To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I don't think I've ever spent my points since I became a Beauty Insider. I have more points that I'd like to admit, but I can't bring myself to spend them because of the "what if something better comes out" idea...

Anyhow, do you guys save or spend your points? Anything you're saving up for or anything you've spent your points on that you'd like to share?

Thanks for your thoughts! Smiley Very Happy

Sidenote: This is my first question so forgive me if I posted in the wrong section/this question was already asked!

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I usually only spend my points on 500 or 1000 pt items.  I'll save until something comes up that I know I'll use then ill stock pile again.

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I'm terrible and spend my points quite frequently. Usually on 100 point perks that I really want to try. I recently spent 500 points on a Benefit set from the Sephora inside JC Penny and regretted it a few days later when I got the email for the origins 500 point perk Smiley Sad

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I have that same luck, if I were to spend any of my points the next day would be something even more awesome haha.

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

For 100 point items, I only buy if it's something I know I love already or have been curious to try but comes with a price that keeps me from purchasing it.

The 250 point items are never tempting - not interested in a perfume or phone case.

500 points would have to really wow me and the only one that I have considered is the current Hourglass one.

But after Sephora dropped those giant 1,000-10,000 point bombs on us earlier this month, I think I'm going to hang onto mine for a bit except for maybe a 100 here or there if it makes sense to buy.

PS - Welcome. Smiley Happy

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I know! Those higher point "prizes" are what's driving me to save! Haha.

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

Question: If you spend your points do you lose your "status"  so, right now I am at 311 and I believe very close to the next level (350 I think for VIB?) but if I go above 350, spend them, do I start back at "Beauty Insider" instead of any VIB I earned?

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

Beauty insider status (VIB or VIB Rouge) is determined by total amount spent in a calendar year, not by points. So no worries about spending points! Smiley Happy

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I went through a phase where I was getting at least one 100-point perk with every purchase/order but now that I know the high point perks are going to be a yearly thing and the introduction of 1000-point perks throughout the year I've been hoarding them since the beginning of July.

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I also really stingy with my points. I have over 7700 so far and I always want to save them especially now that they are having more high point gifts.

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

Wow!! That's awesome! I fell like if I spent mine, then one of those higher point rewards would come out...just my luck!

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I also used 500 points on a Benifit set and wish I hadn't. Since then I have been saving my points. Does anyone know when the double, triple, quadruple (depending on your status) points show up?

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I'm confused about that too. A few days ago my points jumped up dramatically and now they're steadily still going up even though I haven't purchased anything. At fist they were automatically added, then taken away, and now I think they're adding them again...confusing! I wish there was a way to see the points you earned per product (like if they were quadruple or just single) That would help so much!!

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I recently spent 1000 points on a full sized duo of marc Jacobs lipstick and lip vinyl.  That was worth it to me.  I got the benefit set as well for 500... I'm not totally consistent but freak out if I go below a certain number in case something good comes up.

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I saw that! I wasn't sure if I wanted it though since I already have a lot of the lip glosses. I'm glad you like them though, points well spent Smiley Wink

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I've decided to save my points for next year.  The rewards they offer through the year are flimsy compared to the rewards they offer during the august appreciation event.  For example 1000 points gets you that Marc Jacobs gift set of a lipstick and lipgloss, or you could have redeemed it for the 1000 point Bite Beauty perk which included 3 lipsticks and 1 customized lipstick.

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I saw the Marc Jacobs perk but I didn't know about the Bite one! I'm going to their lip lab in September and I'm so excited to create something... It's about all I want to do when I first get there! Ha ha.

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I've only spent 500 pts on a benefit point perk and at first I felt like it was worth it because I haven't seen any good 500 pt perks that were appealing to me, but afterwards I kind of changed my mind. I think I would've rather get five small 100 pt perks since I would be able to choose each item. For the 500 pt perk, sometimes I would only like 1/2 of the products. I think next time I would rather save up my points for something better.

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I always spend my points mostly on 100 pt skincare perks that I want to try,,,but now on I will save my points till next year Augest appreciation and only spend it when there is something really really good.

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I have a pretty extensive wishlist and if anything on my wishlist is ever a point item, I get it. I also get most of the perfume minis (if it's anything I don't have a full size of) just because I like the little bottles. But then I have like 1500 points sitting in my account and bigger point items rarely appeal to me.

Re: To save or not to save? ...Your points that is!

I am a saver. I really wait for products that I know I love as it is always handy to have the little travel sizes.

I don't think I have used my points since they had a Josie Maran kit and the itty bitty Fresh lip trio.

Another thing to consider and what I do with my larger samples that come in the little treat bags ... I know which products that my friends like or would like and I have them in little baskets with rolled washcloths when they come to visit.

My friends show up and they have a Laura Mercier tinted Moisturizer that they can throw on for that early Starbucks run or some little brightening mask to take off the air travel dullness. I also do this with products that don't work on my skin, hair or nails and tell them to take them with them when they leave for their daughters or themselves.
