Love for Brushes

I'm developing a love for brushes of all kinds.  I bought a few higher end brushes and they are amazing.  They are incredibly soft and my makeup glides on like a dream.  There are so many interesting shapes. I am really interested in creating a beautiful brush collection.  Show your brushes and share any cleaning and storage tips and let us know which ones are your favorites.

Re: Love for Brushes

@peculiarzmakeup @My go to bronzer and blush brush is from Tom Ford.  Itโ€™s the best I have tried for my round face and really soft too. I have had them for a really long time and they are still in great condition. They are not cheap though.

Re: Love for Brushes

Thank you! I will look into it ๐Ÿ™‚ @SportyGirly125

Re: Love for Brushes

@peculiarzmakeup, if you have a Cosmetics Company Store near you, they sell Tom Ford and other Estee Lauder brands at a discount. You might find a Tom Ford brush there. Many years ago, I purchased Bobbi Brown brushes there at a significant discount (my HG foundation brush is BB's Full Coverage Face brush and for hard-to-pick-up powder formulas, BB's Blush Brush picks them up every time).

Haven't played with them yet, but I suspect strong love, especially for the fan.  Super silky to the touch.

Re: Love for Brushes

@danielledanielle  I hope all 3 brushes work well for you!

Ever since Beautylishโ€™s teaser email, Iโ€™ve tried to fight the โ€œmust own ALL the keyaki brushesโ€ inner voices. I did I pass up a couple earlier keyakis, so youโ€™d think skipping these 3 would be easy. Alas, I keep looking at Soniaโ€™s write-up and photos, especially of the TF3 aka the fluffiest candle brush (once itโ€™s washed a few times) Iโ€™ve ever seen. That one will eventually end up in my cart and Iโ€™ll use some reward points on it.

And if Iโ€™m gonna add that TF3, why not also add the TF1? I might not really actually need it, considering everything else in my brush hoard, but Sonia says itโ€™s big fluffy airy and a bit denser than most big fluffy brushes, and thatโ€™s hard to ignore. Iโ€™m very interested to hear your thoughts on this brush in particular, once youโ€™ve used it a few times. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Love for Brushes

So, I "tried" to avoid this one by not reading her blog @WinglessOne (& will do)

And definitely air quotes because honestly ๐Ÿซฃ

I was ok!  Then, guess what?  They actually did pre-orders this time around and when the question came between individual and a set, I...I...I did what I did ๐Ÿคฃ.  I was thinking similarly, T3 is unique and T1 is gorgeous.  It'd be wrong to leave T2 out.  Ugh, I'm weak, but happy.

Re: Love for Brushes

@danielledanielle  Ah, the pre-order strikes again! Beautylish got me that way with a different Sonia G. set I initially had no intention of buying; Iโ€™d planned to buy individual brushes, so I signed up for notification without knowing Iโ€™d be so tempted to buy all of them once I was texted. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ I didnโ€™t sign up this time, otherwise Iโ€™d also probably have all 3 of these brushes right now. Because itโ€™s one thing to buy just 2 of 3 brushes yourself on the website, but when a rep texts you for purchase, itโ€™s harder to say โ€œyeah, I only want 2 of the 3 kidsโ€ and not feel some kinda way about it. ๐Ÿซ

And really, Sonia does almost too good a job describing her brushes and comparing them to others (including other brandsโ€™ sometimes). I love that but my wallet doesnโ€™t. Though sheโ€™s also said โ€œyou donโ€™t really need [new brush z] if you already have my [brush x]โ€ a few times, and I greatly appreciate her honesty. Itโ€™s one of the reasons I buy her brushes in the first place.

Re: Love for Brushes

Gosh, theyโ€™re beautiful, @danielledanielle!

Re: Love for Brushes

Re: Love for Brushes

@makeitup305 , thoughts?  I feel like this is a pass, they've released a similar cheek brush (saibihoko )not too long ago, and they also had an angled version of the saibihoko brush that I hope comes back.

Re: Love for Brushes

@danielledanielle I didn't pick it up or either of the saibihokos. I just didn't feel like I needed it. Maybe I'll need it later this year ๐Ÿ˜‰

Re: Love for Brushes

I wanted to recommend the most recent product I used to wash my brushes. It's from a Korean brand called the Tool Lab. You can find it on Amazon or Olive Young. I washed all of these brushes using the two 1.69 fl oz containers in the second picture. They're $8 each, so pretty expensive, but they go a long way. They rinse clean (no suds) and leave the brushes very soft. I'm definitely buying the larger sizes so I can get a better value.

Re: Love for Brushes

Wow that's pretty good mileage out of the smaller bottles! Gonna have to add this to my list โœจ

Re: Love for Brushes

@ThenTheresPoe they sell them on Amazon and Olive Young, which is a Korean beauty website.

Re: Love for Brushes

@danielledanielle  Soniaโ€™s blog post is up now and dang it, these are 4 brand new brush shapes (though a couple look similar to other Sonia G. brushes). And theyโ€™re kakishibu dyed bristles, with Sunset Cranes shaped black handles. And I wish one of them (Smooth Blender) was available separately; Iโ€™d happily buy that one solo.

Gonna read through Soniaโ€™s comparisons now and try to talk myself off this ledge. Is anyone else thinking of buying this set?

EDIT: I hadnโ€™t scrolled all the way through her write-up, so I missed the box these come in. Now I wish the previous LE set had cranes on the box. This 4-brush set is USD $210 and will hit Beautylish at 10 AM PT on June 25, so set your alarms for bot battle!
