Expired Sample

I received a sample of the Huda Beauty Fauxfilter Foundation, and noticed it had an expiration date of 01/20 on it. Is it still safe to use? I’m not going to make a big deal about it since it’s a free sample, but they really shouldn’t be giving things out that are that expired (or at all). Thoughts?
