Korean Skincare For Rosacea

Hi!! Looking for recommendations for Korean skincare that targets redness and rosacea. I’m looking for a full skincare routine with all Korean skincare. Thanks!

Re: Korean Skincare For Rosacea

I find k-beauty better than a lot of american or european brands for acne/rosacea/etc honestly. I love skin 1004, mediheal, and suhlwasoo I have hyperpigmentation. i will say I also really love dermalogica, a french brand but have been using kbeauty a lot more.

Re: Korean Skincare For Rosacea

Hi @AlexaBenefield, my skin is normal, probably leans more combo right now, with a little oliness on my nose and chin, dry elsewhere. My rosacea is most prominent on my cheeks and around my nose. I also deal wth sensitivity, dryness, and a compromised skin barrier.

Skincare can be very particular to each person's skin but here's what I use / have used with good results. My skincare routine is a mix of Korean and non-Korean brands but the products listed below are all Korean brands. @2spoiled

One thing to note is to start building your skincare routine slowly, introducing one new product at a time and giving a lot of time in between doing that (I'd say 2 weeks in general but if you suffer from redness or rosacea, I'd give more time in between, maybe 3 weeks - I've ruined my skin barrier even more by not doing that). so that it's easier to know which product your skin is not liking. That said, if these products are irritating, then I'd stop using it.

Apologize in advance for the formatting if it's off. I tried to make it more easily readable.

Evening routine:

  • First Cleanse / Oil Cleanse: Right now, Skinfix Cleansing Oil has been great for my sensitive skin. For a Korean skincare oil based cleanser, depending on whether you prefer a balm or an oil, I'd recommend either:

               - Banila Co. Clean it Zero Calming Cleansing Balm. Some retailers offer mini or travel size versions of the Banila Co. balm and I'd recommend doing that if available.

              - Black Rice Moisture Cleansing Oil - unscented, gentle and does a nice job o removing sunscreen and makeup without making  my skin feel tight or dry. Just note that this contains several essential oils and if those cause your rosacea and redness to flare up more, then this will be a pass for you.

  • Second Cleanse / Water Cleanse
              - haruharu wonder Black Rice Moisture 5.5 Soft Cleansing Gel. NOTE - there's another cleanser in the line that looks similar to this one that contains AHA. I wouldn't use someting with an AHA (or BHA) on my rosacea as it would aggravate it. Look for the cleansing gel that has "Moisture" in its name.

              - Etude Soon Jung 5.5 Foam Cleanser - the entire Soon Jung line is great for sensitive skin. if you like a foaming cleanser, this is a nice one. The haruharu wonder lathers up a little but I wouldn't call it a foam cleanser.

  • Toner: I'm back to using toners in the warmer months, avoiding the ones with astringents or actives, like AHA, BHA, PHAs, etc. I tend to reach for ones that are soothing and impart some good hydration to my skin. Toners are often applied by dispensing product onto a cotton round and then swiing the cotton all over the face. My preferred method of application is to apply a small amount into the cup of my palm, pat the palm of my other hand into it so that the product is on both palms and then apply palm to face, pressing and patting (not rubbing) the product into the skin, concentrating on the areas that I'm prone to redness or rosacea. I may do 2 layers of this depending on the amount of hydration my skin needs on that day

So far, these are the ones I've found to to be gentle on my skin and that don't exacerbate my redness.

              - Be The Skin Botanical Nutrition Power Toner - it's in a bottle that has an orange and yellow ombre look to it. I think the company is rebranding and is or has phased out or discontinued their Be The Skin collection, replacing it for other products. There are still some available online but it's harder to come by. It contains royal jelly which, in my experience, has done a good job of calming my rosacea. A similar producct that might be of interest to you is the Cosrx Full Fit Propolis Synergy Toner.

              - Anua Heartleaf 77 Soothing Toner - heartleaf is another name for Houttuynia cordata, which contains anti-inflammatory properties that can be helpful with treating or managing redness and rosacea.

              - Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner is another good one. There's a version that comes in the form of a mist, but I like this original version better.

Some folks may use the different toner in one routine; that would be way too much for me and cause my skin to become more red!! I stick with one both for ease of convenience and also because it's less likely my skin will be irritaged with all the different ingredients.

  • Essence/Serum/Ampoule (if needed)
Depending on your skin type, you may not need this step. If you do choose to include it in your routine, just one of these will do. You might also just use either a toner or something from this group of products.

              - CosRx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Essence - hydrating, anti-inflammatory and soothing. This just makes my skin look and feel better, rosacea or otherwise.

              - Beauty of Joseon Calming Serum with Green Tea and Panthenol - soothes and reduces the appearnace of redness.

              - #Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Sensitive Skin Serum for Redness and Barrier Repair 1.01 oz / 30 ml - the Cicapair line is excellent for redness

  • Moisturizer:
              - Etude SoonJung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream - great for sensitive skin
              - Dr. Jart+ Cicapair™ Sensitive Skin Moisturizer for Redness 1.69 oz / 50 ml # or #Dr. Jart+ Cicapair™ Cooling Gel Moisturizer for Redness 1.69 oz / 50 ml # - better for normal, combo, oily skin typ
              - Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin™ Skin Barrier Moisturizing Cream # - good for dry/dryer skin type; focus is more on repairing skin barrier (rosacea can be a sign of a damaged barrier)
              - CosRX Propolis Light Cream - good for normal, combo, oily skin types
              - Dr. G Red Blemish Clear Soothing Cream - good for redness, regardless whether or not you have blemishes
              - AESTURA ATOBARRIER365 Cooling Hydro Soothing Gel-Cream Moisturizer with Ceramides for Skin Moisture ... #- good for redness and compromised skin barrier - the gel cream consistency is lighter and the cooling and hydration is great for someone with rosacea. Best suited for those with normal, combo or oily skin types.

MORNING ROUTINE: I'd keep it short, sweet and simple - cleanser + moisturizer + sunscreen is all you really need.

  • Use 1 of the cleansers from the evening routine to wash face, most likely the water based one. If your skin is very sensitive and easily irritated, you may want to use a micellar water instead of a wash of cleanser

  • If you need extra hydration, use either a toner or an essence/serum

  • Moisturizer - fine to use the same one as you do in your nighttime routine, unless you need something lighter in the mornings

  • Sunscreen

These are the Korean beauty sunscreens that I prefer when it comes to keeping my redness/rosacea manageable

              - haruharu wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ - this is in a dusty purple tube with a yellow dispensing component. It's a physical sunscreen which is the type I prefer. If you prefer chemical sunscreens, haruharu wonder also makes one - that tube is yellow with a dusty purple dispensing component.

              - Axis-Y Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen Ver. 3 Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ PA++++ - nice and gentle on irritated or reddened skin

Not a sunscreen, but contains sunscreen - for makeup prep , I recommend Dr. Jart+ Mini Cicapair Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30 15 mL/ .50 fl oz # as a primer  - it has a green hue to color correct redness. A little goes a long way.

Re: Korean Skincare For Rosacea

I'm struggling with the same issue. I have the skin 1004 ample but I don't notice it reduces redness from rosacia, you rather irritated skin. I too am looking for a whole routine bc its getting ridiculous for me.

Re: Korean Skincare For Rosacea

try dermaologica, mediheal, and suhlwasoo! they totally changed my skin years ago and try skin 1004 cenetlla line, that line is amazing for rosacea/acne/etc.

Re: Korean Skincare For Rosacea

Look for Cica or Centella in the ingredients list. Those are very calming for red, irritated skin. Brands like Skin1004 sell 100% cica ampoules.
