC!
A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.
Ooooh! I like this lots @WinglessOne! Although I don’t see why it doesn’t go with eye makeup.
Thanks @jozkid! I think it was more “this matte lip doesn’t work with that shimmery eyeshadow.” Normally the red I’d pair with those eyes would be glossy or creamy, and I’d probably reach for a darker red.
I’m surprised I didn’t reach for a purple yesterday. In fact, I haven’t done any purples or blues in this thread yet... I must be subconsciously trying to hold out on those, so I don’t wear them early on and can’t repeat them for a long time. 😄
@WinglessOne I'm jealous of how good this color looks on you!! I have the mini of this but it's deff not my color
Thanks @Kim888! I wish Starwoman worked on everyone. I’d tell you “just ombré it with a lip pencil to tone it closer to what’ll work for you,” but honestly, no one should have to do extra stuff to make a lipstick shade work.
Another great red on you @WinglessOne How many red lipsticks do you own? I'm sure it's never enough, but I'm curious.
Thanks @sprocketta! Oh boy, how many reds do I have... without going through them all to count, I can probably find a few tubes per shade category: tomato red, cherry red, brick red, “true/classic” red, oxblood, burgundy, maroon, etc.
I do need to assess how much of each color I own, so I can remove dupes. I’m sure I have more berries than reds, and I reeeeeally don’t need all those berries. Whichever formulas perform best, those are the berries I’ll keep.
Bite Jam, three ways 😋
(I apologize in advance for three pics in a row, but I absolutely cannot get a pic in a spoiler from my phone...they always post above the spoiler, no matter what I do 😕)
I am actually glad this one got mentioned...I have the mini duo with Jam and Opal, and while the color is simply gorgeous, I remember now why I don't reach for it often. Jam is...opaque but sheer, if that makes sense? It's got almost a gel texture to it, and while it is super soft and comfortable, I find it highlights lines like crazy, and shows off dry spots I didn't even know I had. I actually applied this once, wound up removing it to scrub my lips, then applied again, and was still relatively unhappy with it. BUT...there is a good side to it, to me at least, in that it stains. I like to wear it for an hour or more, then remove the excess, leaving a lovely pink tint. Sometimes even that is a bit uneven though, so I usually follow up with a fun topper to blur out any lines.
It is an awesome shiny color! @RGbrown. I don't think your lines are accentuated at all. They are just regular lip lines and they look good with lipstick-no need to blur 🙂
(In commercial voice) It's a lipstick AND a stain, how versatile!!!
In RE to the spoiler thing, it never works on the phone. 😞 I find if you post it then go back to edit, then it works. Basically, in edit mode, just select the picture then click on Spoiler tag and it should hide it. Hope it helps!
I should have a done a big grin close-up lolol. It was not cute IRL 😛
Thanks for the spoiler tip...I'll have to try that!
Wow @RGbrown I am loving this color as first applied. Nice and bright. Also good to see you've got a stain so you've still got some pigment there after wearing for a couple hours. I hate the lip lines too. Also, you look beautiful here with that color. It really suits you!
@sprockettaUnidentified
Thanks so much! I love the stain effect, but I really need to see if I can find a dupe in a formula that works better for me from the start 💜
Oh my, that's gorgeous! Thanks so much!
@RGbrownWhoa! Thanks for sharing, I think I will have to get this one. I love all three versions and I really like knowing that a lippie has such versatility. I also am that person that will forget that I have faded lipstick on and go out somewhere (luckily it was just to pilates last night lol) so the sweet faded pink would take care of that dilemma!
@AnonymousUnidentified
It's definitely an awesome shade if the formula works for you! And the stain effect makes it super versatile IMHO 💜
@RGbrown I think it looks great! 😊 It’s nice that the stain is so even after two hours.
I have to start wearing my bolder shades more often. I’m shy about wearing the bright colours to work for some reason 😅
@RGbrown My upper lip leans toward the thin side when my lips are dry and I find that the deep brights make it look so much thinner than it is. I have to keep it super-hydrated to keep it plump, which is why I wear Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer Fenty Glow almost every day. It makes my lips look so full and defined!
Do you have any tips for maintaining lip size and shape when wearing the bolder colours?
@PinkEvergreenUnidentified
Hmmmm, honestly, it's not really something I've thought about. I avoid dryer formulas because I just don't like the feel, and if I'm not wearing lipstick, there's a lip balm practically glued to my hand for continual application, but I've never considered a size/shape factor in color vs neutral. You could always layer balm underneath, and continue topping with gloss like you do with the Fenty?
I like Jam on you! But I understand what you mean about lipsticks that accentuate fine lines. It's too much trouble to try to make them work. @RGbrown
Yup, they can be a hassle! If I remember to wear this for a while before I leave the house, it's totally worth the time...it's just that I usually don't think about it early enough to let it work its staining magic lol.
