Love for Brushes

I'm developing a love for brushes of all kinds.  I bought a few higher end brushes and they are amazing.  They are incredibly soft and my makeup glides on like a dream.  There are so many interesting shapes. I am really interested in creating a beautiful brush collection.  Show your brushes and share any cleaning and storage tips and let us know which ones are your favorites.

Re: Love for Brushes

@peculiarzmakeup, how do you like the set?  I tend to get SC brushes individually, just because I usually need specifics for my eyes (slightly smaller crease brushes for example).  So, anything else you think you needed/curious about?

Off hand, I'd point you towards SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Blush Brush #99 and SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Shadow Brush #15 .  The former is great for cream products and the latter is a good workhorse and good for packing on shadows

Re: Love for Brushes

I really love the set, I’ve been looking for a blush and bronzer brush because beauty blenders I have to replace a lot. I was just wondering does any bronzer brush or blush brush work or is it suggested to get a set with each makeup product line, I am new to brushes I am looking forward to finding the right fit 🙂 @danielledanielle  thank you I appreciate your help

Re: Love for Brushes

@peculiarzmakeup

You can definitely use brushes outside of their designated purpose.  Usually a bronzer brush can also serve as a (finishing) powder brush and blush brush if you prefer a less structured wash of color.  It can be a matter of preference, but some brushes can also serve as multitasking given shape and how they are made.  I use SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Bronzer Brush #80 for powders, in particular powder foundation, but it's a bronzer brush.  I have the older version of SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Foundation Brush #47 , which is a multitasking brush as well (can highlight, contour, blush in addition to foundation) given it's shape and the fact that it's angled, so holding out on different positions kind of lends to the idea of multitasking.  Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Face 1.0 All Over Complexion Brush - For Foundation, Blush, Bronzer & Powder is another workhouse.  That would be my top rec to you for blush/bronzer (that you can get to complete the challenge of so desired) because it barely picks up product, so you can kind of switch back and forth without cleaning.

Re: Love for Brushes

@peculiarzmakeup @My go to bronzer and blush brush is from Tom Ford.  It’s the best I have tried for my round face and really soft too. I have had them for a really long time and they are still in great condition. They are not cheap though.

Re: Love for Brushes

Thank you! I will look into it 🙂 @SportyGirly125

Re: Love for Brushes

@peculiarzmakeup, if you have a Cosmetics Company Store near you, they sell Tom Ford and other Estee Lauder brands at a discount. You might find a Tom Ford brush there. Many years ago, I purchased Bobbi Brown brushes there at a significant discount (my HG foundation brush is BB's Full Coverage Face brush and for hard-to-pick-up powder formulas, BB's Blush Brush picks them up every time).

Haven't played with them yet, but I suspect strong love, especially for the fan.  Super silky to the touch.

Re: Love for Brushes

@danielledanielle  I hope all 3 brushes work well for you!

Ever since Beautylish’s teaser email, I’ve tried to fight the “must own ALL the keyaki brushes” inner voices. I did I pass up a couple earlier keyakis, so you’d think skipping these 3 would be easy. Alas, I keep looking at Sonia’s write-up and photos, especially of the TF3 aka the fluffiest candle brush (once it’s washed a few times) I’ve ever seen. That one will eventually end up in my cart and I’ll use some reward points on it.

And if I’m gonna add that TF3, why not also add the TF1? I might not really actually need it, considering everything else in my brush hoard, but Sonia says it’s big fluffy airy and a bit denser than most big fluffy brushes, and that’s hard to ignore. I’m very interested to hear your thoughts on this brush in particular, once you’ve used it a few times. 🙂

Re: Love for Brushes

So, I "tried" to avoid this one by not reading her blog @WinglessOne (& will do)

And definitely air quotes because honestly 🫣

I was ok!  Then, guess what?  They actually did pre-orders this time around and when the question came between individual and a set, I...I...I did what I did 🤣.  I was thinking similarly, T3 is unique and T1 is gorgeous.  It'd be wrong to leave T2 out.  Ugh, I'm weak, but happy.

Re: Love for Brushes

@danielledanielle  Ah, the pre-order strikes again! Beautylish got me that way with a different Sonia G. set I initially had no intention of buying; I’d planned to buy individual brushes, so I signed up for notification without knowing I’d be so tempted to buy all of them once I was texted. 🤦‍♀️ I didn’t sign up this time, otherwise I’d also probably have all 3 of these brushes right now. Because it’s one thing to buy just 2 of 3 brushes yourself on the website, but when a rep texts you for purchase, it’s harder to say “yeah, I only want 2 of the 3 kids” and not feel some kinda way about it. 🫠

And really, Sonia does almost too good a job describing her brushes and comparing them to others (including other brands’ sometimes). I love that but my wallet doesn’t. Though she’s also said “you don’t really need [new brush z] if you already have my [brush x]” a few times, and I greatly appreciate her honesty. It’s one of the reasons I buy her brushes in the first place.

Re: Love for Brushes

Gosh, they’re beautiful, @danielledanielle!

Re: Love for Brushes

@makeitup305 , thoughts?  I feel like this is a pass, they've released a similar cheek brush (saibihoko )not too long ago, and they also had an angled version of the saibihoko brush that I hope comes back.

Re: Love for Brushes

@danielledanielle I didn't pick it up or either of the saibihokos. I just didn't feel like I needed it. Maybe I'll need it later this year 😉

Re: Love for Brushes

I wanted to recommend the most recent product I used to wash my brushes. It's from a Korean brand called the Tool Lab. You can find it on Amazon or Olive Young. I washed all of these brushes using the two 1.69 fl oz containers in the second picture. They're $8 each, so pretty expensive, but they go a long way. They rinse clean (no suds) and leave the brushes very soft. I'm definitely buying the larger sizes so I can get a better value.

Re: Love for Brushes

Wow that's pretty good mileage out of the smaller bottles! Gonna have to add this to my list
