Another way to earn points is to have the Sephora credit card where you can earn 2 to 4 times the points with every purchase.

I want to say it happens more often than I thought for the multipliers (which was 4 times a year).

There are points multipliers for just fragrance, a specific brand or if they have a promo going on for purchases in general.
